  1. For the past few seasons, it's been the A-Rig or Umbrella Rig, whichever name you like. Whatever it's called, I threw that thing until one or both of my arms were about to fall off but with much less than the desired results. But last August, I got on some fish with it. Still not exactly certain if I was 'doing it right' or if perhaps the bass were feeling particularly suicidal, either way somewhere during the next 2 months "the light went on". I'll be throwing it again too - as soon as my casts stop bouncing. And then there's The Glide Bait - Got a whole box of'em. Been tossing this one around for twice as long as the A-Rig; sort of hate these foolish things. I just don't Get it ! Even fished it south of the border where I totally expected the bait to get Hammered . . . . . nope. It was like I was fishing a shoe. I'll keep at it though because at this point - it's personal..... . . . . . A-Jay

  3. LOL ~ Really Did . . . I do believe that's where it may have originated for me as well . . A-Jay
  4. No doubt - and way out there - I probably should go OC. Bears certainly don't care. A-Jay
  5. No Doubt ~ And I will admit to getting some strange looks after I get off the water by any of the "Campers" that might still be knocking around in the dark. And for whatever reason, it's always one or two of the same songs . . Either "America the Beautiful" or "I've Been Working on the Railroad" . . . And I'm pretty sure I'd not get a Golden Ticket for either performance . . . A-Jay
  6. A couple of pre-dawn black bear sightings has me 'singing loudly' as I approach these particular ramps during twilight. A-Jay
  7. I fish from two rigs - the Old Town Canoe & the Pro-V Bass. Called for a system of storage which would allow me to 'Grab & Go'; meaning rather than having two sets of everything, I wanted it to be semi-mobile and still have everything I needed. I also fish at night in both rigs, so I needed to have my act together for that - labeling for easy Identification for both night & day, while still being a 'system' that allowed for easy access & tackle removal when needed. Solution ~ a Cabelas Worm Binder. It has see through "sleeves' that allow for easy tackle ID & organization - while still offering portability. I leave the hooks in there original packs (but label by size) and store them in sperate sleeves organized by type; Heavy, Light EWG, Round Bend, Drop Shot - etc. I also use this binder for assorted terminal tackle,- split rings, swivels & clip, wacky rigging supplies - One Stop Shopping, everything in one place - Works for me. 10. There's some more on the way Chris . . . Retirement is what we can manage to make out of it. It's not all sunshine and rainbow but it definitely has it moments. I never enjoy having to check the next to the last 'box' on any age questionnaire or form. Means I only have one left. Plan is to make the most of that. A-Jay
  11. While I can not ever see these plugs 'coming out' on their own (falling out essentially), they are easily lifted up & out of the wholes with most any small, flat, square ended implement. A small screwdriver works for me. A-Jay
  12. Good Question ~ And something I was concerned with as it doesn't take much to get me up-ended. It may depend on how a seat post is designed. My rig has a small 'insert' that sits about an 1/8 inch above the deck. These plugs sit 'flush' with that but is about another 1/16 of an inch above that. So although it will be a while before I get to float around, I do not expect it will take too long to acclimate to the additional 3/16 of an inch. A-Jay The two sizes I've seen available are 0.75 and 1.77 inch. https://bobsmachine.com/product-category/deckplugs-decksavers-cnc-machined-deck-accessories/ A-Jay

  14. All things being equal, a S/S screw is almost always a better performer than aluminum. However, the first thing I'd recommend is to check your U S Coast Guard Maximum capacity plate numbers. An accurate calculation that includes the total weight of you, your passengers, your gear (meaning motor, batteries, fuel as well as any & ALL gear on the boat) will allow you to recognize where you stand as it relates to what type of performance you can expect - regardless of your prop type. Additionally, according to Ranger, the RT178 is rated for 75 hp - you may have something else. Either way, the closer your numbers are to 'maximum capacity', the less performance improvement you can expect. If you are close to or over loaded, I'd address that first. If you're weight looks well with in parameters, you're too underpowered, and you're motor's getting to the recommended RPM's at WOT, as mentioned above, you might get a few more mph out of the top end. If nothing else, you'll probably improve the vessels ability to get on plane. A-Jay

  18. Having our dogs loose in our vehicles (regardless of the type) is fun, until it's not. Somehow Scooby managed to get this one into "Reverse" at the Exact Wrong moment. Oh wait, is there a right one ? Thankfully, No one was hurt. A-Jay

  21. Yea - you know what it's like. Temps in the kennel over night dipped below 20 for the first time this season. When it plummets down to single digits (and below), the dogs sleep inside & my house starts getting real small . . . A-Jay
  22. Might be needing a fourth layer in the coming weeks . . A-Jay
  23. Every time this thread title pops up in my cue the question of "Are they making Meat papers now or are we stuffing pork chops into a meat pipe ?" Hits me hard. Sorry I can't help it - I have a problem. A-Jay
