  1. When you are trying to see arches on your graph, you must be at idle speed to get a full arch.If your'e going any faster than idle speed, your arch will turn into more of a straight line. The longer the fish is in the cone of the finder, the better the arch you will see.

That could explain why the bite is better at dawn and dusk.....THEY CANT SEE VERY WELL!They just hit anything during those times.

Thats a question in which the answer can only be speculated.....nobody has ever looked through the eyes of a bass as far as I know. One would think that since a fish lives underwater, the eyesight would be sharp down below but.......
  4. I saw a picture of the record meanmouth in a magazine a while back.Pretty cool.
  5. RW,you ever caught one of those "meanmouths"?
  6. I've owned both and have no complaints on either brand. My latest purchase of a trolling motor was yesterday and it was a Motorguide Pro.Why did I buy the Motorguide?I got a smokin' deal.70# thrust,24V,45" shaft for $460 at BPS.
  7. I've read alot of the articles about Perry's record catch and although it seems fishy that there was no pic,I still believe it.Aside from the "no pic,no fish" theory,I've not heard much else that would disprove it. Is disprove a word? :-?
  8. LOL! Can I go? It will be another month and a half until fish around me start spawning.
  9. Thats awesome L-Rod,thanks for showing us the pics.Lots of people will never get a chance to watch the shocking process live.I've seen it live here in Va. and there are more fish in the water around you than you think!
  10. Flat crankbait Husky Jerk Jig
  11. I cant quite figure out why anyone in their right mind would want to go catch some ol' billfish that is probably longer than him, stronger than him, weighs more than him,and can jump higher than him......in the Bahamas of all places! ;D I hope you get to go man. 8-)
  12. My favorite way to catch a bass is on a deep diving crankbait. Rod: American Rodsmiths Fiberglass DF76 Reel: David Fritts crankbait reel 4.7:1 ratio Line: 12# Yo Zuri Hybrid Lures: Rapala DT16,Norman DD22,Mann's 20+ Anytime I am fishing deep water points or humps the crank is the first thing I throw.Once I've got the bait down,I slow it to a crawl.I want my bait to be bouncing slowly along the bottom, deflecting off rocks, limbs or whatever is down there.I always stay in contact with the structure.I like to have the bait just "strolling" along the bottom. When I do hit something,I pause the retrieve briefly and then resume. Walking the bait across the bottom like I described appears to a bass to be just some random fish, swimming along, feeding on the bottom.Easy meal.
  13. Shocking is awesome to see.The shock rods go down and the fish come floating up.Take a video camera L-rod,get those hawgs on tape.
  14. If you're planning on being in the middle of the lake and choppy water is a factor,I'd get a V-bottom.The sides are deeper and are overall more stable than a jon.A jon (around here) is mainly used for floating rivers. The flat bottom gets across rocks better than a V-bottom.
  15. Just to add a little bit.......I use braid on a carolina rig too and have for many years. The braid on a c-rig has multiple benefits, especially if you make really long casts to cover water. 1. No stretch means a hard, quality hookset 2. It is super sensitive which enables you to detect a strike easier 3. If you get hung up,most times all you lose is the carbon leader and your hook 4. You can read the bottom easier (rock, mud, sand etc) all have a different "feel"
  16. Here's a pic of my boat.....you can see the Kwik Kick if you look real close.
  17. I have one.I'll take a picture of it in the next day or so and put it on here.I had never seen one, before I bought my current boat.I wish I had known of them a long time ago. Here's a link to one on eBay,maybe the guy can email you some better pics. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MOTORGUIDE-KWIK-KICK-2_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ26455QQitemZ4612264555QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  18. A drop shot is the most obvious choice IF the fish are on the bottom. If the fish are suspended at around 27-32 but up off the bottom,a spoon would be a good choice. A "float n fly" could be deadly if you have their depth pinpointed. You'd have to use a speed stop but you could put it right in their face with the float 'n fly.
  19. Nice. I hope you drew yourself a map and x'ed everything that you found. That one stump looks like the perfect home for a big fat pre-spawn staging female, waiting for the water to warm so she can roll up on that flat and take care of business.
  20. Maybe the red-eyed ones we catch have been smokin' a big fat one! 8-)
  21. Speaking of elbow problems.....I couldnt effectively set a hook with my left arm the last 2 months of the season last year. After testing it was determined that I have tennis elbow.Doc gave me a cortisone shot and now it feels like I have a brand new arm.But !@#$%^&*, that cortisone shot HURT!
  22. LOL! ;D I aint too proud to use a zig zag!
  23. I have to get back in touch with my jigs.I hardly used jigs at all the past 2 years.Seems I've gotten into a pattern of fishing too fast and the jig just doesnt allow me to cover lots of water like I want. I'd probably catch a few more fish if I would just stay in one place long enough to throw my jig.......it's hard to do though, plus I'm buying a new trolling motor next week. :
  24. after you replace these brushpiles you can drop me a hint as to where they are hint #1- up river from Halesford! that narrows it down from about 20,000 acres to 10,000.
