  1. Latest one I can remember since 2007 is 03 May 2018 While we got enough snow this morning to cover the ground mostly, I think we're going to stay ahead of that one in 2022. I certainly hope so anyway. A-Jay
  2. Still waiting for open water ~ (not so patiently I might add) And this is Day 2 of snow flurries all day. High temps today and into next week aren't too bad. Haven't been over to the lake in a couple of days, might take a peak later on. A-Jay
  3. There are a number of factors that can & do effect how much and how long it takes. Can and usually does vary with each individual. The chart is a 'for reference' deal which displays an average perhaps. IME, loss of dexterity starts in the extremities and works it's way in. So hands & feet get cold first and so on. In extreme survival circumstances a body will attempt to preserve life sustaining processes. Eventually at the cost of hand & limb dexterity and grip strength. This becomes a concern if a victim is 'trying to swim to safety', tread water or is 'hanging on' to something to stay afloat. Without a proper fitting and quality life jacket on, it can go down hill pretty quickly after that. Stay Safe A-Jay
  4. I still use 3/8 and 1/2 "sizes" the most with a few lighter/heavier as needed. While I do use a few with a 5/0 hook, the sweet spot for me is a smaller hook. Something close to a 4/0 is usually my go to. I fish a few baits that are fairly old pours made by folks who have since retired. Current versions are 6th Sense Divine Hybrid Jig Strike King Hack Attack Fluorocarbon Flipping Jig Evergreen Grass Ripper Swim Jigs A-Jay
  5. My presentations size & profile vs whatever the prominent bait might be, drives jig/trailer choices. Skirt trimming may or may not be needed unless it's jacking up the trailer action. Btw, I am usually targeting smallies so a somewhat compact jig seems to increase hook up and landing percentage. A-Jay
  6. This is the type of stuff that is like GOLD. Certain there was some trial & error in getting that 'formula' just right. Thank You and Nicely Done @WRB A-Jay
  7. Yup ~ A-Jay
  8. Super Sorry to hear you've got 'The Covid' as my MIL calls it. Hope you can get right very soon. As for your retirement - Congratulations Might just be one of the more interesting times in our lives. From the transition, to the settling into it, to the reality of it; it can be as much of a challenge as a welcome change. Best part might be, you are now on @Tennessee Boy Time. A-Jay
  9. Both Screw lock keepers. A-Jay
  10. Multiple treble hook baits can offer all kinds of removal 'challenges'. One treble can be in clothing with the other 1 or 2 are in a hand. Might be in a hand & still attached to a flopping fish - bad deal. Managing any of that, alone and usually with one hand, can be a little tricky. So cutting a hook or two can be needed before any hook(s) extraction from a particular body part, can even begin. Stay Safe. A-Jay
  11. For me, Jig Trailer size & length needs to work in unison with skirt length. So to start, if I'm using an 'action' type trailer (SK Rage Craw & Menace both 4" pictured) I don't want the skirt to interfere or otherwise catch on the trailer 'legs', which almost always reduces the trailers ability to move freely. With that in mind, I trim most of my jig skirts to a length that extents a 1/2 inch or so past the jig hook bend. The trailers are attached ensuring the 'legs' are sufficiently longer than the skirt. Removing the first 1/2 to 3/4 inch of a trailer or first section of the craw, is usually perfect. A-Jay
  12. It's Over and it was pretty exciting right to the end. Congrats to Ott Defoe for taking the Win (and I do me taking) and to Alton Jones Jr for another Big Bass Win ~ #bigbenjamin's A-Jay
  13. Less than 30 minutes to go ~ J Lucas with a one scoreable bass lead. Pucker factor is high across the board ! Update : Ott DeFoe just put 2 for 7 plus in the boat for the lead A-Jay
  14. A J Jr. with a 6-4 off a bed. He said he 'beaned in the head' and she bit. Who doesn't love a good beaning ? A-Jay
  15. Pretty Much ~ Been a few Big 2's that are getting weighed 3 times too. Field is tight enough that anyone can win this deal in the last period. A-Jay
  16. A year ago yesterday ~ #morethanready A-Jay
  17. I think so ~ He's looking for a couple of bedding fish he found but hadn't targeted yet. A-Jay

I have not ordered but have checked out that site a few times as it's been mentioned here more than once (don't remember by who though) They look pretty sweet but I'm not sure they'll work for me. I don't fish rivers . . . . j/k #menderchuckriver A-Jay
  20. Championship Day is under way. A little on the slow side so far in period 1. I do like the 3 lb. minimum quite a bit. A-Jay
  21. Tomorrow will be a week PAST my predicted date. So I'm is some type of negative time warp with everything in suspended animation . . . A-Jay
  22. For folks with big dogs ~ That's Just The Best ! A-Jay
  23. Alton Jones Jr betters his own Big Bass of the day with and 8-3 #chungus Is that the $50k fish ? Could be. . . . . Nice A-Jay

Not yet but hope to be soon. And when I do, a hair jigs is THE MOST 'do nothing' presentation I do. Long cast, reel slow. Virtually no other angler in put. Most anything else done reduces bites for me. I will change speeds during a retrieve from slow to slower for a few feet. Often times can cause a follower to sort of run up on the bait without knowing it's coming and get a bite. Just don't stop it, keep it moving. I like the bottom third of the water column, but not necessarily on the bottom. Sort of like a ned rig - A-Jay
  25. 65 degrees here yesterday ~ Lakes still froze. Thunder Storms last night and cold / rain next several days. Feels worse than Deep winter right now waiting for this one . . . . A-Jay
