  1. Not all ponds are dinkholes (is that a word ? it is now). If you get the ok, fish 'em all.
  2. I'll bet that mailman gets quite the Christmas card this December.
  3. All of the wire size advice given was right on. Don't neglect the connectors themselves. If the male to female connections are not tight, this too will cause excessive draw. These can be difficult to find as the terminals are often encased inside of connector bodies. Just because the two halves snap together securely does not mean the pins inside did the same.
  4. Jeez, doesn't anyone fish just to have a good time anymore ? All of this obsession with weight is ridiculous. "My scale is accurate within 1/1000th of an ounce" "No way that fish is five pounds" blah blah blah. Enough already. If you catch a fish that made your day, congrats ! The weight is irrelevant. Post a pic, be proud of your catch. And get back on the water for more.
  5. Me too. And I HATE wearing hats. Except when I fish, then I have to have my old Detroit Diesel ballcap. Can't catch fish without it :
  6. Yup, that's it. The potassium will help. I get charley horses that bring me to tears. They get me in the middle of the night. Another wive's tale I've heard that helps is drinking the juice from a pickle jar
  7. I've gone back to the Tru Turn and the staight shank hooks. Way better hookup ratio. The only time I use ewg is on tubes and other thick baits
  8. I found a torn up Tiki Stick on the floor of my boat that still smelled like it came out of the bag. It has been there for weeks. It will still catch fish. I also have soft plastics from the 1980's that are as fresh as the day I got them.
  9. That's it right there.
  10. If I told you the secret, then I would have to kill you......... I decorate the trees with my secret lures.
  11. Sooooooo... the Pflueger not good enough for ya, huh ? ;D ;D Just bustin', glad to see another UL convert. UL rules.
  12. Your son is Johnny Knoxville ?
  13. Cargo shorts rule.
  14. Cabela's backpack. Keep an eye out for sales, got mine for $25. Great pack. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/standard-pod.jsp?id=0042540&navCount=3&parentId=cat20327&masterpathid=&navAction=push&cmCat=MainCatcat20166-cat20327_TGP&parentType=index&indexId=cat20327&rid=

Wow, talk about spending your advertising dollars wisely.... :-? When does the PETA ad start ?
  16. That's how we fished for bluegills and perch when we were kids. The Coke bottle is a good idea. We used to use the string holder/handle that comes with kites. As far as bait, anything that flies, hops or crawls is fair game. Something will eat it. Go into the member section and look up Fish Chris. He's a California guy who has caught HUGE bass on nightcrawlers. Nothing fancy about the way he does it either. A single crawler hooked once through the head. Thats it !
  17. Maybe it was supposed to be called "Fool a Fisherman" spray......
  18. That's just wrong. Funny as hell, but still wrong
  19. Nice fat toad ! Did you get her on 'lite tackle' ?
  20. Anyone spot me $50 'till payday ? anyone ?...............Hellooooo........ Reminds me of a guy who talked his way into going camping with us years ago. Each of us agreed to bring certain food items so we'd eat good every night. He shows up with ketchup and mustard. I kid you not. So we got him good and drunk and let him sleep outside in a hammock. Lets just say the bugs feasted that night.
  21. Whereabouts in Jersey ?
  22. For the reel, $40 gets you a Pflueger Trion - the 4720 or the slightly larger (but still UL size) 4725. I've been beating mine to death for two seasons now. I can't kill it. My ONLY dislike is the rosewood handle, I'd rather have a soft handle. The drag on this thing is superb. Seven bearings. Read the reviews, you'll see what I mean. Now that leaves you $60 for a rod. I had a BPS Micro Lite, but the tip snapped clean off in June while I was away on a fishing trip. Bought a cheap Daiwa to finish the trip out. The Micro Lite was a decent rod, but I'm moving up to a St. Croix Premier for my next UL stick. I was 6 months out of warranty and BPS would not do anything for me.
  23. Another dilema some of us face is that while we would love to keep some of our catch to eat, there are health concerns. You guys out in the rural areas might be ok, but a lot of my local waters are questionable. Would you eat a Jersey fish ? (can't wait to see Muddy's reply to this )

Venom is a good one. When the conditions call for finesse, Strike King's 2.5" Bitsy Tube is a killer.
