  6. IMO, continue taking care of yourself. Clearly not a guarantee of anything, but making Staying lean, Fit & Balanced a way of life now and moving forward, is pretty much all we can do. Genetics can help but rarely can overcome a detrimental lifestyle. A-Jay

  12. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ What others do or don't do has Zero bearing on whether you enjoy it or not. My advice is to purchase you & your son identical beginner rigs and discover the sport together. Through trial & error, success & failure, you'll learn what makes bass fishing such a magical pastime. Best part is you'll have a fishing buddy for life. Good Luck. A-Jay
  13. Has to be released. A-Jay
  14. I retired a while ago from what could be considered a fairly physically demanding job. At 62 I have my fair share of aches & pain and my overall capacity & daily endurance is no where near what it used to be. These things definitely effect my fishing, especially the long drives home. But I do a few things that I believe have helped quite a bit: Getting regular physically demanding exercise several days a week, helps my balance, mobility & confidence. Keeping my body lean - takes some of the load off my joints and gives gravity less to work with. And finally, I focus on, and am grateful for, the things I can still do, instead of what I can not. Going fishing tomorrow and I'm pretty excited. A-Jay
  15. Perfect and my new favorite ~ A-Jay
  16. Nice ~ Did you have to use a verry wittle faway knife ? ? A-Jay
  17. You are correct Sir. Walleye opens up this Saturday and as for the trout rules & reg in Mi, without degree in marine biology, they are far to complicated for this guy to even bother with. #PIA Although I have the all inclusive license, I don't target them or keep them. Bums folks out when they see me let them go. #freewillie Btw It’s snowing here right now, Who else is day time drinking ? A-Jay
  18. Sounds like you're on the right track ~ I must also say getting a second professional opinion is a solid plan. Food for thought ~ on Jan 2, 1988 while using bad form & too much weight doing barbell squats, I ruptured 3 discs in my lower back. It was REALLY bad, I went right to the floor on my face. Couldn't walk. I was scene by several (military) DR's most of which 'recommended' surgery. I wasn't into that. So I rehabbed it my self - went really slow . Didn't need to lose weight but had to begin moving a little at a time and as tolerated. Took 18 months to build myself back up to where I would even think about weight training again. But I did get back into it. Just trained a lot Smarter. CORE WORK IS KEY ! So 35 years later, I've kept at it and have no plans to stop. If & when I do, I'd FULLY expect my back to become a problem again. Going from not being able to walk, to stroking out 500 lbs (at 62 years old) is very empowering. https://youtu.be/Qrys4czoGy8?t=149 And it also shows that while not always the case, a body can often heal itself if we just give it a chance. Good Luck. A-Jay
  19. We it's finally official ~ Every Lake Menderchuck south of the bridge is open water. At least the ones I'd fish anyway. Unfortunately the weather's going into the dumper for the next day or two. but after that - there could be carnage . . . .

  22. I'm calling the activity level 'low' during my most recent two trips. Can't speak for the whole lake as I didn't fish it all. But I certainly tried ! #castmyarmsoff A-Jay
  23. Congrats and Nicely done as usual ~ question, what lb. test is that trace of FC you have in front of the hair ? I'm fishing 6 lb tatsu and am struggling to get bites. Help a brother out . . . A-Jay
