  1. Perhaps consider one of these. I would not go out on big water without one. https://www.acrartex.com/products/resqlink-view/ These units save lives. A-Jay
  2. Dangerously cold wind chills will return to northern Michigan this weekend after a cold front swings through the area. Wind chills of 20 to 30 below zero are expected across interior areas of northern lower both tonight and Saturday night. Tis the season A-Jay
  3. Fish Catch Friday ~ Going back a few years, this was the first 5 lb Brown Bass of 2018. I was pretty excited apparently. #longwinter 7 weeks - 5 days & a wake up. A-Jay
  4. Master ? Hardly Not certain I know how to tell. However if judgement is made at least in part by using revolving spool gear to catch bass. Then I'd say I might be close to average. Finally, I fish nothing that requires skipping. Sure looks cool though. A-Jay
  5. That was pretty intense at the end. Congrats to Mr Roy. He earned that one and it's his first. Off to Lake Fork . . . . A-Jay
  6. Sorry for your loss . . . As long as the dearly departed was a basshead, I think you're good. A-Jay

I usually fish 1/2 oz & less on Medium spinning gear - 10-15 lb braid mainline and a 8-10lb Fluorocarbon leader (AbrazX). Heavier than 1/2 oz, I'll either pump up my spinning gear (rod & line) or go to casting gear that will present, hook & land a spirited Smallie. 3/4 oz heads are reserved for deep (more than 20-25 ft) and or big wind & waves. This size can & does get "thrown" on the jump by bass more than the lighter heads - so that's something to be aware of. A-Jay
  8. BB is loaded with so much visible cover, everything 'looks good'. Pretty obvious at this point, that's not the case. I do not have a ton of experience fishing that type of deal. However I think I remember @Catt mentioning a time or two that when approaching conditions it often pays off ignore the cover & fish the structure. Maybe start by finding some hard bottom and go from there. Either way, not sure how much more of this I can endure. #watchingpaintdry A-Jay
  9. I think 'conventional wisdom' is to fish uphill when the water is warming and down hill when it's cooling. And I subscribe to that some of the time. But the vast majority of my success happens when I sit shallow, throw deep and fish 'up hill'. Regardless of the section of the water column I'm looking to target, or the type of presentation used, that's the best deal for me. A-Jay
  10. Wow ~ Seems I didn't miss a whole lot. Sort of surprised. A-Jay
  11. Not really sure if Bussey Brake 'sets up' for any one of todays anglers in particular. I expect to hear the twang of braided line a few times. But with all things being equal, seems hard to bet against J Wheeler. So I won't. I'll say Wheeler with a Bandito Bug . . . Should be fun either way A-Jay
  12. The AT4 takes premium and I run Rec gas through the V-8 ProXS, both are currently at $4.25 ish a gal. here. Don't drive much all winter but come open water I want to be able to go every day I can. Saw the writing on the wall and started a 'gas fund' at the end of last season. Glad I did, although the monthly allotment might need to be pumped up some more. Not a Fan. A-Jay
