  1. We got a little snow last night - and looks like there's a little more on the way. I might sleep in the Pro-V bass all weekend, just because. A-Jay
  2. You & me both ~ A-Jay
  3. Baits that get hung up have very little to do with hooks and a whole lot to do with the cast & the retrieve. If you're constantly losing baits - you're probably going to be better off fishing a different presentation. I like RED's as well, even change / upgrade the hooks on my cranks - every one. But hanging them up and not getting them back isn't the hooks fault. Save the lipless presentation for a different day /place. Perhaps try a swim jig with an appropriate paddletail swimbait or craw as a trailer. They are definitely fish catchers and considerably less prone to hanging up. Good Luck A-Jay
  4. Agreed ~ Flash at the bottom - dark on the top. A-Jay
  5. I take at least 9 in the Old Town. A-Jay
  6. Fish what you have confidence in based on your own experience. My personal fish catch by hook type for soft plastics breaks down like this: EWG 75% Straight shank 25 % Round bend - have them, but honestly haven't felt the need to tie one on in 10 years. A-Jay
  7. Very short term - like put on in the afternoon, sit over night & fish the next morning; I'll usually leave them on. ANYTHING longer than that - they come off and go into the pre-fished bag. I have to make a concerted effort to use the baits in the pre-fished bag first (when they are the deal) otherwise I just end up with a big bag of baits that just sit there. Z-man baits stay on longer, just because I can't get them off . . . . A-Jay
  8. Cool. Sweet Bait - Be careful, you might get your arm broke. A-Jay
  9. Say what you want about spinning gear ~ Love it or hate it. But the majority of the field fishing the MLF event today is paying the mortgage and putting their kids through college with it. A-Jay
  10. Pretty sure I could slip a few more in there A-Jay
  11. I thought that was a type at first ~ Talk about dropping the hammer. A-Jay
  12. If you're fishing clear(er) water - keep it natural/mellow - Ghost Gill, Tule Perch, & Ghost Minnow. Also the 'shiny' patterns , blue & blue chrome are poth staples in most any waters. Duo came out with some new patterns this year, that I do not have (yet). All three on the new "Craw" colored baits are binging very hard on the A-Jay Bait Monkey Radar screen. Going to have to Just fixed that. Either way - these are highly recommended. Brown bass here murder them. A-Jay
  13. I use both. Some light line techniques & presentations seem to lend themselves exclusively to spinning gear for me. Others, routinely heavier gear deals, are most often done with revolving spool tackle in my fishing. There are a few baits / presentations where I can & do use both; jerkbaits & blade baits immediately come to mind. A-Jay
  14. We got hammered with 2 ft of snow mid-April last year. My first day brown bass went in the net on the 5th of May; Which was two days after open water on Lake Menderchuck. Unless there is another major snow event - I should beat that this year by at least weeks. Maybe more - if we get lucky. A-Jay
  15. Bite your tongue ! I should be hammering brown bass in a week - maybe less. A-Jay
  16. I don't have a whole lot left to pull out ~ #baldlikecastanza A-Jay
  17. Current detrimental fore cast not with standing, we have had serious meltage (well it's a word now) past few days. A huge percentage of the snow & ice in & around the homestead has been dissipating at an alarming but most desirable rate. With only six days between now and the predicted / hopeful local open water date, time to re-check the gear and make any & all final fine tune adjustments. we all know that's just an excuse to go cast in my yard while I wait . . . . . . A-Jay
  18. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Beautiful Bass right there. Congrats on the PB A-Jay
  19. That's my favorite kind. Here's to a whole season of that. A-Jay
  20. Timing on this one made me smile. I sent Glenn a "Thank You" last night. His response made me smile too. He asked if I was OK ? A-Jay
  21. Nicely Done ~ 50+ spinnerbait bites - that had to be a blast. Way to start your year off with a BANG ! Congrats A-Jay

  23. Valid Point. And one reason I made the choice I did. A-Jay
  24. Thanks ~ Funny you should ask about sleep. I've never been much of a sleeper, really do like the solitude and tranquility of the night air. And my career didn't help me there either, quite a few long & all night evolutions. Stood many 24 hr shifts too. Next day I was toast. Service has changed that deal, for the better. I thrived in that environment though, at least partly because I hated sleeping. Most nights I had to force myself to get 5 or even 6 hours. It's different now, as I know the need for sleep is real, still have some nights (especially around the big moons) where I'm eternally bug-eyed at 3AM but they are less frequent than they used to be. Also, I'm not a napper. If I'm in the rack during daylight hours, I'm either deathly Ill or I was fishing the night before. I do prefer to train first thing in the morning on an empty stomach - so that I'm not half pumped and trying to sleep. Either way, now I try to get at least 7 hours a night. That's the target but I miss it at least a third of the time I guess; especially if the bite's hot. I tried a few OTC sleep aids, melatonin & Benadryl but I was a Zombie the next day. (May not have helped that I was only going to bed for 4 hours either) I do OK now I guess. A-Jay
  25. Perhaps turn your calendar pages back down to January. A-Jay
