Reeling hand?
Righty - Lefty, Dominant Hand, Non-Dominant Hand, Incorrectly or Correctly . . . Whatever - I'm looking for efficiency and in my case, this is what it looks like. (It does seem to help being able to cast from both the left & the right side). A-Jay

First two BPT groups revealed for next week's kickoff
I can see both sides of the coin here. And I am all about fish care. And while I'll always handle the fish I catch with respect and do try to offer them the best chance to recover & survive, years of doing this has show that not all will and sometimes there's nothing I can do about it. I do not see the need however, to overly complicate the process with rough handling; and you can define that however you want. NO doubt the actual act of setting the hook, depending on the type of bait, can & often does do some pretty serious damage. And the boat flip which ends up ricocheting off the console and the subsequent flopping on the deck for some time until the angler can get a hold of it, may not display the highest level of fish care either. Question is, can there be a happy medium ? If we are willing to accept whatever internal (or even brain damage) a 6/0 Trokar Mag worm hook (which is like a gaff) does when a 200 lb man steps back to set it with all his might into the roof of the basses mouth (right between the eyes), then we may also have to accept whatever happens next. Post catch 'fish care' in many instances may be like putting a Band-Aid on a gun shot wound but it's really all we can do. A-Jay

Calcutta 400 or Tranx 400?
I have the 300D and the Tranx 300HG ~ Both GREAT REELS. The Both hold about the same line capacity where they differre is in gear ratio / IPT. Callcutta D and the standard Tranx are both 'slower" at 5.7:1 the TranxHG is comsiderable fast at 7.6:. Fished swimbaits south of the border for a week straight last Oct using the 300D & the Tranx 300HG. I like the 300D a little more as it's easier to keep the bait low & slow because of the IPT. However the Tranx was clearly much better at helping me 'catchup to' beasts coming at me. Can't go wrong with either one. A-Jay

Reeling hand?
Me too ~ And I tried to go lefty on casting gear, I really did. But in the end, I couldn't take the 'The Spastic Gumby' feeling. So I gave up on it. A-Jay

Comfy bass shoes?
Can't say as my 2 pair are multi-year veterans as well. Don't see me needing new ones anytime soon either but I'll be sure to check them out first when I do. A-Jay

Comfy bass shoes?
You'll get no heat about them from me. I wear Crocs around the house 24/7/365 - Love'em. Just can't do them on the water. Pre-Dawn & over night air temps can be in the low 40's - even in July. My tootsies can't handle that. A-Jay

This doesn't surprise me at all
They bagged me in the GTO when I was going back & forth from NJ to MI looking for a house before I retired. According to the Ohio Officer my 'speed was excessive' - I could really argue that one. A-Jay

I have to do that towing the Boat. The pothole avoidance not the drunk driving . . . Just to be clear. A-Jay

Suggestions for Next Rod Upgrade
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ M/F spinning rod for shakey head, tubes, wacky rigged senkos, light jerkbaits - Good choice especially if you're not familiar yet with casting gear and want to wait a bit before you try. M/F casting rod for jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and light jigs Another good choice - especially if you're familiar with casting gear or you want to try -btw start with 15 lb mono line MH/F casting rod for bigger baits >1/2 oz? Again another fine choice - with the exception of the jerkbaits - you can easily fish the same baits as on the M/F stick but with a little heavier line. Texas rigged plastics on this one are a good choice from shore too. Good Luck A-Jay

Your Latest Opinion: Solunar Calendars
I am a believer - in both full & new moon phases. While I fish when I can, when 'the moon is right', I'll admit to having higher expectations. Fished the blackest new moon nights for both salt & sweet water bass with decent results for a long time. My last trip to Mexico was scheduled almost a year in advance to include a full moon right in the middle of week long stay. Turned out to be the best big fish experience of my life. Was it the moon ? Who knows. But you can bet that I'll be back there same time this year. (already booked it) I have also had many complete skunkings during these times. Moon might have nothing or everything to do with either one. A-Jay

Vexus Boats
Not to Hi-Jack this thread (even though we sort of are) Yes - I've been 'looking' at these seats since G-man posted a recent video up about them and A few BR members posted about them as well. Seems there's at least three different models or type out there. Two have a black frame with the dimensions you listed. One of those, has what looks like black screws along the short rounded edge - didn't care to be sitting / leaning on those. The slightly larger 'salt water' model in a bit bigger, a little heavier and is the way I went. Price way right too. A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
Thank You and Congratulations Sam ~ Way To Go !!!!!!!! White flour & white sugar are essentially useless food products. The taste lasts seconds, body fat seems to build & linger quite a bit longer. No doubt in my mind you'll be posting how you SMASHED THAT GOAL in April ! A-Jay
