  4. I fish cranks baits both ways - Sometimes braid and leader with a glass rod and other times Mono line and a graphite stick. Both approaches have an equal level of desirable and undesirable qualities. For me, the most important factor determining if a treble hooks holds or not, is less about the rod/reel & line and more about the hook itself. Some treble hooks seem to work a whole lot better than others. A-Jay
  5. I own several and I'm a Fan. They handle the domestic and international work load flawlessly. A-Jay

  9. I am a faithful U-40 cork sealer disciple. Not on reel handle knobs but every rod handle I own. Make a difference in cork durability and longevity. See no reason why it would not work for your application. A-Jay

  14. For me, hook choice is a matter of form & function: which hook fits the bait best and will at the same time ensure optimum hook penetration and holding power. That needs to happen without hindering the baits action / strike attracting ability. I prefer EWG hooks over round bend (and just about anything else I've tried) for most every application including flipping; a good majority of anglers prefer a straight shank hook for that. The hook you choose may vary based on personal preference and confidence. The wire size of the hook plays a role in the decision as well. Good Luck A-Jay

  17. Hello and Welcome to BR ~ Counting Down is a technique where when using a bait the sinks at rest, an angler will count the seconds as the bait descends. Once it reaches a desired depth, the angler retrieves the bait hoping to illicit a strike. The use of a fish fisher is obviously helpful here and knowing the fall or sink rate of your bait is important too. Suspended bass are often fairly hard to catch but in some circumstances this technique is very effective. Good Luck A-Jay

  23. TSA has updated the Notice of Baggage Inspection tag text to closer match reality. A-Jay Transportation Security Administration NOTICE OF BAGGAGE INSPECTION In an effort to make your travel even more of a PIA, the Transportation Security Administration will “inspect” (and we use this term loosely) all checked baggage. As part of this process, some bags are opened and physically “inspected”. Your bag was among those selected for physical “inspection” ( again, our definition of this term may be slightly different from that of those who use English as their primary language). During the “inspection”, your bag and its contents have been searched for prohibited items. We didn’t find any nor were we actually looking, but we did have fun. During this process, Magilla Gorilla drop kicked your bag cross most of the facility after which the contents of your bag were set on fire and then used to wipe up Magilla’s hairy butt. At the completion of the “inspection”, the contents (or what was left of them) were returned to your bag; but not before Magilla’s little baby sister left you a little present. If the TSA screener was unable to open your bag for inspection because it was locked, the screener may have been forced to break the locks on your bag. TSA will say publically that we sincerely regret having to do this, however we know that TSA is somehow not liable for damage to your locks resulting from this necessary security precaution, so you’ll simply have to get over it. For packing tips and suggestions on how to secure your baggage during your next trip, please visit: ww.tsa.gov or just take an alternate mode of transportation. Btw – don’t forget to pack a few bananas for Magilla. He works up quite an appetite trashing your belongings. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. If you have questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact the TSA Contact Center.

  25. After doing a little traveling last month both domestically & internationally, I'd like to go on record here to say that the TSA humans, specifically the checked luggage "inspection" folks, are most definitely not my favorite persons. Seems they got their terms a little mixed up and replaced inspection with destruction. Really frustrating. A-Jay
