  1. Good chance that not all the bass were doing the the same thing at the same time. Perhaps fishing a location with deeper water and less chance of "Spooking" the bass. Also since you could see the bass "spooking", I'll always contend that they could see you; or at least be generally aware of your presence. Never the best case scenario when it comes to getting bit. I'd try a few presentations there, but unless these are truly HUGE Bass, I'm moving on. I can get skunked anywhere on the lake, might as well look for more cooperative bass in another location. A-Jay
  2. Perhaps if they were "Silent", maybe battery operated, then might feel less hatred. But honestly, that's a pretty weak "might" A-Jay
  3. In the hard bait category ~ Several of the quality jerk / slash baits can be worked in this fashion. And a Real Sleeper is the Rapala X-Rap Sub-Walk. This bait has accounted for many a quality bass for me over the years. A-Jay

  18. Sometimes it feels like I am Catt ~ But no, there's always a plan in advance. And I guess you could call the plan a Pattern - it's what I'd expect to find once on the water. But as you've noted, the plan or pattern Is Always subject to change. In fact we all know that it can & does change week to week, day to day and even hour to hour. Depending on the lake and the time of year, I could start out a morning on a shallow crank or topwater bite and by 11 am I'm getting bass on a drop shot in 25 feet. But Even that's a pattern right ? 19. By myself ~ I'm fishing alone. With my soulmate ~ I'm Guiding". A-Jay
  20. Besides the Floatation / Buoyancy type devices, there are a number of rod tether / leashes on the market that attach your equipment to the boat. In the event it's dropped or knocked over the side one only needs to pull it back in. Both types have their pros & cons. Admittedly it's a little different, but I fish from a canoe and do not use either. I've never splashed one ~ At least one I couldn't recover . . . . Knock Wood. A-Jay

  24. You're Welcome - The trips south are great and there are some great bass to be caught there - but Like ALL of bass fishing, you don't Always get the big one. And your two fish right here are both bigger that anything I managed on my last trip - so you may not have to go anywhere . . . A-Jay
