  1. I like the Std. KVD model from Strike King in 5/16 oz. Nice tweener size. Couple a bluegill color with a Big Bite Tilapia double tail grub or blue craw Menace and hang on.

Sounds a little like rubbing it in my friend. Definitely on my bucket list.

Really looking for something to weigh all those pesky 30" plus pike I've been catching along with Bass and the Rapala, though excellent for Bass, didn't hold Pike very well. One shake and they were off. Don't want to start a war but I believe all scales must be certified by the IGFA if you want to have it used for a world record, no matter the brand. Don't think IGFA recommends one over the other but could be wrong. This also does not means Bogas are not the best. They must cost that much for a reason. Just out of my budget and I prefer digital anyway. https://www.igfa.org/Fish/SCALES-AND-CERTIFICATION-.aspx
  5. I've got a list and pics of all my stuff like ghoti for insurance. Had quite a bit of stuff ripped off some years ago and learned the hard way. I do my own maintenance. When the seasons over I take the reels to work and do one during my lunch hour when I have nothing else to do.
  6. I usually take a nap and then have dinner. Then I head back out.

My mistake on the brand. It is a Quarrow but looks just like F&S.

My trusty Rapala digital scale is starting to show signs of age. Although it is not a grip, it was an extremely accurate scale. Looking for suggestions for a grip with a scale. Don't mention Boga grip. Can't afford and only read to 1/4 lb. My son just bought a small 30 lb pistol grip model with digital scale on clearance at Dick's and we weighed a 5lb weight from his set and it was 5.01 lbs. He got the last one for $28.00. It is Field and Stream brand. Not sure how long it will last. any thought or suggestions? 30lb. is fine.
  10. Blue Craw vertically rigged on a KVD swim jig. Killer.
  11. Palomar but I run the line through the hook eye twice. Never an issue (except bent hooks)
  12. Our plans have changed. We are now going to San Diego the week of October 26th. I appreciate your help and still want to get down there one day soon. Ken
  13. Thanks Tom. I was hoping to get a few names to scope out. Love to get one like you are holding!
  14. Our plans for our 30th wedding anniversary have changed from going to New Orleans to Harrahs Southern California in Rincon. I'll be there from 10/24 to 10/29. Looked around and found a few lakes (Wohlford) Was wondering if anyone might have any info on this area or even be willing to take a fellow BR member out for a day. Expenses will be paid for of course. Problem is I will have no equipment. If you can help or recommend a guide for a day, please shoot me a P.M. I'm not a gambler. Thanks in advance.
  15. Maxxum for me. Had an Edge before that for several years until a muskrat chewed up the cables. Love the variable speed. Boat leaves a wake on 100%. Couldn't afford Fortrex. As long as it isn't Motorguide.
  16. Probably start Friday and run till end of Monday.

    1 word. Megastrike.
  18. Anybody tried these? Cant seem to find a video of them coming through the water. Been using the Stanley Top Toad with pretty good success and of course the Rage Shad, which sinks if you kill it. These look pretty good. The predecessor, the Bass Kicker was not one of my favorites. If Scum Frog would make the Bigfoot 1/2 oz or heavier, It would be awesome. The Top Toad has 2 disadvantages. It tends to land upside down alot and if you are casting into slop, it won't right itself until it hits open water and you stop it. The hook also tends to pull out of the front after a few fish. Never liked the screw-in type of hook but all the double toad hooks come this way. Going to swap out the spring on the Stanley hooks with Owner CPS springs so at least I can put a new body on straight and secure. 3 spare bodies are pretty inexpensive. Owners toad hooks are out of stock at T.W until November but look like an upgrade over the Stanley. I do like the weighted Stanly hooks but will switch to the CPS spring on them. Really want to try these but would appreciate any info on how they compare in action and commotion to the Top Toads (which cast a mile) and even the Rage Shad, which I believe is unrivaled in sparse cover but the tail tends to rip easily. If these were made of Elaztech, they would be all I would throw.
  19. Will be heading to the Big Easy in October for our 30th anniversary. Made a deal with the boss. She can hit the casinos one day if I can find a way to get out bass fishing. Reds would be O.K. Googled and can't find a whole lot of info on bass but quite a bit on reds. There is a park that is supposed to have some nice fish in it but I will not be bringing any tackle. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly apprecited. Would be week of the 12th. Any members willing to spend a day with a fellow member? Willing to more than split expenses and can reciprocate in Northern Il. Thanks in advance.
  20. My son got one for a steal using a groupon. High speed. He uses it on his froggin' setup. He loves it and has had zero issues. He throws frogs about 75% of the time. I've casted it several times and it seems pretty good to me. Probably can't buy a Zebco 33 for $20.00.
  21. Flat A's have a pointed lip and are flat and have TX3 hooks. Still are sold. Still use them. This looks fatter and has a rounded lip. Can't be too old. Looks like it has Triple Grip Hooks. I'm going with Bandit as it has the telltale little ridge sticking out near the bottom. These are still sold also.
