  1. nice solid fish
  2. i always had misc spinning rods from trout fishing in the gulf, so when the bass bug finally sunk his teeth in me, i was working at a major retailer that used to sell fishing gear, and had a very liberal return policy, so when people would buy something they couldnt use or didnt know how to use, it always got brought back....good for me i got a like new calcutta b/c reel for $20 and matched it to a nice abu garcia rod- the whole thing maybe cost me $60
  3. nice fish, sounds like a good day
  4. the cheap inflatable is one way to go, but look on craigslist for a 8 foot bass hunter or something. it shouldnt set you back much $$$ but be a better boat in the long run
  5. well.....its affected what i will potentially buy, motorwise. i have gone from maybe a 40 hp to 'well i could use a 25 just fine', to 'yeah a 9.9 will do me right'. i still laugh thinking about on roland martins show where he was promoting a 250hp optimax i think....he said 'its great and fuel efficient...gets about 4mpg'.
  6. hard to believe its the same boat. hows the motor push it?
  7. yeah he was pumped. he really did a great job, and considering we were out for about 4 hours, he did great. no bass for him, but he hooked into a massive gar and got it up to the boat! shocked me he was able to get it in. he did have other bites, but takes time to get your hook set down. i have already told him i would get a replica for him if he catches a 10lber, and he is set on it. he cant wait to go again!
  8. anyone try it? i have it on one of my spinner rods and i gotta say it is the limpest braid i have ever used or seen BUT i swear this stuff ties itself in knots easily, almost like its too limp. i am vary familiar with braided lines, but this is just crazy stuff. any other similar problems or is it just me?
  9. nice fish
  10. thanks guys.....i wouldnt have estimated her to be over 9 lbs, but i weighed her twice to be sure and tested the scale with 5 and 10 lbs weights, so i can assume its accurate. the weather was hot as crap and really windy, and my sunglasses broke after being on the water about 10 minutes, so i really didnt think it was gonna be a outstanding fishing day. i just wish this wouldve been my sons fish instead of mine, but he'll be outfishing me soon enough.
  11. nice fish...how long was it? it looks really long in the photo
  12. digital scale said 9lbs 13oz. horrible pic, i know, but i have more coming from my dad that i will post. this is from my cell phone, and i couldnt get the whole fish in the pic and hold the phone out far enough. also the sun behind me doesnt help. i had no way of taking her dimensions but she must liked to eat! hopefully i will see her again sometime
  13. sorry to hear this. it does seem that the good ones get the shaft a lot of the time. skin cancer is no joke, i am all too familiar with it personnally but got lucky and it was 'basal cell carcinoma' and was treated over a 2 month period with a chemical that ate the cancer cells away slowly and havent had a problem since. being a mix of swede and french cajun, i love the outdoors but just dont have the skin for it. spf 60 at least guys. wear that sunscreen, yall, your families need you around.
  14. a 5 isnt going to get you screaming across the lake, but it should be ok. if it runs, its a steal. i really like the engines with the internal fuel tank. boat looks awesome
  15. he's willing to let you sell it and kep the cash to buy a boat, but wont let you keep that boat?
  16. btcprince replied to Josh.'s topic in Fishing Reports
caught this maybe 9 years ago. dont know for sure how much it weighed. anyways, its big for the river here in tampa, and there are more of 'em out there
  17. just say 7lbs, its probably safe. that is a perfectly colored bass btw
  18. also the bass hounds and prowlers etc have a little more weight capacity than some of the plastic jon type boats that i have seen.
  19. chrysler is an expert at concepts that look good on paper, but in actuality, they blow. if they want to help, make some decent autos that arent gas hogs, hell, i would even settle for just decent autos
  20. the more i look at your boat the more i like it. that is a great layout. youve got me looking on my local craigslist now for something similar. by the time you dump money into that motor and get it running, then sell it for a little profit, and then have to turn around and buy another boat and fix it up, i think you will have spent a bunch of money and have less of a boat
  21. i can only guess that if you get a jon boat, you are going to put in a deck, add seats and so on. that boat there has everything you need for a nice bass getter, without all the labor involved. dude, keep THAT boat. if you are not used to handling a boat, go out with your dad a few times, you'll get the hang of it pretty quick.
  22. Impacts to local fish populations through predation or displacement and competition for food; disruption of native aquatic systems Transmission of parasites or diseases, including those affecting humans Potential impacts on local economies dependent on fishing or related resources ^ this is all off the site you posted a link to
  23. nice...thats a LW in the middle bench? i like how you have the front deck, but still have a lot of floor space and your box organizer is sweet
  24. ahhh bowfins, mudfish, grindles, etc....nasty animals and they BLEED so much when hooked. they fight hard. i undestand they are native here, but snakeheads are from SE asia or somewhere that people have let go to breed for food, but have just destroyed the native fish here. save a basses life, kill a snakehead
