"lunker lake".........and the 9.4lb'er, good times!!

Featured Replies

i went out to the old secret "lunker lake" this morning for some quality fishing on my day off.  It was a little slow all day really, my pal and i hit the water at about 7:30am.  We only managed to catch about 6 fish or so between the two of us, but this one i caught saved the trip for sure!!

it was about 8:30 when she hit, and it was hard!  She started pulling drag and my heart started pounding.  At first i figured the fish to be near 7 lbs while fighting it........

but when it got closer, i knew i had a true lunker on the line.....

she hit the scale @ 9.4 lbs.

..........my day off is now complete. ;)

Lunker Lake strikes again.  Let's see Guntersville, Fork, Amistad, Lunker.  Yup, looks about right.

.... i feel very fortunate to have such an amazing fishery as this one to myself (and one good fishing pal).  Im very lucky to have stumbled upon it, and fished it long enough to see its true potential.

I expect to one day fish that lake with you, even if I have to be blindfolded when you take me to it...

So what you are saying is, he should hold it a little closer to his body, so that there is more Sasquatch in the frame? :-/

;D Nice fish dude

I love the dark color of that fish! She's got a good tan!

Awesome fish.

I agree, I really like the dark coloring.

Do you think that the lake is a little over populated? Seems like a lot of the toads you catch from "Lunker Lake" have huge heads, nice length, but not the girth you would expect from a bass with such a big head. Ever thought about keeping a couple of the small ones from time to time to give the big girls a little less competition? Of course it could just be the classic summer time "skinny" bass. Just wondering.

Man, you have got to stop posting the same fish you caught two months ago over and over again, LOL!!!!!!!

Just Kidding man, GREAT FISH! Keep on representing the EFF ELL!!!!

i have noticed that as well, and Mattlures had suggested the same thing in the past. Its possible that the fishery is overpopulated, but i have caught some that are proportional as well....... albeit, not nearly as many though. so i do feel that this may be the situation.

although, being postspawn.... this may play a factor as well.

but im no expert, i just love to catch them ;)

i am willing to bet that with the size of her head, she would have gone well over 10 and possibly into the 11's during the spawn.
