Needs to be the correct type & size for your vessel. Needs to have the proper anchor line of sufficient length to effectively anchor in the deepest water fished. Needs to be Easily Accessible. A-Jay

Thanks ~ Gunner & Brody were re-homed, Tucker & Fenway (brother & sister) we've had since 8 weeks now 9 yrs old. Been together their whole lives. Matching people to the dog is as fun for us as the Foster itself. The dogs do much of the heavy lifting but there's some 'rules' we stand fast on. We learned some hard lessons over the years, which allowed us to fine tune & stream line the process. Always includes a home check - proven to be a very valuable tool; Conducted by the animal Shelter Director, not us. Potential adopters who are unwilling to participate, are not considered eligible. Several years ago I fished jerkbait on a glass cranking rod (Lamiglas 705R), I switched to graphite because while the stick certainly casted the bait well, the 'softer' blank seemed to absorb the majority of 'the action' I was imparting to the bait. Required quite a bit more angler input as compared to a graphite blank. Added up over the course of a day. A-Jay

Dogs have been a big part our lives for as long as I can remember. From volunteering at and fostering for the local shelter, placing & re-homing both pups & adults, and always having a small pack of our own, there are dogs coming & going every which way up here. An indoor / outdoor kennel & an in home 'puppy room' have proven quite helpful. Even do a little dog sledding - really fun. My wife has 'the thing', don't know what it is or what to call it, but whatever 'it' is, dogs trust her. I've learned a lot but she's the show. When the situation at home allows, we'll go to the shelter and bring home whatever dog the shelter believes is 'going to be the hardest to place'. We have a thing for larger dogs as well as northern Breeds but it certainly doesn't end there. Our foster time includes plenty of exercise, some basic skills training and a ton of TLC. Working closely with the director, the shelter allows us to re-home them which is always the best part. Satisfaction level is high - especially the hard cases that are deemed 'un-adoptable'. Using social media is a great way to 'show case' a pup for adoption and it's worked well for us. Showing a dog is ready to go usually triggers plenty of inquires. We can't save them all, but we love them all and even had a few 'foster failures' where we've kept them. It happens. By and large though, they spend 4 weeks or so at "The Pawz Pack Inn" after which they are usually ready to go to their forever home. Can't imagine not having a pack - the feeling of the combined 'spirit' is so good. Perhaps we need them more than they need us, either way it seems to work out OK. A-Jay

Nicely Done ~ You are totally heading in the right direction. Not easy putting yourself out there. There's a 'power' in it though, at least for me. Seems you've discovered it yourself, really good. Having the courage, will & desire to work for & find the best version of you, is in my book, as good as it gets. Thank you for posting & sharing your success. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ IMO, keeping a rig properly stored, cleaned, and maintained saves time and money. Big fan of both of those. My experience has shown that the outside appearance and overall condition of a rig, often carries on through out (and beneath) what can not be seen on the surface. IOW, if it looks like it was road hard & put up wet, it probably was. Pretty much the polar opposite of the bold text above. A-Jay

I can relate. Since I fish for fun and not to pay my mortgage, I don't feel putting added pressure on myself to be as proficient as a Professional angler is beneficial. I have some electronics and they've definitely helped my fishing is a few different ways. They were and continue to be, a challenge to learn to use effectively. I have no problem admitting that my 'skill' level regarding their use is still solidly in the novice category. Even if that's a far as I get with them, I still enjoy the added benefit I feel I get having them. I tried to make learning how to use, tune & read them 'fun'; sort of easier said than done - but doable none the less. Often spent the majority of my 'learning' time on the water, during periods of high sun & beautiful weather, when the bite may not have been the best but it was sure nice to be on the water. Having super clear water to 'learn' on seems helpful, as I can match what the screen is telling me to what is actually there - down to 15 or 20 ft sometimes. Adds confidence when I can't see and or when fishing new water. Finally there is no doubt that in the past several years, 'the technology' has improved WAY FASTER, than both my learning curve and my disposable income. Bottom line, I want to catch big smb, how I do it really doesn't matter. A-Jay
