22lbs 7oz reported from Dixon Ca
Just copied and pasted this from another website: From one of the eyewitnesses, "My brother Dan and I went up there very early this morning for the purpose of fishing the same fish and we were the first car in line at the gate so we thought we were set but when we got to the spot Jed and Mac and their friend were already there on the fish since they camped that night they had the first oppurtunity to get the fish. So there was nothing else we could do but have fun and watch. It took them a little over an hour but finally Mac had it hooked and it went straight to deep water until it slowly came up to the surface and thats when we all noticed it was hooked on the upper side of the back and then they netted it. They weighed it on their berkley boga grip style digital weigher and it came out to be 24-15, then to 25-00 and stayed at that weight. They took some pictures and video of the fish held by their friend and had her back in the water and let her go and she went straight down to the deep water. I don't know where bill hutchenson got the info that they got it on a swimbait because it was actually caught on a jig. The perfect reason for releasing the fish was their 100% belief in catch-and-release and with the fact that it was foul hooked. There you go guys I laid it out for you. Congrats to those 3 guys who finally did it. I just really appreciate the fact that my brother and I were 2 of the 6 people that saw the world record fish in real life. We both even got to touch it! If you were on a fish of that size that goes nose down on your bait where the giant is covering sight of your jig and you think it ate it are you going to take a risk of missing that one and only possible bite you'll ever get from that fish? Nope. Steve Barnett."

22lbs 7oz reported from Dixon Ca
I would say so but not exactly sure......anybody(anybody in California that is,) could see a 23 pounder on a bed and snag it on the outside of the mouth. When there is money on the line (no matter what the sport) SOMEONE WILL CHEAT. Not saying they cheated at all because the story is still in the fog but for him to throw it back w/o having it certified and everything is very strange. But,he could still be bucking for it to be the World Record but admitting to foul-hooking it and the lack of length and girth measurements would leave alot of info to be desired on such a "wanted" fish. Just going by what is known right now,I'd be shocked if it sticks.

All Small?
Heck, just go to the nearest trout stream, jerk a few dozen out and chuck 'em in the lake. Those bass will grow like crazy. Seriously,it could be that there are too many bass in that particular water and competition for food is a problem. That happened at a pond my buddy owns. They initially stocked 5,000 bass fry with the hopes that 2,000 would live. They did.Now there is not one fish in that pond that is over 14-15".......biologist says there are too many bass and recommended harvesting some each trip. Just an idea.I dont know your whole situation.

There's only two bass I would keep ..... the WR and a state record. I would keep the World Record alive if at all possible and find somewhere that would take it in and had a big enough tank so that paople could go look at it.It would be interesting to see how big it could actually get before kicking the bucket.

I highly doubt that it will "stick" as the world record.Too many variables and for him to weigh it only on uncertified scales and throw it back without measuring kinda says "I didnt catch it in a sporting manner".I bet he's banking on catching it legally over the next few days or weeks.I could be wrong though......should be interesting.

can't get the bass
I'd go with a finesse jig, barely hopping or dragged slowly along the bottom. The fish will turn on once the water temps get back up.Dont be discouraged, this time of year is tough......winter to spring transition, heavy winds, rain etc...... Or you could email Bill Dance,he has tons of small pond experience.

Largemouth Bass State Records
Ceph, thats the Paul Duclos bass from a few years back that supposedly weighed 24+ pounds........it was up for debate for a while but the fact that he weighed it on bathroom scales kinda nixed the world record talk.Plus he released it after taking a few pics and weighing it on the bath scales.A true HAWG nonetheless.

PREDICT your '06 hawg

Match the hatch...or not...
Where I'm at,the main forage is shad.I always try to throw something that is the same size as the shad, especially in the fall. Most of the shad pods that travel to the backs of the creeks here are between 1.5" and 2.5" long.Over the past few years,I have noticed that these small shad all have a faint yellow stripe on their sides. If I'm fishing cranks and cant get a bite,I will put a yellow stripe on my shad color cranks with a marker or a hi-liter.That yellow stripe,as little a detail as it may be,makes a difference sometimes. I try to match the hatch when conditions call for it,(when the bite seems tough). But when the bass are "feeding up",I dont think color and size have all that much to do with it.

Gimme some tube tips!
We have some good responses going here so far......I'm just mainly looking for some basic info about the tubes that may put a few fish in the boat.On my home lake it seems like a tube is not really necessary but yet probably not used as much as it could be.Plus,I'm more of a power-fisherman and throwing the tube kinda scares me. ;D I will mainly be fishing them around laydowns and docks. Thanks for all the info so far.

BPS XPS vs. XPSi chargers
No big deal about installing it.Just find a good spot and "screw it to it".Hook 'em up and plug it in.Just remember to unplug it before you pull away from your house.Or pull the chargers plug outside of your boat to charge it. Yes,Pro Mariner makes them as far as I know, thats what the dude at BPS says anyway.

Gimme some tube tips!
Been putting them off long enough,I have a few hundred tubes that have never gotten wet.Any tube pro's want to give up a little info? Such as: When?Where?Best Technique?Best type weight/hooks?And any other important info you want to give up. Let's hear it.

Fisherman athletes?
I gotcha RW! I call shotgun!!

Fisherman athletes?
Those who doubt the athlete factor should have to spend 8 hours on the front of a boat throwing a DD22 with 3 ft waves and 40 mph winds during the dog days of summer. ...then they can form an opinion.

Bill Dance handling fish
Oh,I've thought about it plenty.I would bet he has friends that own small private lakes and ponds and he pays them with cash or free tackle to keep everyone out except for him.Or Strike King,Stren and all his sponsors have all chipped in and made those ponds for him. It's a very smart ploy either way.......I just wish people didnt worship the guy so much for catching those pond bass all the time. I'm not saying the guy cant fish but he'd have a little harder time getting 30 minutes of fish-catching footage if he actually fished like everyone else on the big lakes. But if he did that, that would cost the film crew more time and money, thus cutting down on the profit margin.
