Battery bank thoughts?
Yes ~ Standard deal is (3) 31's for the 112 Fortrex and the 4th 31 runs everything else. (including the 360 imaging) Days where I'm on the TM a ton (especially in the wind & waves) I'm glad I have the 3 31's Other days when I'm spot hopping, using the Talons a bunch, catching fish & running the live well pumps, I almost wish I had another battery for the rest of it. btw - and on a separate note - I purchased a jumper battery to take the worry out of a dead cranker - I've not ever really come close but - now it's not even a concern - works on the truck 6.2L also - I'm alone on some big water a lot - especially early & late in the season - there' spotty cell phone coverage also, so I need to be mostly self sufficient. Food for thought Check it out. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016UG6PWE/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 A-Jay

Battery bank thoughts?
I'm running 36V and a 4 bank to include the cranker. Between running the live well recirculating pump, 2 Helix 10's, the nav lights early morning or at night and the twin Talons going up & down all day, it's pretty much a must. Especially since I don't always make a long run back to the ramp at the end of the trip. That one 31 is usually the battery showing the need (by lights on the charger) for the most recharge. A-Jay

tips for fall Smallmouth bass
Rage Bug on a swing head ~ 1/2 oz works DRAG it along the bottom (seems better than hopping it) use a stop & go deal - move it 2 or 3 feet stop for just a second, and then repeat. Don't give them too good a look at it - - they will choke it ! Good Luck A-Jay

extended warranties ?
@jbmaine ~ Going to a Fishing or Outdoor show over the winter can be a decent way to get useful information on trolling motors, electronic & just about anything & everything you'll need (and don't need) for your new rig. You'll be able to see, get hands on and compare brands & models of the newest gear as well as talk directly to the knowledgeable humans who sell it. I spent some extended time at a big show here in MI looking at gear, as well as the rig I was planning on purchasing prior to placing any orders. It proved very helpful as I was afforded a couple of how to and ono on one demo's my sales reps on several electronics. I went the first day the show opened (Thursday I think) just as it opened, before it got crowded and in advance of the Sales reps getting burned out. All were ready, willing & very motivated to show off their gear. I did not purchase any gear at the show. (I had made prior arrangements to get them & have them installed by the dealer; just had to decide what I wanted. Worked out nicely.) But my point is the prices were at the very least competitive at the show and in some cases very attractive. Just a little food for thought. A-Jay

Uphill, downhill or parallel?
I prefer to be presenting baits up hill the vast majority of the time. So I'm sitting 'shallow' & throwing 'deep'. Something that goes right along with this subject for me is wind direction and possible current. I do not like fishing 'cross' wind at all - besides making many presentations tough - strike detection can be a little tricky depending on what I want (need) to throw, at least for me. Either way I have more success fishing either straight into or down wind. Now factor that into the up hill, parallel or down hill question, and I say I'll set up to fish the conditions first and the structure second, almost every time. Worst case scenario is trying to present something cross wind & current. I rarely find myself fishing parallel, I do it, but like I said not much. Best case for me is straight into the wind & current and up hill. I've had some very memorable days on the water doing that one. I usually plan when & where I fish (which lake) based on which way the wind is forecast to blow. This can offer at least a decent opportunity to fish effectively. To disregard it can complicate an already complicated deal. YMMV A-Jay
