Crank Bait Question
I know when you are cranking around structure and weeds you want it to hit it deflect off it but what about open water. What are some of the ways to make the crank bait change direction like it hit something. Just guess I would say while holding the rod off the side pump it up or down or maye sweep it to the other side and crank it a couple times. thanks in advance for the advise.

Strinke King Shad Rage Tail
I have been playing with the Strike King Shad Rage Tail and have noticed if I use a 3/0 EWG hook I can get more tail action then 4/0 to 6/0 recomended on the package. I was wondering if anyone has notice if the extra action is a good thing or if it spooks fish.

Spawn Post Spawn Blues
I live in Central New York and fish mostly Onnodaga Lake. It use to be extramly polluted and there are still alot of heavy metals in the sediment. I have notice the past two year a pattern right after the spawn, the fish have moved off the shore lines and on the outside edge of the weedlines around the lake. Not to uncommon. I shore fish theis lake because my personal accountant doesn't see the need to buy a boat. My question is what is the best bait to use the bring these fish in from the outside edge. I have thrown top water with some success. Cranks, spinners, & platics all come back with massive amounts of greenery on them so once it comes through the other side of the weedline it must look like the swamp thing to the fish. Any advise would be great. i.e I don't know anyone with a boat on the lake.

Catch and Release Excuses..
If it is private then you should make yor opinion to the land owner. If it is public then the county maybe the place to look to see if it is a C&R or not.

Learning to fish on your own
I think it's the only way to do it. Sometimes I wish I had not read all the articles I have because those voices all come running when I'm not caughting fish. I have been lucky through I do fish every day for atleast and hour. Most days I skip lunch and fish at the lake. I will say the hardest thing now is listening to my gut and not second guessing it.

Who or What is The Bait Monkey?
My cure for monkey: 1: After cashing your paycheck go directly to cabelos, BPS, Gander, Walmart, ect... 2. Ask for a forklift with a crate (they all have them don't let them kid you) 3. Go down each isle and throw one of everything in every color and size in the bin. 4. Take the bin to check out and stand in line for the hour or two it will take to ring everything in. 5. When they ask is this cash or credit (this is the most important step) reach into your paints pocket and tell the cahier you must have left your wallet at home. They will throw you out for life and you will have to make all your own tackle or buy it on-line. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

One Piece of Advice
If you don't believe that cast you just made won't catch a fish. You won't catch a fish. Tune everything out and pay attention to what you are doin and what your bait is doing. (I turn on my MP3 and close my eyes after I make a cast alot of the time and it helps settle me down)

Shore fishing in late spring
The bass will more then likely be in deepest part of the lake during the afternoon. I would guess with it being so hot and shallow right now the oxygen levels are low and bass are moving into the shallower water at night to feed. Try and find inlets into the lake if you can because the water coming will have a higher oxygen content. If you have a boat try some night fishing around these inlets but I wouldn't try night fishing in Florida from shore. Way to many thing that bite down there.

Home Made Flashabou Spinnerbait
I was up to my in-laws this weekend and went to the local bait shop and picked up some tackle and near the check were these home made spinnerbaits with flashabou for a skirt. I bought an all blue and purple one with a huge colorado blade for night fishing. I tried it out yesterday at lunch throwing on top of some bridge piling and dragging it over the edge letting ot flutter down and then slow rolling over the bottom because the weeds are so short here. My question is has anyone ever used a spinnerbait with a flashabou skirt and if so was it productive compaired to the silicone/rubber skirts. I like the profile in the water the skirt was alittle more lively them my silicone/rubber skirts.

Berkley Sensation Line
I believe sensation is a mono not fluoro. I don't have any faith in flouro after the most expense season I ever had last year.

Berkley Sensation Line
I just tested on lunch today and caught a nice 3.5 # lm with my ultra light w/ 4# test on a jig and pig. I actually felt it pick it up with a little slack in the line amazing. I am going to try the 12# on my baitcaster this weekend. A 8$ box of line isn't going to break the bank.

Backing off Drags
I will back the drag off during the winter because its so long here but once ice is out I don't think about much. I also fish everyday so the drag system never gets set-up. I also only use two setups most of the time because I can only carry so much with me. I also have been picking certain things to work on a day. One day I'll have jigs on or a spinnerbait and work those and learning diffrent things. I am still spending alot of time learning how to bass fish.

Berkley Sensation Line
I was wondering if anyone here has used or is using Berkley's Sensation Line in 12# or 14# on a baitcaster? If so, please let me know what you liked or dislike about it. I just put some 4# on my ultra light spinning reel for hard jerks and hard minnows. I like it for this application but from past experiance sometimes when you go up in # the line can behave diffrently. I will be using the baitcaster for all my spinners, cranks, and heavy jigs. I only have two rods because I shore fish most of the time because for time constraints. So my two rods wear alot of hats and I need a line that will handle most of the applications well. I the past I have use Trilene XL in 6 and 10 for this but want the sensitivity with out having to go to a flouro.
