  1. Would you two nice people be interested in adopting a 65 yr old man ? I'm really just a big kid at heart. No really . . . I have my own dog and everything. 👦 A-Jay
  2. @subwayrocket Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I don't own this stick, but perhaps check out the Daiwa Kage B Spinning Rods You seem to be looking for very specific and somewhat uncommon blank characteristics. These might be of interest - although a little hard to find. Good Luck A-Jay https://www.basstacklemaster.com/Daiwa-Kage-Bass-spinning-rods-p/daiwakagsr.htm Model KAG6101MHXS-B Length 6'10" Power Medium Heavy Taper Extra Fast Line Wt. 6-12lb Lure Wt. 3/16-5/8oz Guides 9+Tip Handle Length 15-1/4"
  3. My last few units experienced some type of lead poisoning. Before that their life spans ranged from 3 to just over 6 years. A-Jay
  4. Workout Day 3 today. Not going to lie, some days I can't wait to get into the gym, and some days it's quite the mental battle to get down there. Today was more of that second one. I do believe that Consistency really is part of the secret sauce. So once I got going, I felt a little better about doing the work. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  5. I just could never make that jump to the neon stuff. Fished Golden Stren when it was in fashion, but bailed on it when something better came along. Now, I rarely 'look' at my line. At least not in a manner that's designed to assist me in strike detection. Fishing for a long time at night taught me to use the the force Luke. So the clear FC, green or bronze mono and green Braid is fine. A-Jay
  6. I most certainly did. And you know you loved it too ! That's what happens when you're #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  7. Hello @ArcForce and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Interesting first post. I'd say you can't please every one so you gotta please yourself. Fish Hard A-Jay
  8. I think that's like asking how many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop. The world may never know. A-Jay
  9. I have No Idea if or what a red treble hook on a bait is suppose to mimic or what a bass might believe it is. And I don’t actually care. But there's No Way to convince me that it REDUCES bites in any way, shape or form. I've extracted too many from trophy size bass to change back now. YMMV A-Jay
  10. And I still buy them. A-Jay
  11. That's the first FC I used too. Was also the last for about 5 or 6 years. I will admit that in many respects, they named it perfectly. 😎 A-Jay
  12. The very first few versions of flourocarbon line. I was using it as leader material in front of braid on casting gear. The knot strength was non-existent. I was on a killer jig bite for 3 days and I bet I popped off 20 bites on the hookset. I was fit to be tied. You'd think I would have learned after the first 2 or 3. But, nope. Not this snappahead. I wiil say my rig got a lot lighter without all those hand tied jigs on board. You can't fix stupid. A-Jay
  13. According to the local national weather service, the home team here has accumulated 102.9 inches of snow so far this winter. We like that. Only need 4 more feet and we'll be at the seasonal average. A-Jay
  14. Been pretty much what we'd be expecting right about now weather wise. Air temps under 10 past few days with on and off snow. I sort of let the cat out of the bag a little while ago that there is another Lake Baccarac trip in the works for this fall; looks like Nov. Anyway, I've been slowly picking away at that 'list'. Don't need much, just getting gear in order and such. As for the Open Water deal, I'm looking at 96 days. So once it's under 100, I become a double digit midget. I like it. A-Jay
  15. Workout Day 2 on this frigid Sunday in the north woods. Completed 3 working sets of the 4 movements scheduled today. Nothing fancy, just doing the work. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I'm several miles north of you. A-Jay
  17. You Sir are an INSPIRATION ! Congratulations for not only having one heck of an excellent January trip, fishing solo is hard enough but willing yourself through those nasty brutal conditions and Still weighing killer smallies. Im-Pressive ! And I know it's early on yet, but the bold text quoted above will be a contender for quote off the year for me all of 2025 ! Nicely Done . A-Jay
  18. Hello and welcome to Bass Resource ~ So, state of the art electronics paired with 60 year old reels ? I don't get it. A-Jay
  19. Thanks for the kind words my friend, I certainly appreciate it. Any of us who puts in the time and effort into preparing to capture once in a life time moments and then it doesn't work out well, KNOWS 'The Feeling' - It's pretty brutal. I say that to let you know that I do share your pain, so I hope you can get past this soon. And let's Focus & Celebrate the hard work & effort you put into catching that awesome bass. Revel in that success. btw- it's 3 degrees here. 🥶 A-Jay
  20. First Congrats on a great bass - and you know it's a great bass. We all do. But losing the video is no doubt Such a GIANT Downer. (and my worst nightmare and one reason why I run two cameras.) Really hope you can get the data back somehow. I would really enjoy hearing another basshead besides just me 'begging' for the fish to stay pinned and go in the net. And we both know you did plenty of that . . . 😎 Either way Congrats again on a Great Bass . . . And it happened once. . . . . . . . . It could happen again. #fishhard A-Jay
  21. Here's my list, which actually covers several years on the water, recreationally & professionally. You may notice some repeat offenders. Sunglasses - 5 pair plus. Ball Caps - Several A 10 lb mushroom anchor (don't ask) Deck/Boat shoes - some right foot, some left. Had a marker buoy sink out of sight one time, that was fun. Lost an assortment to tools standing in the surf at night. And finally, I've lost my mind more times than I am willing to admit. In fact it's mostly half gone right now. 🤪 A-Jay
  22. Hey Swamp Slayer, you need to fix that. (netting, unhooking, measuring, and photographing) the smaller bass, is just practice for the mutants you're destine to catch. I hope to learn from all my video & picture evolutions, so that I have it down "PAT" for The One Freak of a Freak I might catch. Good Luck next season. A-Jay
  23. OK ~ Now how do we get some of the Florida Strain into the the Smallmouth in Lake Menderchuck ? I'll do anything !!!! A-Jay
  24. Agreed ~ My default line is; "Habitat trumps genetic almost every time." Clearly whatever 'genetics' are needed to grow healthy bass is a great starting point. But a simple way to support this is just looking back at the Hay Day of the west coast trout eaters. They didn't start getting crazy big until the trout stocking started. Might be a somewhat extreme example, but I'm not sure those fish had special genetic to start with. Since the stocking has stopped, the giants routinely caught there are few and far between. Also, insert the Goby. Caused a brown bass explosion in size up this way. I won't even talk about a particular lake in Mexico. So I'm good with, "Feed Them and They Will Grow". A-Jay
