What time do you have to go fishing to beat this heat in Texas?

Featured Replies

It is over 100 + each day and doesn't cool down until late in the night or early morning. I can not get over the heat and seems to affect me more now than ever in my life @62 years. I need help to deal with this issue, any suggestions?

Help an Ole' fart out you guys :-/

A towel, lots of ice/water mix in your cooler and you are ready to go. Soak the towel in the water, twist & remove excess water, put towel on your back, repeat as necessary.

That 's what I do.  :)

Night fishing.

Night fishing.

x2.  If you don't like to night fish do what Raul said and drink a LOT of water or Gatorade.

On the road at 4am...off the water by 10am.  The heat really gets to us fat boys too.

Monday & Tuesday night from 10 pm to 2 am: total of 4 bass

Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday mornings & evenings: total 46 bass.

Mornings (5:30-9:00) higher numbers smaller size and evenings 6:30-til) lower numbers but larger size

Lures: spinner baits, buzz baits, Rat-L-Traps, & worms

Perfect! Simply draping a small hand towel or bandanna around

your neck works fine. Just remember, if you get really hot

and start to feel cold, it's time to jump in the lake or river. Summer

fishing on the Tennessee River involves getting in and drifting a

few miles with the boat ever hour or so.

Fall, winter and early spring would be good times. :)

It seems like anytime is a good time based on this. I guess it depends on what your looking ofr and if you devised a way to beat the heat like Raul does. I guess I would fish whenever I feel the need. Believe me it would not hurt for me to shed a pounds.

I was thinking about fishing last night but went to the grocery store at 8:30pm to get a few things for the baby...  and it was still 101 degrees.  I stayed in the A/C.   ;D

Well I fish though the heat but I'm also 18 so I guess that helps.LOL

Here are a few tips

light clothing- stay away from browns, blacks, and dark greens

X2 what Raul said

Drink drink drink water

Fish early or late

Nights were an absolute bomb with those 4 being caught on Tuesday night about an hour after dark; the middle of the day has been dead as well.

Fall, winter and early spring ? ......... ain 't got no friggin 'clue whatcha talkin ' bout. :-?

For us guyz down here in the merry ole south the term "ice fishing" means fishing for the last ice cubes in the cooler at the end of the day.

Acclimation.  If you find that you can't stand the heat, thats generally a good reason to spend time in it.

Nothing makes the weather outside hotter than sitting in the AC all day.  The more you let your body adjust to the heat the more comfortable you will be.

As others have said, water water water and more water.  Long sleeves and pants will actually keep you cooler than short ones.

Too hot and humid down here, bass fished maybe 3 times for only 30 minutes the last few weeks.  I go 4-5 in the morning but it's still hot the no seem ums are terrible this year.

My bass season is Jan thru March

I think the best advise is to get out in the heat more and drink more liquids.  I do stay under the AC probably too much, Thanks guys. 8-)

Honestly, I feel your pain. I live in Arkansas and we are experiencing 100+ heat index, sticky-humid conditions, mosquitos the size of small charter jets, and a stagnant airflow. I have found lately I really catch some great bass at night. Especially on rock points. I've caught some of my largest fish ever in pitch black conditions as the bass move from deep water to cool off, to the shallow, rock areas to feed.

Because the rocks cool much much faster than clay, sand, etc. the bass seem to stack up on these piles. Thus... its a feeding frenzy.

Man.. it makes me want to go right now! Of course... one thing that drives me crazy is that I can't see where I am pitching my lure...

Anyone know any good lighting systems... or any way... to lessen hang-ups during night-time/black-out conditions... ? especially when structure fishing?

It was 114 here today. When I go fishing I'm usually on the lake for 30+ hours straight. Hit the water @ 12:00 P.M. first day and overnight to about 6:00 the next day. I have one of those 5 gallon drinking water coolers you can buy at Lowe's and fill it with a block of ice, a small bag of ice, then top it off with water. The ice will last @ 48 hours, so I have ice water the whole time. I also have a bimini top on my boat for shade, and if I need further cooling, I'll take a dip in the water.  I also wear a fairly wide brim camo hat that I bought at Wal-Mart that has a mesh crown for ventalation, a light weight turquoise colored long sleeve fishing shirt from Cabela's that is rated SPF35, and white painters pants from Dickies that are light weight fabric. This gives me nearly full protection from ultraviolet rays, and  I can stay quite comfortable with this combination on any fishing trip. 8-) Happy fishing.
