I was out and about and one of my neighbours had a 28 lb thrust motorguide t/m out at the curb we asked him if he was throwing it out and he said yes it isn't enough power for this big boat that he got..only problem is , that the prop has a broken blade it now has 3 instead of 4. I am wondering if this will effect how it works. I know props are fairly cheap but if I don't have to replace it why would I for the mean time.

yeah there is some big ones...it is best out in a boat...but there is 2 amazing on shore fishing spots with minnows and lures. 6-7 lbs bass. and below the dam there is crazy pike/ walleye..and there is the odd walleye above as well.

I would just look around in the paper, backroads, cottage areas, and online classifieds and try and find a nice aluminum jon less worrys about whats under you and way lighter and usually one person can load unload.

go to a local automotive store like napa, princess auto, ect. and they will have hitchs for your car.... all you need is a class 2 hitch to make sure that you are good to tow a little alum boat and trailer around. as for installation it is pretty easy to do if you know much about cars ( i am 16 and can do it) there is usually a book that comes with it or there is always take it to a garage but they charge up the wall.

Yeah i ahve a 10 foot jon and just got my folding seats(padded on sale at bass pro for 28 bucks) and the swivel seat clamps they work great on mine.. going out next weekend for the first time. can't wait they just put the docks in today where i go and open up on friday ) ill get you some pics this week or my boat and with the seats and stuff.

Thanks....I order both a file and new points to have on hand ill try the file to clean them up altough they don't look too bad at all but they are dirt cheap so wont hurt to have extra just incase. Thanks for all your input.

well i got it running with a little bit of playing with the screws on the front for fast speed low speed (rich and lean) got it will idle and everything just it sounds a bit clunky probably just needs a good run (sounds like a lawn mower for the first bit when you start it up in the middle of spring after sitting all winter) I broke the choke thing though that pulls the choke forward and back so have to order another one but other then that it sounds and looks like it may be a good motor.

Thanks W2S I was wondering about the carb but didn't want to take anything apart until I got a bit of imput. I was also told about the points from a few people...how do you clean those?

I have been using the milk crate for a few years now and works execelent. I am alwas finding new ways to add to it and update it.. It is used a lot fo kayak fishing and canoe and now have 2 in my jonboat it works execelent. I have been fishing and using it nad people ask me where to get them and i tell them I made it and they dont wanna go to the hassle and make one or find the milk crates and offer me to to buy mine for crazy prices so I sell it and make another and get all the supplies easy as I am a farmer and have tons of the milk crates. so there is alwas ways to add to it and just make it how you need and want it and make it your own personal set up and have fun with it. also it is good in the way of portable and I sometimes use it to bank fish and hold all my gear and when I am bobber or minnow fishing I use it to hold my poles while I wait and I jsut watch the end on the rod ( much better then those holders you stick in the ground and go in the watter along with your pole when you hget a fish. anyways have fun with it.

I have an older 2.5 hp johnson I bought with my 10' jon boat this winter. It will start and then die. It has new gas in it and everything (mixed 50:1) What else could it be?

I ordered the Clamps and Seats.. I got the padded seats...can't wait for them to get here hopefully next week some time. Then the boat will be going out on April 25 can't wait :) It has been a long 4 almost 5 months since getting my boat. Thats the only problem with Canadian weather. The snow doesn't stay long enough usually for Snowmobileing but hte ice stays long enough to stop you from getting in the water

ok thanks...I changed my order to the padded ones. not I don't know if I should get hte green ones or the grey and blue ones. haha I have having all these colour selections it makes it so hard.

my mistake i didn't see seats i there i thought you where talking about clamps.. yeah Bass pro has those on sale this week for 27 bucks. so 8 buck extra per seat. i was wondering If I should order them or not.

are they much different in quality or was it just at the time you bought them they where like new on the market?

I find that quite hard to believe. My 10 footer has a limit of 550. add another 4 feet andI bet yours was close to 700 or so max but i my be off I just kidn it hard to beleive that 2 people put it over the weight limit.

just put it in a extra can and use it to start your fires :)

It will be an awsome upgrade. you will notice your on the water a lto more and it is more relaxing. does it come with a motor? the only problem with the 10 foot boats is they usually have a max of around 3 or 4 hp so when you get 2 or 3 adults in there sometimes it is hard but hey it sure beats inflatable. and take it out without any fishing gear the first time for a few minutes to get use to it and such just incase you do happen to tip so your don't lose anything as they can get narrow. mine is a 40 " at the bottom which is rare if is is 32 or 36 it may very well be unstable and maybe no standing but thats for oyu to figure out the first time you are out there fooling around trying it out. also check for minor cracks or leaks when you go and look at it just in case. sounds like a good deal good luck and let us all know if you get it.

If you don't want to drill holes or anything in it then you can go on or to BPS and they have a jon boat seat clamp i believe it is 20 or 25 dollars i just ordered a set and then they have seats for like 20 and up that you can install on the clamps. and you can take the clamps off easy fast and move the seats from boat to boat. of if you decide to get a new boat or something you can keep the seats and it will be easier to sell the boat without holes if you don't sell the seats with the boat. Good luck I hope you get it..I have a 10 foot jon people have alot of negative thoughts on them due to stability but I find mine perfect for stablity and a heck of a lot better then my old canoe.

When you posted this I was writing up my thing about so dissregard what I had to say about the HIN.

CGH- Anyone could have got your boat a HIN at anytime. They where just not assigned automaticaly when you bought boats until later on. SDS- Here is Canada where I am there is a lot of boats that have no titles. Hully Gully where I am which is a "toy Store" often sell their used boats with no titles. And out on the water they often never check for it and if they do then a bill of sale will cut it. But they usually wont pull you over here unless your careless or something or they are looking for that same type of boat or motor that has been stolen. So the best bet would to be if there is one go on www.kijiji.com and post an add in your area and find out the rules or craigslist under boats. and/or call your local minstery of transportation and ask them. Also you can call the local police and ask them to run the serial number as you are looking at "buying" it and there is no title and you want to make sure it is clear before you purchase it and they will run it all for you.
