I have always used hot dogs (cut-up) and dog food. They have worked for me.

I have lost many of them throughout my fishing time. But like frogtog said, if you fish enough it will happen. You have learned from your mistake and I bet you NEVER make that same mistake! ;D

When you fish a jig you want to have a slow very subtle movement. You can catch bass on a jig by swimming it but the most effective way is to just "jig it". I fish a jig by letting it sink all the way to the bottom and keeping the line tight but also slack enough to let the bait fall naturally. Once the bait hits the bottom I will let it set for about 10-20 seconds and then either drag it across the bottom or jump it. Then let it sit for another 10-20 seconds. Bass are lazy and they want an esy meal. I have seen some of the largest bass ever caught on a jig. I would try a football head jig with a rage tail craw on as a trailer. Good Luck!!

Don't be scared just grip it with a firm grip. I wouldn't grip it too tight but do it just hard enough so that you have control over it. BTW be mindful of the hook and where in the bass' mouth it is... It could cost you your whole fishing trip.

I have a lake very similar to your pond. I have talked with the owner and he has allowed me to take about 300 LMB out of it. The largest I have taken was about 14" When I take these fish I relocate them into another lake. I have a public lake I take them to because people decide to keep every fish they catch so I add fish to help out other fishermen/women. Since I have started this the private lake has not been so productive but I have caught many larger fish. The public lake is now a lot more fun to fish. So it will hopefully work out for the better for both lakes. JMPO

The picture was too small for me to even see the fish. That is a sad story, Someone probably tried to kill the algea and ended up applying to much weed killer and killed all the fish. People that do not know what they are doing do that alot. >

The best I have done all year this year is a 4lber. I've had many break of that were way bigger, but since I have boated the 4lber, well thats the biggest LMB I have caught so far this year. :-[ :-[

Try using the BTS spray that works great!!! I've used it before on my sunglasses and it worked great.

I use a spinning reel for my flukes as well. Maybe it is just because I have never really tried to use any other reel with them yet but I like the way they work with what I have and I don't like to change gear unless I have to.

I fish a pretty murky river and my favorite zoom trick worm is the Watermelon/Kiwi color. I kill 'em on that!!

There is no possible way I could ever have too much tackle. I had all of my boxes full one day while preparing for a tournament and my fiance looked at me and told me I had a bunch of tackle and she doesn't understand why I am always at the store buying more tackle. I told her that it was funny that she mentioned it because I need to get more boxes because I do not have enough of one lure. So I told her to get ready and when we got to the store i ended up spending $200.00 on fishing stuff and $150 on her make-up. Who would have thought I would have to buy her something in order to get what I wanted. LOL If I ever have bait that is not working for me at the time I will give it to my little cousin since I am trying to get him into fishing and then when I take him and I open up my boxes of lures and use them he opens his and still outfishes me. Then he tell me that I should never have given the bait to him. LOL But it is nice to see him getting some fish. ;)

LOL But I could never see myself going to BPS with $50.00 I would go with maybe $50.00 in cash and make sure I have my credit cards, Cause you know your old friend the "bait monkey" will jump on my shoulder and direct me to everything I "NEED" and then I will go home broke and with a mad wife!!!
