It took me a little while to set the brakes on my STX, but once I found the proper setting it casts like a dream and it rarely backles. I will agree that it is finicky, but I really love this real.

I would save the $30 for something else. At first this reel seems great for the price, but after being used the drag will start to slip and bail may not engage properly. I returned mine two months after purchase. If you do a search on this reel you will find that several other of our members had similar problems.

Great fish, Paul. She looks pretty fat, I guess 7 pounds. I have used circle hooks for some time when deepsea fishing for snapper. I have had luck with setting the hook and just reeling in.

I have found no difference. Besides, the red paint chips off very easily.

In Alabama, our license used to expire a year from the date of purchase. Last year they changed it so that it expires at the end of August. I guess they changed it to make more money. The old way makes much more sense.

Selection comes first and customer service comes second.

I really feel sorry for the guy. He is expected to compete on such a high level it is understandable that he may seek an alternative route to find success. NOT ;D I hate cheaters. This guy is a dirtbag.
