  1. I prefer KVD L & L when I feel the need. And here's a discussion held here previously on the subject. A-Jay http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/33493-how-to-use-reel-magic/?p=337254
  2. Nice one ~ Congrats. A-Jay

I use the jig pictured below for virtually all of my jig needs; casting, flipping and in some deeper applications, even swimming. For me, the need for several different "Types", that include head shapes, designs and weights of jigs is unnecessary. A-Jay
  4. Hello and Welcome to BR ~ A-Jay
  5. Nope ~ That was a new one on me. The word not the act . . . . A-Jay
  6. Called Rhopalic ~ it describes text in which each word contains one more letter or syllable than the one preceding it. A-Jay
  7. The seductive flutter on the sink is what sets the SK Red Eye Shad apart from most lipless baits. I have not seen one that "Sinks like a rock". Sounds more like a Rat-L-Trap than a Red Eye. A-Jay
  8. I'd say a 20lb braid is a good choice there. It's important to remember that it's a very good idea to be ready & able to land the fish you're hoping to hook and catch, not just the smaller fish that you land while you're waiting for her. A-Jay
  9. I guess the reality is that I'm so close to the water in the Old Town, It's usually more work to swing one than it is to simply reach down and either lip, net or even Boga Grip the silly little bass-tage. A-Jay
  10. Sometimes I net dinks - especially on some of the slower trips. It's good practice. A-Jay
  11. All the bass pictured in the links below were caught on jerk baits with the use of a snap. For me it's not a matter of my inability or desire to retie. It's all about fishing effectively. Rather than fumbling in the 4 foot waves, trying to get a 5 inch jerk bait with three trebles through the loop of a Palomar knot, a snap is a no-brainer. And for the record, I am in fairly good health. 12. If I'm slow rolling the bait deep, (my favorite way to fish them during the day btw) then a slender action-less trailer is in play; no trailer hook. If I'm target casting in & around cover (wood or weeds) then I usually do not use a trailer or trailer hook. If I'm burning the bait at warp speed in fairly open water, then it's definitely a trailer hook but no trailer. Now the night time bait has a swim bait trailer with no trailer hook needed there. 13. I'm going to claim that the following is at least part of the story ~ Many of the waters I fish are small to mid-sized lake that do have summer seasonal residents living on the lake. The constant wave after wave of recreational water sports during daylight hours probably disturbs the food chain a bit on these very clear lakes. With the bait all wacked out, the bass seek cover somewhere - most suspend mid lake right over the thermocline. All of this usually ends up being a non-issue come Tues, Wed & Thursday night. A-Jay

  16. I'll admit to having a very similar sentiment when it comes to big smallies. It is rather unfortunate that your employer has denied your request for the time off that you asked for. However, I'm sure you'll be very happy to know that Dwight & I will be out there from sunrise to sun set and beyond; day after day, just putting a Man Sized Hurting on those Bronze Beasts in your absences. OK now try to stay focused on the job . . . . . . . . A-Jay
  17. You'll have to watch to the end see just how surprisingly accurate this is. A-Jay http://www.okcfox.com/story/25244962/job-applicants-for-worlds-toughest-job-get-a-big-shock#.U05jUoiKgng.facebook
  18. Will A Bass Stop Feeding Altogether ? Often times it certainly seems like they do, at least around these parts; and especially during daylight hours from about mid July to mid August. But night time is a completely different story. A-Jay
  19. I use snaps on jerk baits and some crank baits. Check out the KVD Mustad Duo-Lock Snap, Black, 40lb is a good size. Quality snap at a reasonable price. A-Jay
  20. Nice Bass & a Pretty Crappie ~ He said Crappie . . . . . A-Jay
  21. Will be a Best Seller in no time ~ Here's a cover photo for your consideration. A-Jay

  23. Gambler makes a 7" Floating worm but the colors are little too "Festive" for my taste. You can get them at TW - where 2 day shipping is always just $5. A-Jay
  24. So you're just sipping the Kool-Aid . . . . . . A-Jay
