I'll be on the water in the morning ~ Targeting green bass for a change and the RAT is already rigged & ready ! Let's Do this . . . A-Jay
  2. I like to catch trophy bass and my approach revolves around it. Though it can happen all season long, specific seasonal periods historically produce better results. In between, I fish for the best I can do at the time. But really do spend much more time on the water during the peak big fish periods. A-Jay
  3. In my world Hook size is directly related to the baits size, shape & profile. There needs to be sufficient bite or space between the hook shank and the bait itself to ensure proper hook penetration. Too small a hook, or the wrong shape of hook (Type) on a bulky bait can seriously reduce strike to landing ratio. Plastic ends up all balled up on the hook. No es bueno Also to be considered is the tackle I'm using (line & rod), as well as presence of cover and it's relative density. Lighter gear, lighter cover - lighter wire hook. Heavier gear, heavier cover - heavier wire hook. Think Gaff. YMMV A-Jay

  5. While I will admit to opening up a few on the rarest of occasions, the vast majority are fished as they come. A-Jay
  6. Good luck with that. A-Jay
  7. Round bend hooks suck. EWG hook up almost 100% for me. Maybe 95 Round bends just don't work for me. A-Jay
  8. I must be silly . A-Jay
  9. Use the 4/0 Also if the bait is balling up on the hook, add a Parasite Clip Or even a Parasite weight A-Jay http://parasiteweights.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=30&osCsid=heuigpglumupstl65rp6jg3uu0
  10. Between these two specific rigs & motors ~ IMO YES. A-Jay

  12. Thanks & Thanks. No power lifting for me - Just want to be able to move myself around for as long as I can. I keep it basic and try not to blow anything up. You know what it's like. Sorry for the hi-jack. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. A-Jay
  13. Nice Bass ~ But everybody know's it's all about those Lucky Flip Flops ! A-Jay
  14. Nope me either - Hope to make my 61st successful trip around the sun this August. And do what I can to keep myself in decent shape. Still if I can get them to eat a spybait - I'm a happy camper. A-Jay

  16. I do have the +2's - nice bait. However I have not yet established much confidence in it yet as I've only been fishing it since spring. Yes, I do fish jerkbaits 'all season long' but the vast majority of the plus sized brown bass I hunt with them, comes early & late season. Additionally, the wild and frenetic pace/action required to illicit a strike with a jerkbait during the warmer water periods, takes a toll on the wrist & forearms. So it's not a presentation I routinely use for an entire day or a few days in a row. Local smallies here go 'deep', like dropshot only kind of deep, for much of the summer. Early and late in the day they might be coaxed into a coming up for a jerkbait, but there usually seems like there's more ligament & tendon friendly methods of getting a bite then too. Don't mean to sound like a wimp, but if you've not done the high speed WACK WACK WACK jerkbait deal for 3 or 4 straight hours, try it. Harder than Deep Cranking or even the A-Rig IMO. A-Jay

  18. As a follow up ~ I am at my best, if I have 'confidence' in an area or particular piece of structure and that's always situational and dependent on season / current conditions. That's when I expect to get bit on any cast/every, regardless of what I'm throwing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. But for the first hour or so, I'm usually pretty pumped up. A-Jay
  19. I like to burn them too ~ Here's some more info on that. To the OP - the solder on the hook shank makes a very decent trailer keeper A-Jay
  20. Hope it goes well JB. A-Jay
  21. Snapper at the Boy Scout Camp ~ Ah those were the days . . . . . A-Jay
  22. I've got my eye on these as well. How much to they weigh ? Hoping it's a 1/2 oz bait. 5/8's would be even better. A-Jay
