  2. Skunk Buster Bait ~ That's Excellent - now my new favorite term. Flukes are a staple south of the border for Big Bass ~ and the local population has a liking for them as well. A-Jay
  3. OOPS ~ ! A-Jay
  4. x2 ~ Just like the old Bassmaster series, where all the fish where photographed dead and nailed to a board, the days of the "Boat Flip" on to the deck of the boat are numbered. At least on broadcasted tournaments. Yanking the bass out, it's flopping on the deck, the angler throws down his tackle as he dances over the fish; the whole "act" reeks of disrespect for the resource. I'm hoping that sooner rather than later, someone with some dignity & self respect who is in the position to change this, will do so. A-Jay
  5. Forget the monkey ~ Feed the Gorilla ! Get a Shimano Calcutta 200D ~ Very Sweet. A-Jay
  6. I would really appreciate it if you guys would just stop posting anything about the Scrounga - They don't work at all and there is simply no reason to throw or even own any. A-Jay
  7. Another example of just how effective our system of voting really is . . . . Wow. A-Jay
  8. You're not in any majority I'm a part of - You want to wait - go right a head. The rest of us would at least like the option. No closed season on Bass is long over due. A-Jay
  9. We are all keeping our fingers crossed Big Time on this one. Also hoping the ice melts soon - thanks a lot ~ Wise Guy A-Jay

  11. I do not fish competitively, so the reality is, I'm always fishing for just one bite. The Right one. A-Jay
  12. Nice Drum Steve ~ And still rocking the Rage Hat . . . . A-Jay
  13. Thank Kent - Solid advice. As a capable & confident knot guy myself, I have no problem tying or rigging gear. I no longer choose to use that line so I also have no more problems with my line parting unexpectedly and for no apparent reason. Good Luck with your fluorocarbon adventure. A-Jay

  15. Eventually anglers are going to have to face the reality that Fluorocarbon line is just a PIA. The problems associated with it seriously out weight any benefits realized. The shear number of threads where post after post document all the same problems by so many anglers tell the story. Manageability and weak knot strength are routinely detailed as challenging characteristic of the line. Believing that Monofilament line is inferior to fluorocarbon is a matter of opinion; but it's not mine. Have there been many threads recounting where anglers are having problems with mono line leaders parting at the knot ? A quick search will answer that. The low numbers in the search results would indicate that it's not a problem. To the anglers who use fluorocarbon leaders successfully, congratulations, you've managed to slay the dragon. We rarely hear from the mono leader uses. except to post up pictures of nice bass. A-Jay

  17. Nothing like pulling on a 40 on a hot summers day. Shouldn't that be in a brown bag ? A-Jay
  18. On behalf of all of us poor working stiffs, thank you for sharing you thoughts Jon. As one of the newest members here, in 10 posts you've managed to establish your reputation as Mr. Economic Wisdom. Good Job. A-Jay
  19. That's your story and I'm sure you're sticking you it. Did you know you can save 15% on car insurance with Geico ? A-Jay
  20. I say your about 185 & the bass is 9.4. A-Jay
  21. Jon you appear quite passionate about new boat prices. I agree the prices seem disproportionally high when compared to a new automobile. However, history has proven that once a market price is set and especially after it has been established for a while, only in very rare instances has the price of anything ever come down. Sure, it may fluctuate a bit but never reaches a low of several years past. There would have to be some type of major event, like gas prices going to $10 a gallon, before boat prices would change much. If anything they will continue to rise. A-Jay
  22. My EWG of choice is the Owner Extra Wide Gap Plus hook. All the design mumbo jumbo about hook eye vs point location, hook flexing and whatever else is out there, has never been an issue with these hooks. If you are having trouble with your hooks use these and your troubles will be over. This thing is like a small Gaff. A-Jay

  24. My Favorite Lure has change several times over the years. As I learned a new technique, I can and do routinely fall in love with it; especially if it catches. It's gone from a Daredevil spoon to a Rebel minnow. Next it was a Fred Arbogast Mud Bug and then a Heddon Hellbender. Then the Hula Popper & the Jitterbug was the deal. Once plastic started to come around I was a Creme and Jelly worm. abuser. Next I think it was spinnerbaits - that one lasted a while. Now, I'd say my favorite lure to get a strike on is a Duo Realis Pencil, it's a walking bait. Rarely are they the biggest bass (except in Mexico) but the strike is so much fun. The thump you get on a jig strike is tough to beat as the quality of the bass is usually better. Of course all of this is sponsored by your friendly neighborhood Bait Monkey. A-Jay
