  1. I do have a different opinion about Kimbo now since he's been on TUF. It seems like he's actually a decent guy. He admits that he's got weaknesses and it appears that he's training like he wants to improve. He was kind of thrown into the fire in Elite XC, pretty much going straight from the street and into the cage. Now his career has slowed down a little bit to where he can actually learn MMA.
  2. GO RAIDERS!

  7. No fighters leave the house now after a loss. It's been that way for a couple seasons now. They stick around and keep on training in case someone else gets injured/sick and cant make a fight....in this case, it will be Kimbo that fights for someone. What Roy did to Kimbo is not much different than what Lesnar did to Mir in their second fight. Lesnar used his weight advantage to hold Mir down and land some punches. Roy did the same except his punches weren't as powerful as Lesnar's. Only difference was, Mir has the ability to get up but couldn't because of Lesnar's strength and weight advantage, so they called it. (plus he was getting pounded). Kimbo doesnt have the ability to get up and it didnt really matter if Roy was hitting him hard or not....he couldn't do anything about it either way and there is a rule about being able to defend yourself. And if you think about it....getting put in a crucifix position for minutes at a time like Kimbo was, you aint doing much defending of yourself. I think Kimbo should cut to 205 after the show and fight with guys closer to his weight range. If he stays a heavyweight he'll be giving up 30-40+ pounds almost every fight. Maybe after he fights at 205 for a while and gains some skills he could move back to HW and have a better chance of doing something.

  9. I definitely think LSU is over-rated this year. But, as we know, being in the SEC carries a lot of weight with the guys who make the polls.
  10. Although the new format was INTERESTING (and a bit confusing)....this Title of AOY, in a sense, doesnt have the same meaning. In the past, the AOY went to the angler that was most consistent through out the entire YEAR....not just 2 mini-tournaments. That said, I'm glad KVD won it. If he (or Skeet) had not won it, I think it could've been a messy situation.

  17. As you know, crankin' is basically a trial and error deal. You might have 20 crankbaits in your box but only 2 of those 20 will appeal to the fish on certain days. It's imperative to pick a crank that will allow you to fish your surroundings effectively. Knowing the seasonal trends and patterns should at least give you a decent idea of what style crank to start with. Retrieval speed is tricky. There are so many factors that play into the mood of a fish (weather, current, water clarity, etc..) that you have to keep switching it up until you start drawing strikes. There are times that the fish want a crankbait to be going 90 mph and digging a ditch in the bottom, other times they just want it to deflect lazily off a rock, but then again, they might want it being ripped hard through the grass. Trial and error at it's very best. Once you get some experience with cranks, it will get easier to pick the right crank for the situations you face. Once that starts to happen, you'll know you're getting better. But until then, remember, there is no magic retrieve, no magic retrieve speed and no magic color. Assess the situation at hand, pick your crank accordingly, experiment with speeds, stay in contact with something when you can and don't be scared to switch it up when you're not getting bit. Good luck.
  18. Looks like a couple of productive months on the water from where I'm sittin'. Way to go Simp! (easy on that trolling motor fellas!) ;D
  19. Yeah, the standings I posted were the final standings from the last tournament, not final AOY standings.
  20. It does work...and if you are really serious about catching fish with a certain bait, take everything out of the boat except the bait you want to fish. You learn real fast like that.
  21. Sorry to hear that CWB. Prayers sent.
  22. I'm not big on the Roumba's yet (havent used them very much) but those Jackall Aragon's are great cranks.
  23. I watched 103 although it wasnt the best card they could have put together. I was glad to see Vitor hammer Franklin though.
