  1. The complete randomness and lack of specifics of this purely hypothetical inquiry may not offer the highly experienced & very generous BR Membership an opportunity of provide much that could be construed as useful. A perhaps better route would be to educate yourself on what you need for the conditions you're most often faced with on the waters you fish and assess your options. Or you could throw a dart at some boat pics on the wall and see how that shakes out. Because IMO - that's what this thread is like. Is it open water yet ? A-Jay
  2. @Fishin Dad I use the Talons to launch & recover the rig on to the trailer EVERY TRIP. However, 30 years running boats, cutters & ships in the US Coast Guard, makes me tie it off with a line as well. Can't help it. Either way, the Talons are very helpful - when launching & recovering solo; which is about 99% of the time for me. Especially when it's a little sloppy. I've posted a few video's of this - here's one . . . A-Jay
  3. What is your specific towing vehicle of choice ? A-Jay
  4. Perhaps fish the area in & around the first steep drop closest to 'the channel'. The earlier in the season, perhaps the farther away (relative term) I'd be willing to start looking. As the days get longer, a drop off closer may be the deal. Cover to hang out on located on, near, or if there is not a real drop - in between, that structure could be gold. (Think Wood if the sun's out; even if it's windy.) If the water's clear, start deeper. Colored water may see Grandma a little shallower. Your water temp meter is your friend. A-Jay
  5. You're Welcome and Thank You for the kind words and the support. I certainly appreciate it. A-Jay
  6. When comparing the LTB (the older & the newer - have both) and the Tatula Elites AGS: Both are clean and high quality builds, both are super comfortable in the hand, and both are worth the price IMO. However as a human who's fished a few sticks (starting when Lyndon B. Johnson was running this show) - the LTB sticks feel & remind me of the older type blanks that are a bit more stout but actually bend when casting & fighting a fish. The AGS rods are lighter, definitely faster and though I haven't blown one up yet (something I'm somewhat prone to doing) I can see it happening if I'm not careful. This is not a KNOCK on these sticks just that the highest modular wands seem a little more - let's say brittle. Been fishing the St Croix rods for years and the AGS rods for only a couple of seasons. I like them both a lot and have no intentions of replacing them any time soon. Please remember these are MY opinions and not fact. YMMV A-Jay
  7. I haven't tried them ALL, so I can't really say. But I'm working on it though. A-Jay
  8. A most Astute & Insightful Review ~ Nicely Done @FryDog62 That Pro-V Bass seems like a very solid rig indeed. Congrats A-Jay
  9. My experience with spinning gear is that during the cast, the spool can easily & accurately be 'feathered' with a finger or two. Accomplishes the exact same result as 'thumbing' the spool on revolving spool gear. A-Jay
  10. There's That ~ And rite from da git go - it's been won a doz dayz. A-Jay
  11. Very Nice ~ We have three phone booths instead ~ A-Jay
  12. @detroit1 You may have me confused with that other guy ~ A-Jay
  13. Motivation comes in many forms. Thank you A-Jay
  14. Yup ~ You can always start with a basic set up and add what you find you may 'need' later. A-Jay
  15. Cut the handle to the length you want / need on the a rod you have & that you like. Eliminating 2 inches or so makes working a jerkbait better but other than that, you'll not notice the difference. #hacksaw A-Jay
  16. Thank you ~ Glad to hear the Mrs. is getting a clean bill of health and that you're on the mend and on schedule. As for a Home Gym - they've certainly changed and improved quite a bit over the years. Still, it's hard to find one that truly does it all; but I believe you can come very close. I purchased the unit I still use today in 2009. Building a home gym at 50 years old seemed like a decent way to all but eliminate any excuses. I had some space restraints so that played a role in my purchase. The unit in the link below is what I have - although it looks like it's changed a bit in the last 10 plus years, seems very close. I can recommend it. https://www.powertec.com/workbench-levergymr The unit in this link seems bigger and perhaps offers more in the way of exercise variations & options. It's clearly taking up more space too. https://www.powertec.com/workbench-multisystem As for missing throwing around Iron - I know what you're saying and had the same feelings and reservations before my purchase as well. What I've come to believe is that my structure benefits from the challenge offered by experiencing resistance on a routine basis. But it does not matter what form that resistance come from. As long as it is applied safely & is sufficient to require adaptation, it does the job. Good Luck A-Jay
  17. Had to do it ~ A-Jay
  18. FYI ~ GPS reception may be unavailable or unreliable over a large portion of the southeastern states and the Caribbean during offshore military exercises scheduled between January 16 and 24. Although directed at the aviation community - boaters may experience this as well. 19. Perfect - I can't really do the food coma any more although growing up in an Italian Family, it was pretty much a requirement. Now it's more about driving distance. By the time we get there - I'm Staving Marvin ! A-Jay
