Line and Leader Question
Most of the time ~ I do. 10 lb Sufix 832 braid and 8lb Seaguar Tatsu leader. I might bump the leader up to 10 lb if I'm throwing the shakey head somewhere I might need to move a fish a little; dock for example. As for High-Vis Braid, while I know several very experienced & accomplished bassheads have gone that way with all kinds of success I might add, for whatever reason I still have that mental block about the High-Vis aspect. So like George Costanza says, "It's not you, It's me". A-Jay

Tips for getting a new PB this year
I can't say for sure. While I have caught DD bass on swimbaits - none resembled trout. I've also taken DD fish on jigs, spinnerbaits, 10 inch worms, Big Flukes, Lippless and Crankbaits and a Scrounger. So there's that. A-Jay

Have you ever counted your lures?
Rather than count each individual bait, (which btw, I do not know the total of) I keep track of how many techniques I am ready & able to present effectively. The number of baits with in each technique varies depending on how often I use it. So we're looking at ~ Topwater hard & soft baits, shallow, mid & deep water cranking baits, Lippless baits, jerkbaits, Jigs to include; casting, football, finesse, swinghead, flipping, shakey head, tubes, swim jigs, hair jigs, & bladed jigs. Spybaits, underspins, scrougers, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, frogs, A-Rigs, swimbaits, drop shots baits, neg rigs, blade baits, jigging spoons, and a well stocked supply of assorted soft plastics to support all of that including a metric ton of terminal tackle and trailers. I really like a good trailer. A-Jay

Daiwa Fuego - Need Help!!
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Here's is my recommendation. There's probably nothing wrong with the reel. If I were going to fish the baits, techniques you listed above, I would use 10 lb Sufix 832 braid for a mainline. That 30 lb is IMO too much. Next, there are two factors that contribute to the line falling down off the bottom of the spool. One is too much line on the spool and the second is when a retrieve is made with a super light bait and there is no tension on the line, and when the reel is being held with the rod tip up, gravity takes over and the line is spun onto the base of the spool rather than up where you'd want it. Actions to correct this are, be conscious to keep tension on the line - especially the first few turns of the reel handle after the cast, hold your rod parallel to the water rather than tips up, and don't over fill your spool so the line has somewhere to go. That should 'fix' the problem. A-Jay

Drop Shot Main Line You Will Use This Year ?
For me 'line twist' that develops during drop shot presentations is almost always a product of how & what I choose to rig. Starts with the bait - IT MUST NOT SPIN ! Not on the fall and not on the retrieve. When it does, regardless of my mainline type/choice, there will be line twist. The more spinning, the more twisting. So my preferred baits are all deals that I can rig straight; No Bend - no kink. Also when the drop shot weight is not tied on / rigged straight, it can also cause the rig to spin. So when this is the case and one is dropping down 30 ft a couple of hundred times a morning and then reeling back up - hello problems. Finally, and this is something I see 'the Pros' do all the time, reeling against the reels drag. What is that about ? My Dad would cuff me right upside the head if I did that . . . I understand the concept of keeping a tight line but reeling just to introduce max line twist, seems unproductive at best. A-Jay
