  1. ive got a pic of the rig i came up with but cant get it to post, sorry. its basically a wood plank that i notched to fit over the gunwales and i anchored it in position with angle brackets mounted to the gunwales as well, then i took 2 heavy aluminum strips and mounted those to the top of the plank, and then bolted those to the gunwales too about 18-20 inches behind the plank. the plank sticks out about 15 inches off the port side and i put the motor there. if this doesnt make sense, pm me your email and i will send the pic i have.
  2. i am a sucker for spinner baits but have never caught any bass on them. i keep one tied on a spare rod, and do use them some, but i just cant beat the outcome i get with a t-rig worm. dont fix what aint broke
  3. i hear they are going to have a special "Darwin Award" for FL float tubers
  4. very nice. any bass is great on topwater, but a monster is awesome
  5. there's just no comparison to real fishing. right!
  6. ive heard top angler is really good but have never been able to find it to try it. i have rapala and its so-so, i want a bass fishing game, not salmon and crappie game, and having to win tournaments for other species to get to the other bass tournaments suck. its a ps1 game but big bass world championship has stood the test of time for me. its got its flaws, like bass leaving an area on the hour, but the game does make you work, so its pretty good, especially for a ps1 game

nice fish....beating your PB by 3 pounds is awesome
  8. its a good deal. im interested to see how stable it is for you with that deck that high. let us know
  9. looks like a good time was had by all. some good outings like that can make a boy love to fish the rest of his life. cherrywood rods: maybe the worlds greatest $20 rods! they are great!
  10. but to me its all preference, and what you are willing to invest in your hobby. dont get something because its big bucks, get it because you like something about it, and if it costs some cash, thats the nature of the beast
  11. ugly sticks are heavy, but i have one i use sometimes. its ok, but to me its all preference, and what you are willing to invest in your hobby. my son plays baseball and is an outstanding player, excellent fielder and has had his share of homerun hits. he has a $50 bat that he likes, other team mates have $200 bats that have never gotten the ball past the baselines. the talent lies with the user, not always the equipment. dont get something because its big bucks, get it because you like something about it, and if it costs some cash, thats the nature of the beast
  12. i have a 17ft coleman that i wrestle with. if you can put a portable bar type roof rack(pep boys $30) you can rest one end of the canoe on the back rack bar and then one person can easily slide the canoe up and onto the car without the canoe touching the car.....but.....from personal experience, and i dont know what you drive...the "universal" roof rack, naturally isnt universal, if you happen to drive a versa, like i do. the hooks to secure the bars to the roof of the car will not stay secure because of the angled sides of the roof. pool noodles or pipe insulation are good too, but you still have contact with your car. good luck
  13. glad they got caught, but sorry there are pathetic sacks of crap like this around
  14. man that is a nice fish
  15. nice! topwater is always fun
  16. good stuff! i have never hooked or seen someone hook a duck. i have personnaly hooked turtles, and a small gator, and saw someone have to de-hook a pelican(good fight). funny story!
  17. a fatty...and well worth the prickers, right? did you get the length and girth for your replica? there is a calculator on this site that will tell you the estimated weight with that info.
  18. i have no problem fishing alone, but given a choice i would take my son(new to the sport) or my dad, or some of my old fishing buddies, but most of them were here for college then finished and went home. sometimes a buddy can get you on a lake you couldnt get to otherwise. i like going either way, but good company can make up for a bad day fishing
  19. all depends on what you want.....its real easy to spend a few hours going 'alright....if 10k was limit what would i get'. decide what you want then look. grizzlys are nice, 1448 is a perfect boat that you could do tons of mods too over time, and they are about 2k with no motor no trailer new
  20. any day with 7 bass is a good day...sightfishing or not!
  21. thats a d**n fine question. i wish i knew the answer
  22. you are well on your way to having a real sweet rig. that motor sounds mighty nice too
