  1. I hear they fight like crazy
  2. Yeah Rob, that would be awesome to have a threepeat! and Ron, YES try some mattlures, they work
  3. These baits are amazing!!! Some of you will remember my post from last night with the 8 lber... well, i've done it again. My friend and I went back to the lake this afternoon after I did a few quick repairs to my Ultimate Male Bluegill with a woodburner. I knew it wasn't a permanent fix, but it would hold. I started throwin it out in a spot where I had gotten a hit on it the day before, and on about my fifth cast I saw a monster flash up from the depths to engulf it!!! She peeled out some drag, but I soon horsed her in with my heavy rod and lipped her. She was about as chunky as the one from last night but a bit longer. The digi read out exactly 9 lbs. We tried to snap a bunch of pics but the camera died after only 2 > so they aren't as good as last night's pics. The hawg unfortunately tore my bait to pieces after such a quick repair job :'( and I saw the broken form of a bluegill floating on the surface after I released her. I snagged it with the weighted hook left on my line, but it is beyond repair with a big rip down the middle and the paddletail completely gone.... :'( It had a good run though! Can't complain about an 8 and a 9 in less than 24 hours!!!! If I had done a better repair job, that bait would have produced many, many more hawgs. Thanks Mattlures
  4. i told you dave! my advice is as good as any, just jig it 100 yards across those points! haha
  5. yeah i know i just mean for future reference and stuff

  7. thanks paul! yeah swimbait fever is everywhere and its great. when you get bit on a swimbait you know only good things can happen, its quite thrilling actually. hoping to put up my second DD soon
  8. in that pond I could catch multiple bass over 5 on that lure every time I go out. I'm not complaining, thats for sure! It certainly made my night
  9. 2 fish actually yeah kind of a setback but it looks easy enough to repair to me. i'll just whip out that woodburner and do my magic
  10. I ordered a mattlure ultimate male bluegill a while ago but I haven't been able to use it until tonight. I tied it on my heavy rod and chucked a few casts into a honey hole of mine. On the third cast I got a quick tap and then a big hit from a bass that took off running parallel to the shore. I lost it soon after but it got me excited. I moved over to my favorite spot and casted around for a while with high hopes. My friend was casting some Trick Sticks near me and we were just starting up a convorsation when I felt a nice hit just a few feet from the shoreline. I quickly got it in and lipped the beast. I whooped with joy when I saw the belly on that thing! We snapped a few pics with the swimbait in the mouth and grabbed the scale..... of course... it won't turn on!!!!! >!!! I was sooo angry... I frantically started searching for spare line to snip so I could get some measurments for later. As my friend searched for some scissors I tried the scale one more time and the display screen flashed zeros ;D The bass went 8 lbs. exactly on the digi and made for some great pics. Unfortunately it ripped the Mattlure while trudging stubbornly through some weeds, but I think I can fix it. I LOVE MATTLURES!!!! here are some pics:
  11. yeah i've heard all these ideas before but what i'm wondering is how they got such a large population up with all the bigger fish, snakes, herrons, and hawks we have. And I've never heard of spots in a pond, normally they need large bodies of water
  12. I fish a local pond that has only had largemouth, catfish, carp, and bluegill in it for over 18 years now. This summer I started catchin some bass that had brighter bellies and clearer markings. I didn't pay attention or notice at first, but then I began to wonder. So the next time I caught one I looked and the tooth patch and dorsal fin and, sure enough, it was a spotted bass. They haven't stocked any in there and there are no tributaries to the pond. How do y'all think they got in there and established a large population????? :-?
  13. anybody heard of a meanmouth before? Is it a smallie/spotted hybrid or something?
  14. anyone know some good amateur, non-boater tournaments in the Atlanta area??? I want to start gettin into some for the first time.
  15. anybody familiar with some amateur, non-boater tournaments in Atlanta area? I wanna start gettin into a few for the first time
  16. yeah probably... ugh... i hate that club
  17. look up articles and videos on this website. There is SO much to look thorugh here and it really helps. I learned jigging and swimbaiting simply from using this website
  18. wow good stuff! nice bass
  19. good job paul! always crankin out those big bass
  20. Hey anyone in the NAFC??? I know it isn't the best club ever, but I was wondering if anyone knows how to keep track of catch and release contest points. I've lost track of what I have sent in, and I want to know if there is some sort of online way to keep track of what you have sent in and how many points you have.
  21. I've been casting baitcasters for years and my old ones broke I just have one now. I get too many backlashes for my taste and I can't get the accuracy or distance I want from this reel so I always use spinners. I get so annoyed when I turn on the TV and see guys castin away; whippin it out there, pitchin and flippin, etc.... I can't do that!
  22. I can't take it anymore! I've tried different lines, different lure weights, lubricant products, and more. I cannot go an entire fishing tirp without backlash. If I set the break high enough to prevent it, the accuracy and range of the cast are shot. Maybe I just have a crappy combo??? UGH i'm soo frustrated... your thoughts appreciated
  23. Nice pics man. We need to get those other hawgs next time. I'm gettin me some of those mattlures finally
