Jigs for smallmouth????
My presentation of jigs to smb is about 80% swim jigs from 1/4 - 1/2 oz and 20% football from 1/4 - 3/4 oz. Smallies caught flipping / pitching are usually around docks, lay downs, and deeper weed/grass lines and represent a small percentage. A-Jay

Silent red eye shad
They are sold exclusively through BPS. Not sure how long this contract exists, but it was enough to get me to place a BPS order Me too ~ already received 3 but the remaining baits (several) are back ordered 30 days . . . . A-Jay

How much more sensitive is tungsten to lead
x2 I switched last year and I would definitely agree there is a noticeable difference when making contact with Anything. The first time out, I set a new record low on hook up to strike ratio. Finally realized I was feeling lily pad stems on the bottom and not fish. I will not go back to lead and am anxiously waiting someone to make flipping and casting jig heads from tungsten as well. What is your favorite Led Zeppelin song?
Mine is "No Quarter" ~ Coincidentally, the lyrics are fairly appropriate considering the current weather across the country. 8-) A-Jay "No Quarter" Close the door, put out the light. You know they won't be home tonight. The snow falls hard and don't you know? The winds of Thor are blowing cold. They're wearing steel that's bright and true They carry news that must get through. They choose the path where no-one goes. They hold no quarter. Walking side by side with death, The devil mocks their every step The snow drives back the foot that's slow, The dogs of doom are howling more They carry news that must get through, To build a dream for me and you They choose the path where no-one goes. They hold no quarter. They ask no quarter. The pain, the pain without quarter. They ask no quarter. The dogs of doom are howling more!

What techniques do you want to improve on and why?
There are two areas in particular for me ~ 1. Boat positioning -- I think I have a tendency to get up on top of fish too often. When I feel like I'm set up right my confidence goes up. 2. Night fishing -- There is a lot that goes with this one. Just have to get out there more nights and make it happen. A-Jay

Would you like to look like this ???
The man is a beast, no doubt about it. His appearance like anything, is a matter of taste. Everyone knows this is a more than a life style. It is his life, for now anyway. I can respect anyone that displays the drive, desire, commitment and dedication required to take any of life's adventures to this level. But the REAL challenge is all the FOOD required to build and maintain All That Muscle Mass. To answer your questions Chris, yes. A-Jay

A bit of historical knowledge

A bit of historical knowledge
It was necessary to keep a good supply of cannon balls near the cannon on old war ships. But how to prevent them from rolling about the deck was the problem. The storage method devised was to stack them as a square based pyramid, with one ball on top, resting on four, resting on nine, which rested on sixteen. Thus, a supply of 30 cannon balls could be stacked in a small area right next to the cannon. There was only one problem -- how to prevent the bottom layer from sliding/rolling from under the others. The solution was a metal plate with 16 round indentations, called, for reasons unknown, a Monkey. But if this plate were made of iron, the iron balls would quickly rust to it. The solution to the rusting problem was to make them of brass - hence, Brass Monkeys. Few landlubbers realize that brass contracts much more and much faster than iron when chilled. Consequently, when the temperature dropped too far, the brass indentations would shrink so much that the iron cannon balls would come right off the monkey. Thus, it was quite literally, cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey. And all this time, people thought that was just a vulgar expression ~ A-Jay

anything you do that goes against "the rules of fishing"?
Just about every body of water I fish is loaded with copious healthy Pike. Regardless of the target species (lmb/smb) just about every rig includes Surflon Micro Supreme at the business end. That includes most every soft plastic rig except drop shot, and every moving bait except occasionally deep cranking. And it doesn't seen to matter to the bass at all. They have consistently inhaled jigs, spinnerbaits, frog, and many other baits in very clear water all rigged with this knot-able wire. So there you have it. That's my story and I'm stick'in to it. http://www.americanfishingwire.com/smsupreme.asp A-Jay

Small craft guys - kayak, canoe, etc.
All watercraft on Michigan waters, including privately-owned lakes and waterways, must be registered except: ~watercraft 16 ft. or less, propelled by oars or paddles, and not used for rental or commercial purposes, ~non-motorized canoes and kayaks not used for rental or commercial purposes, rafts, surfboards, sailboards, and swim floats, regardless of length, ~watercraft registered in another state and used only temporarily in Michigan. For most watercraft the registration fee is based on length. All registrations expire on March 31 in the third year of issuance. So, my Old Town canoe w/trolling motor is registered as per state law. (and due for renewal this spring) A-Jay

Jerry McKinnis Announces Changes to the Elites
I like most of the changes. I do not like the "vote for your favorite angler" portion of the post season set up. Despite all the major sports using voting for their All Star ballots, it still sounds a little lame. :-/ A-Jay

Some Humor
OK - Joke time . . . . . . . A husband and wife were spending a quiet evening at home watching some television. The woman was splitting her attention between the TV and some knitting. The man had the remote and was diligently switching between fishing shows and porn. This went on for most of the evening and the Mrs. was starting to get a bit frustrated with the too frequent changing from program to program. When she finally she couldn't take it any longer, she just blurted out "for crying out loud, will you Please just leave it on the Porn, you already know how to fish" ! A-Jay
