  1. i ordered one two days ago and got free two day shipping by signing up for a free trial of Amazon Prime. It arrived today in perfect condition and i am very pleased. I paired it up with a Quantum Tour Edition PT and will hopefully be using it tonight

I would go with Rattle Traps, Buzzbaits, and other noisy baits first and if that doesnt work then just go with what you have confidence in. If you have confidence in buzzbaits and rattletraps, even better 8-)
  3. I think the reason that some rods are made w/out foregrips is because the cork dampens the vibrations of the blank, reducing sensitivity. What i make of it is that even when you are holding the blank under the reel seat, it is still more sensitive because the cork of the foregrip did not dampen the vibrations. The reargrip is not a problem because your hand is ahead of it, so it cant dampen the sensitivity until after it has reached your hand. In my opinion, if it makes the rod more sensitive, its worth it.
  4. i agree with billbrum, 4000 is definitly a little big for bass. 2500 is a good all around size. Good luck
  5. i have a Shimano Sahara, 59.99 new about a year ago. On sale for 49.99 at Cabelas and ***, im pretty sure they are at Dicks as well. Shimano Symetre (dont have one but have heard great reviews) is on sale for i believe 69.99 if you would consider higher, from what ive heard the symetre is a big step up from the sahara for a (relatively) small sum
  6. i havent fished swimbaits, but tackletour gave the okuma a good review in its swimbait rods war, a Best Value Award, and said for the price it cant be beat and is a steal. I definitely think thats the way to go

I was just wondering what everybody thinks about Lucky Craft lures. Are they worth the money? Are only some worth it? If so, which ones are and which aren't? Thanks in advance, Chris
  9. The Accurist PT/ Fish Eagle II combo at Cabelas is on sale for $130. You can pick what model reel and what model rod you want http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/common/search/search-results1.jsp?QueryText=accurist+pt&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=accurist+pt&noImage=0
  10. I have some of the rapala dts that came with the sureset hooks. The only thing that i did was i replaced the front treble with a normal treble because i didnt like the way the sureset trable hung so low. I thought that if i put on a normal treble, it would create less hangups on the bottom. So, i would suggest putting them on the tail of crankbaits, but not in the middle or front.
  11. ok thanks for the replies, i think i might swap out the hooks for some smaller trebles, the saltwater trebles are pretty big
  12. My dads friend recently gave us a box of about 50 various lures. He used to bass fish, but now only flyfishes, so he donated his lures to us . In the box, the were some storm wiggle warts and short warts, rapala original floaters, storm thundersticks, some Mega Bait jerkbaits, Spro cranks, and about 20 or so Yozuri jerkbaits (i believe they are crystal minnows or something similar). I have fished the storm lures and rapalas with success, but i was just wondering if anyone here has used the yozuri lures, as there is certainly an abundance of them. Also, most of the yozuris have saltwater hooks, so are they intended for saltwater use (stripers maybe?)
  13. i prefer a 6' 6" MH Fast rod for casting accuracy and enough backbone to pull the fish from lighter cover
  14. I use a 7 foot mod fast action rod for crankbaits and topwaters. The slower action is good because it keeps constant pressure on the fish and prevents it from gaining any slack in the line which it could use to throw the hook. If you have noticed losing a lot of fish on crankbaits with a fast action rod, a mod fast action will help lessen that number
  15. I just recently received a Quantum Tour Edition PT Burner edition reel as a gift. I've never used a reel with a gear ratio of 7:1, so i was just wondering what you guys like to use a reel like this for. I was thinking Spinnerbaits, is it good for those? Thanks in advance, Chris
  16. I was just wondering what the best all around line is. I've really only used mono (big game) so i was just wondering if there is another type of line or another brand that would be better.
  17. i also would recommend a rod with a softer action like fishbear said. i feel that it helps prevent me from pulling the lure out of the bass's mouth. the bps crankin' stick is on sale at bass pro for $40 so thats in your price range and its a composite with a slower action so you might want to check it out. P.S. You may not like the way a fiberglass or composite rod handles, so preferably check it out before you buy it
  18. Im only 15 so i can spend whatever i have, but usually its only like $40 a month (plus another $30 or so of my dads money )
  19. My friend has a daiwa tierra and it is a really nice, smooth reel. He has nothing but good things to say about it. Ive been thinking of picking one up as well for a new finesse rig. Good luck im sure youll be happy with whatever you choose
  20. I was just checking out the gycb website and saw that they also make rods. One rod i saw was a 7' Spinning rod with hypalon grips, an IMX blank, and SiC guides for only $100 (granted $21 shipping charge as well). Im wondering if anyone has used one of these rods or a similar GYCB rod since it seems like a pretty good deal. Thanks in advance.
  21. x2 RW and Brian Reeves, they work great skirt up or skirt down on a 3/0 EWG and have caught some pretty big fish
  22. im 15 years old and recently started to get serious about bass fishing. So far, i have a couple setups, but i would like some recomendations for my next setup. Currently i have: - Citica 201D w/ a Cabelas XMLTi Worm/Jig Rod for soft plastics - Daiwa Procaster Special Edition on a Avid 7' Medium Cranking Rod for all treble hook baits (the procaster is the green one that was for sale at Cabelas about 1 1/2 years ago w/ 9 bearings) - Shimano Sahara on a 7' Medium St Croix Premier Rod for Finesse - Penn 420 SSg w/ a UL Ugly Stik just for fun - I recently purchased a Quantum Tour Edition PT in the burner model to use it for lipless cranks and burning spinner/buzzbaits. The only rod i have for it now is a Shimano Convergence 6' 6" Medium so i guess thatll have to do until i get the money for a nicer rod Again, just looking for opinions to see if im headed in the right direction. Any recomendations for a nice spinnerbait rod would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance ;D
  23. Thanks Aaron I think i am going to go with a 6:1 ratio reel after what you and RW said, just dont know which one yet
  24. Alright, thanks again
  25. I just checked out the Chronarch on Tackle Warehouse, looks like a great reel. Im a lefty so i would need the CH51Mg model, which is out of stock :-/ The only thing i noticed is that the reel is a 6.2:1 reel, from what i've read, i thought a 5:1 ratio reel would be the best bet, does it really matter that much or is it more of a personal preference type thing
