  5. i am going to buy a Dobyns champion 705 cb glass rod for my cranbaits and i cant decide on the moderate action and the fast......i know the fast will be a little stiffer....it is hard to decide without actually casting the 2.....i will be throwing anything from 100 bandits to spro little john deep divers.....any advice appreciated....thanx
  6. and kinda like the looks and specs. of the Powell deep cranking composite rod. Does anyone here have any knowledge or own this rod. Would like some input or suggestions on any rods that would be a good choice.......i have a $200.00 budget
  7. change hooks most that come on crankbaits are junk.....get ya some KVD triple grips ....was useing a 100 series bandit yesterday with stock hooks brand new lure....couldn't hardley keep a fish on....was frustrated and switched hooks from another crank that had KVD triple grips and finished the day with only one other lost fish.....made a believer outa me.......

  9. ijust finished installing a humminbird 898c SI on the bow of my tracker 175. I also belong to a bass club and fish tourneys also. I installed my 898cSI on a 10" ram mount and when it is straight up and down it puts the unit closer to my old eyes and makes it easier to adjust settings. I will use the unit mostly for dropshotting in highland reservoirs for smallmouth bass as the state as put out numerous fish attractors. i will also use the SI for locating structure as well....to answer your ? get the biggest screen you can afford...the upgrade for 24 volt is easy add another battery put jumper wire across the 2 for 24 volts and install your 24 volt trolling motor and hook it up lots of good knowledgeable people here that will help.....
  10. i just finished installing a humminbird a new 898cSI on the bow of my boat and couldn't be happier....lots of info and videos and tons of help to get me started on operation of unit......american made with great customer service.....gonna be a great summer
  11. early in the morning i like it quiet, and i love to watch and hear the world wake up. Later on in the day i turn on the radio and enjoy every minute. In the spring i usually have the camo and shotgun in the boat as it is turkey season, so i am listening for a gobble.....to each his own that is what makes this country great.
  12. Mike there is a ton of info on the Internet on how to operate and features of both companys units......seems like people have an issue with Lowerance customer service.....dont know about that from personal experience....i am looking at a new unit for the bow of my boat gonna go with a 800 series humminbird after my research....my pockets aren't very deep......good luck
  13. if you fish any local tourneys here in WVa. beware of the old dudes you fish against who are fishing outa old beat up bass trackers that look like they are on their last leg........they will hand you your hat......... seen it done many times

  15. shakey head jigs and some football and brush jigs... was gonna place an order with tackle wharehouse when i rembered that Mike of Siebert outdoors would have a better product at a cheaper price.....looked on his website and sure enough he was able to fill my order with quality stuff at a great price and it shipped the next day free.....thanx Mike for a great product at a better price with quality service....before you buy try to patronize the sponsers of this great website...it is very important in this tuff economy that we do this.....thanx
  16. i use it on all my reaction rods, it is the best flourocarbon line that i have used. I fish mostly rivers and the fish i catch arent that large. However with the smaller diameter line you will have to retie more often....and yes the smaller dia. line is more manageable it also lets your crankbaits run deeper...
  17. i have 2 boxes full of his jigs top quality at a great price what else can you say....Mike is one of the best people to do business with.... cusom made me jigs with the colors i needed....i e-mailed him a pic described what i needed and he delivered a quality product in time for a tourney......he has my business for life...
  18. find a used Toyota Tacoma with a 4.0 litre v-6 best small truck on the planet....i have one and it tows my 17ft Tracker with ease
  19. you need at the very least a half ton pick-up with a v-8 and tow package with a posi-trac rearend here in w.va with the hilly terrain and fishing in the late fall with snow storms we all have 4x4.....
  20. Mike i would like to see you add a line of spinnerbaits using only the finest materials. A hiddenweight spinnerbait with the finest wire, hooks, bearings skits etc. I would pay top $$$$$ for a quality made product, just a thought. It would expand your product line......regards Marlin
  21. not trying to hijack thread, i do have a question Mike. Have you thought of offering a line of hair jigs....i think they would be a big seller in your line-up....thanx
  22. all depends on the kind of water and where you live, for me i do alota skinny water river fishing where i live so my aluminum boat works well for that application. I can bang it against rocks, and anything else in the way. Don't have to worry about scratching it or busting the gel coat. and when i am done fishing for the day load it up and drive home. Don't have to wax it or wipe it down....down side....the wind blows it around easier then a glass boat....and since it ain't all sparkley chics don't dig it....
