  1. I change hooks quite a bit and have tried a few different types & styles. The standard Texas Tackle's SSplit Ring Pliers are a Quality and Effect tool. They cost a little more but they are worth it. Buying smaller sized skeins of Mono leader material will cost you less as you might not need 2500 yds for Huddleston rigs. Double check your crimp job ensuring it is good and does not damage the line. btw - Nice Hat Shane A-Jay http://www.basspro.com/Ande-Monofilament-Leader-Skeins/product/2355/ http://www.basspro.com/Berkley-Big-Game-Monofilament-Leader/product/71882/
  3. Roger that is Impressive for sure. And although I know he would not say it here - I think Dwight's PB Walleye is in the 12 pound class. The picture looks like an Alligator with no legs ! A-Jay

Yup ~ But the legs were ripped off my Super Frog quite a while back , , , , And I have a Jitterbug that was handed down from my Dad that when charged with a flashlight Glows in the Dark - what a Blast to fish . . . . . A-Jay
  5. Nicely put Roger. I tend to agree with your "six casts to get one - right" assessment. And in the spirit of the title of this thread, I'd add on that sometimes one may need to change the cast angles to find that one right cast. Could be a slight change, could be a 180. And I think we've all done the one. You're doing well on a spot and then the action slows or stops. A change in boat position to present a different angle, turns then right back on again. Often times when an angler positions the boat a cast or so off the bank to present a bait to the shallower shoreline area, the fish are under the boat. Doesn't matter much what angle is used if the fish never see your bait. A-Jay

  10. I fish my home water from a canoe / trolling motor rig that clearly limits my "Milk Run" abilities. And over the past several years, I've become a proponent of the "Timing" method of bass fishing and do use it as the single most influential factor determining where & when I fish a particular lake and or spot. Using much of what Bill Murphy preached has paid off for me. I will admit to utilizing a much more traditional lure arsenal. Several of my favorite and most productive spots will find me anchored well before what I think will be "The Time". I prefer to be positioned a good long cast from "the spot" in very shallow water fishing to the deep. And don't forget about Angles. The OP discussed this in a previous post here http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/148613-angles/?p=1664658 Sometimes one can get lucky and find the fish striking angle right off. Other times it takes a concerted effort trying various angles on a spot at different times until you find the Magic One. I have Many "Spots" that despite never taking a fish off them, I believe that at some point they hold a big fish. So I fish them at different times, during various conditions hoping to prove myself right. Putting the work in and figuring it out is incredibly satisfying. A-Jay

  13. Merry Christmas to you and that Big Knot-headed Peacock bass~ A-Jay
  14. Not having a clicking drag and tension knobs seems silly really. Having it provides the confidence that repeatability provides. The guess work required without it is just that. A-Jay
  15. Yes - It is Definitely worth it. It's very satisfying and a ton of fun. That being said like other areas of fishing you'll get out of it exactly what you put into it. You can take it a long way if you chose to. I also believe that it has helped round me out as an angler & improved other areas of my bass fishing too. And if you've ever taken a healthy smallmouth on dry fly with a 5 wt, you'd know exactly what I'm talking about. Go For it. A-Jay
  16. Have not fish one. I have read about it & watched the videos. Mr Sebile reports that he has address two on my own personal pet peeves regarding the majority of hollow body frogs currently on the market. Water intrusion & hook up ratio. This new Pivot frog is supposedly designed to allow Much Less water into the belly of the bait; considerably reducing the way too frequent "frog Squeeze" I'm doing now. And more importantly - hook up ratio is supposed to be improved with the use of the single pivoting / hinged over-size EWG hook. Compared to what out there now - that hook looks big (like a Gaff). We'll see if it's a benefit or something else. I'm going to try one. A-Jay

  21. It's a 4 step process. 1. Dump your tackle box. 2. Clean your tackle box 3. Clean your baits 4. Refill your tackle box. A-Jay

  24. Yup - Throwing in the Wind & Rain last night didn't help Payton "Noodle Arm" Manning much. A couple of those throws were pretty sad. Made him look Mortal. A-Jay
