  1. Yeah, Kimbo is trying to get into the big show. He will probably do okay considering most fighters that they put on TUF have limited MMA experience, just like him. He's definitely got to find some ground skills somewhere because I expect his opponents to shoot on him early and often. It's doubtful that anybody in their right mind wants to stand up and slug with him. His cardio will get better as long as he follows the training regimen that his coaches set forth. I expect they'll have Kimbo working on his weak spots (ground, cardio) most of the time. Should be interesting though. They're making Kimbo climb the ladder just like everybody else. He might have it in him, he might not.
  2. If buying new is an option, go with a new boat. Having a warranty on a boat is priceless. Going used, you really dont know what you're getting. At least with a new boat you can clear up any issues with the dealership. Issues with a used boat are cleared up with your wallet. From what I've seen so far on the Z9's I've fished on, Nitro has raised the bar on their past quality problems. Triton's have problems also, as does most every other mass produced boat brand. Buying new from a reputable dealer is key with a new boat buy. You can buy a new boat anywhere but the service departments reputations at each dealership should be considered as a big selling point. The dealers with bad service reputations get those reputations for a reason. With the way the economy is now, it's defintely a buyer's market. If you play your cards right when negotiating a price between dealerships, I'd say you could get some upgrades thrown in for little or nothing. It all depends on how bad they want and need to make a sale. The longer you haggle with them, the better off you are. If you are in a rush to buy a boat, do not let them know that. When you are haggling with these guys, just remember that you're the one holding the money and dont settle for anything less than what you want.
  3. With all the scams going around these days I have adopted the old saying "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is" . The scammers would probably get more interest from potential buyers if they actually got a little closer to the market price and it just looked like a good deal, not an insanely great deal. Most can see right thru the insanely great deals and write them off as scams from the get-go. I would be skeptical of anyone not wanting to make the deal in person. This goes for anything, not just boats.
  4. 86 is great considering the time off. Last time I played, I broke 100 just like I usually do.....ended up with a solid 109. ;D
  5. No matter where we have the annual trip, there's going to be members who don't like the choice. We expect that. We cant possibly please 21,000 + members. Ultimately, when the decision is made to make the trip or not, those who can arrange their schedules for the event and want to be there, will be there. The annual roadtrip isn't strictly about catching monster bass. It's more about friends getting together and having a great time, good food and meeting new people....with some fishing thrown in for good measure. Although there weren't many 'big' bass caught by our group at Kentucky Lake, I had a great time and I consider that roadtrip an overall success. And from reading the feedback from the attending members, they all had a great time as well. I expect most of those who were at Kentucky will show up at Pickwick too.
  6. I can see the thought process behind the 2 ounce rule but it still doesnt make it right. Even if they ran the weights out into thousandths (say 22.569), it's more than the existing record (22.4??). With today's technology, I would guess the scales around today are probably a little more accurate than what they were when Perry weighed his bass. Just because his was supposedly weighed on certified scales, doesn't mean the scales were on. Over half of the people who've seen pics of Perry's fish are wondering if those scales were calibrated on a regular basis. ;D I hope this monster is recognized as the new world record, but.....
  7. The 2 ounce rule - definition: the dumbest rule ever. I hope this fish is recognized as the new world record.
  8. In my opinion, the flappin hogs are one of the best jig trailers you can buy. ....and Burley, my buddy in Blacksburg probably has some, I'll call and check. If he does, I'll grab some and send 'em to you before next weekend.
  9. Just for clarification purposes, these hawgs you are talking about catching are hawgs you catch in a net for your partner, correct?
  10. DING! DING! DING! WE HAVE A WINNER FOLKS! I'd bet the farm that if any of the 'go fast' boat companies laid out enough money to become the primary boat sponsor of the Elite Tour (knocking out Triton), put up contingency money and also sponsored several of the top pro's, you'd see every Tom, Joe and Harry buying that brand all of the sudden and your local lake would be over flowing with 'em.
  11. I agree with Keith. 1 oz bigger is 1 oz bigger. Plus, this is bass fishing not ping pong, you shouldnt have to win by 2. That is a HAWG!!
  12. The fun is over fellas, gotta put this one to sleep.

  14. Great haul man! Seriously. I'd probably pass out if I saw a Roboworm in any Wal Mart store in my area. The clearance racks around here consist of BB sinkers, Rooster Tails and nylon stringers. Oh yeah, almost forgot the Trout Magnets. : I'll double your money on a few bags of those Cut Tails if you want.
  15. I didnt really knock anything out of the air but..... I was tossing a Chatterbait around some docks a couple years back and there were some ducks up on this one dock. Well, one of the ducks had walked to the front corner and my line happened to fall across his back on a cast. Once my bait hit the water and he felt the line on him, he took off flying. I wasnt sure whether the Chatterbait had hooked him or not but he was flying away from me high and fast. My drag was screamin' and my spool was getting low on line. He made a turn to the right so I stopped the spool with my thumb and gave it a quick jerk....my chatterbait (with a few feathers attached) fell from the sky and plopped right into the lake. He kept flying and squawking but I dont think he was hurt. His thick feathers must have stopped the hook before it got him. I was very relieved when he and my Chatterbait went their separate ways. Weird experience without a doubt and I dont cast that close to ducks or geese anymore.
  16. Bass clubs are notorious for having squabbles. I've been in bass clubs that have come to blows during meetings. It's ridiculous. It's like being in a kindergarten class and every kid wants the same crayon. I'm not exactly sure of your particular situation but I feel sure in saying that if it was me, I would most definitely confront the person(s) starting rumors and exhibiting the symptoms of diarrhea of the mouth. If the dam is leaking, you have to plug the source of the leak. Otherwise, it will never stop and most likely become a bigger problem. Has anything else happened with this recently?
  17. Rob, on the soft plastics I like to throw something big (like a 10" worm) on a texas rig and something small/finesse type on the carolina rig or the dropshot. That way I've covered both bases....big and small. I have a tendency to stick with the 10" worm if I go back to a spot and I change up the smaller bait on the c-rig. All of this is just 'in general'. Baits and presentations change with the seasons as well as fish locations. If I'm on a spot deep enough for a deep crank, you can bet I'm going to throw one. The key to it all is covering the whole water column thoroughly. It's easier to throw several different baits on 'spots' or structure that you know holds fish. If you are just burning the banks, it's hard to keep changing over and over because the structure and cover is constantly changing as well. Just burning the banks like in the springtime, I crank most times until I get a bite or two, then I can slow down and start working the whole water column.
  18. It is about dern time you got a GOOD trolling motor! No more excuses! Got a good deal, really couldn't pass it up. I'll see you on the 11th.
  19. Oh yeah? I might ought to get one then.
  20. Awesome hat Big-O !!! Nice red too, by the way....
  21. 10" Anaconda color doesn't matter
  22. I will usually hit a spot with a topwater first. I can cover the spot real quick and a lot of times, with a topwater bait, you'll have some blowups or you'll have fish follow you in. That's a real good way to see what's holding there. (I'll throw 2 different topwaters - Rico and buzzbait) After the topwater test is over, I usually go to a crankbait or a trick stick to see if there are any suspenders wanting to eat. (usually a crank that splits the depth I'm fishing, then the stickbait) After that, I will work something along the bottom.(carolina rig, t-rig, drop shot) Some fish on the bottom may be a little lethargic and want something slow and easy to eat. (I will generally throw 2 different bottom baits before I leave for the next spot.) When all is said and done, I've covered the whole water column on that one spot before I leave it. I WILL go back to a spot that I have confidence in later in the day.
  23. You're exactly right. Some members just like to get the last word in no matter what. Once you've said what you wanted to say, (respectfully), leave it alone.
  24. Yeah, worded just slightly differently, Branuss would have hit a home run with his statement. He had it in the bag but it got away at the last minute. There's so many people on here that come from different walks of life, it's staggering. People are going to clash, without a doubt. Clashing is fine as long as everyone involved is respectful. Once they cross that line.....well, you know.
