  5. My very first trip south of the border (2013) my line selection looked like yours. Turns out is was Wildly Insufficient. I recommend NOTHING Less than 20 lb and 25 lb is not out of the question. I use both quite a bit there. I am going there to catch the fish of a life time, I want the odds in my favor. Even then, depending on the cover, I've had freight trains saw me off in a heart beat on trees and rock ledges. YMMV A-Jay
  6. Take a look at how much snow has fallen across the U.S. so far this winter. Southern cities like New Orleans and Pensacola have had more snow than places like Salt Lake City and Omaha. Of course this winter we have been buried several times. I say again, Several. A-Jay
  7. Well That's Just Awesome ~ Congrats on sticking with it and getting the footage of such a great fish back. So you're saying you like that blade bait then ? Good Times A-Jay
  8. Right on schedule with Workout Day 3 today. Been a while since I did Rack Pull reps with 450 lbs. At 65 I need to pick my spots but it felt pretty good. We'll see if I'm singing the same tune tomorrow. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  9. This is an interesting and entertaining topic to read through on this cold and very snowy day in the north woods. I'd like to leave this one right here . . . How could you not root for this guy ? A-Jay
  10. According to the local NWS, it has snowed at least a trace every single day this January here, and going back to 2024, 63 out of the last 69 days. Meaning I'm on the clean the snow one day, get more snow later that same day and overnight, clean the snow one day, get more snow later that same day and over night, clean the snow one day, get more snow later that same day and over night, clean the snow one day, get more snow later that same day and over night, Program. Move to the snow belt they said. It will be fun they said . . . . There had better be several giant smallies in my future. And I do mean several ! A-Jay

  12. If there was a Member Status section, that's where I'd have put this one. . . . . . Road Conditions here have been nothing short of treacherous today. Started with high winds and ice on the highway blowing trucks & trailers off the road, on their sides and into the median / ditch. Local, county & state police have been at it ALL DAY. Haven't heard anyone request EMS Yet so that's good. And about 3 hours ago it's started snowing again - Hard. We listen to the radio chatter on a scanner app and it's almost comical just how many vehicles are off the road. The community ran out of wreckers hours ago. Folks are just stranded and awaiting for emergency crews to get to them. At this point it's "Take a Number". The dispatch chatter is classic. Going to be a cold, snowy & busy night for first responders. 🥶 A-Jay
  13. You have no idea ! A-Jay
  14. Hope I get to find out. I was there when Mike made his first trip there - He was Big Eyed the Whole time. As I remember the lake was on fire that week and we all had a time. Jurassic park meets Disneyland. A-Jay
  15. We all need goals. Good Luck with that one. #icebreaker 🥶 A-Jay
  16. Just spent the better part of the late morning and early afternoon performing some much needed snow removal operations. Super windy but air temps were almost 30 which was nice. All & all, it went well. Renewed my state watercraft registration on line today. Now all set thru March 2028. That felt pretty good knowing the Pro-V Bass will be remain legal in the eyes of the those folks who care about such things. Meanwhile it's down to 74 Days and a wake up ~ A-Jay

  18. Completed Workout Day 2 on this one. 3 working sets of the 4 scheduled movements. Training on Sunday just seems better for me. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  19. We are each different in what we feel good about when it come to 'insurance. I'm a fan of and am willing to pay for Total loss replacement Usually available for purchase if you’re the original owner of your boat and it’s no more than one model year old. Mine was new. If your boat is totaled within 5 model years, I get a new one or I'm reimbursed the amount that I originally paid for a totaled boat—my choice. If the rig is outside the 5 model-year window, I still get the original purchase price of the boat. Depreciation is also taken into account and covered. Bottom line is if in the unlikely event my rig is a total loss, I'm paying to recover the most I can get given the circumstances. Paying good money for less coverage does sit well with me. YMMV A-Jay
  20. Nice ~ IMO, it's ALL 100 % Bassless. Until I am able prove otherwise. A-Jay
  21. The favorite hard water past time of digging up older threads. Totally guilty of it myself. I like it too. As for this one, besides the obvious challenge of having so much more water to cover & eventually eliminate, there's the the matter of 'timing'. Smaller water will often allow a basshead to sort of bump into the fish when they are feeding. Since it take less time to cover the less acreage, the chances improve a bit in that regard. This seem less of a thing when there's some vast-ness to a body of water. Being on the right spot, at the right time and doing the right thing rarely happens by chance. Usually requires at least some map study and then . . . . . whole lot of fishing time. And the fishing time needs to happen during different times of the day, different days of the week (depending on boating traffic) and even during different seasons: at each potential spot. I have great spots that I only visit and find find fish at very specific times, and even during specific times of the year. Could be a bust in the spring and Boom in the Fall. Even vice versa too. So Timing can be serious swing & miss deal anywhere but big water in particular. But when we connect, it's usually pretty good. A-Jay

  23. Often times there's more to it than just catching bass . . . A-Jay
  24. Old thread alert ! Back in May 2018, I managed a 29-7 lb bag. It was a calm and quiet morning that began with a bang. My first brown bass of the day was a tank ! On the scale she was half a goby shy of 7 lbs. Just a gorgeous northern Michigan specimen. I was pumped. Only got 4 more fish on this trip, but they were all over 5 pounds. A jerkbait & a vibrating jig each accounted for a pair of fatties. With the wind coming on pretty good, I called it a day; but what a day. One I will definitely remember for a long time. My largest to date, still targeting the very elusive but most magic 30 lb bag. A-Jay
