  1. Scent from dipping or smoking has never affected the bass I catch. I even moisten the line when I have a dip in when I have to tie a knot. But its hard to beleive that you're 32 yrs old and hardly ever fished!!!! Well welcome to the great sport and if you do it right you will be hooked in no time. Heck you might even cancel college hahahahaha ;D
  2. Yah I have to agree with ya'll. The Snot grass is annoying and I hate it too. However, It is a great place that bass love to hide. Grass will always hold bass. I fish the tidal Potomac and if you don't fish the grass you wont catch anything and thats a fact!!!! Dont give up. I am new to the whole concept of grass fishing too. I was told when I first started fishing grass to fish vertically and always use some type of scent. Not only will the scent attract the bas but it will also help the bait slide thru the grass without getting hung up. Try it and you wont be disappointed!!! Good Luck to you in your new quest!!!
  3. If I had a lunch break I would always be on the water hahaha Great job staying in the heat!!!
  4. I can say pretty much what everyone else has said. Early morning and late evenings.... Those are the best times to catch the bass feeding and not make you die of heat stroke. haha But topwater has not slowed down at all on the tidal waters. Hit ALL the grass mats!!! Grass will provide a cool climate for the bass this time of year. If you don't like fishing the mats try DEEP water structure. That is the way I am fishing. Good luck to you.
  5. I would have to say I disagree with this method. No offense to you. But I have tried this method a few times before. Everytime I fish like this I always catch small fish. But when I take the second hook off I always catch larger fish. It really all depeneds on where you are fishing also. I have a private 85 acre lake and i only fish a 10" worm. I catch all kinds of sizes of bass. My advice to ya'll is as soon as you get a hit let the bass really take it. You don't want to give them to long or they will swallow the hook. Good luck bud
  6. I fish a private lake about 85 acres big and I always catch small dinks. I was told if you take the small fish out it will give the larger fish a chance to eat more and grow larger. If that is true I would love to hear it from ya'll. PM me if you can help me out!!!!
  7. My personal best wascaught last year in the hottest weather I have ever fished. I caught it on a 4" renegade purple worm. I caught a 9.5 LMB in a farm pond with the water about 5ft at its deepest spot at 1230 pm in may 2007. The pond is about 15 acres and hard to access without a small boat.
  8. So when are you taking me out???
  9. Nice fish!!!!
  10. Well I know it wasn't the most intelligent thing to do but I have never won a tourney... And we had fish in the boat and we thought we had a good chance of winning. Unfortunatley there was a couple of other guys who had the same ideas. They stayed out at least 30-45 mins after we had already came in. We came in 3rd.. Of course not in the money. But we will win someday. And I refuse to stay out in another storm that bad!!! Thanks for the concern guys and I will definatley not do anything dumb like that ever again!!
  11. WELCOME TO THE BEST SITE ON THE WEB!!!!
  12. Welcome friend!!!
  13. Happy you joined!!!! ;D
  14. Glad you could join us!!!! Anything you could possibly need answered about fishing just ask I promise someone can help you!!!
  15. One thing that I can tell you is "big dish big bait" don't fish with little 4" worms. use a bait that you would think a big bass would go after to fill it up! I like to fish with a 10-12" worms they usually produce the bigger sized bass!!! Good luck to you an let me know how that works for you
  16. Bass chump... Look at her face!!!! She looks sooo happy with that fish!!! You don't always have to go out and catch the huge ones!!! Take her out to a local farm pond if you have any close by and let her fish with real worms, live minnows. I'm sure she will catch a nice bass, crappie anything!!! I hope your trolling motor and you transducer problems have been fixed for you but if they havn't I would love to do ANYTHING to help you out!!! I am not a Father yet.... But I know one day I will and taking your daughter fishing and spending time with her really makes her realize what a great person you really are. The reason I know all this is because my father took me and my sister out fishing alot. Yea we are in the same "boat" you are in. We hardly ever caught anything. But it wasn't about the catching it was more about the quality time my sister and I spent with my dad. You sound like a terrific dad and beating yourself up because of your bad luck is just gonna make things worse. I hope everything works out for you!!! Don't be worried to ask for anything I see I'm not the only one who wouldn't mind helping you out at all!!! If you need anything and I mean anything just pm me and I will be more then happy to do what I can to help you!!!!
  17. Try a Senko!!! Using a 1/8oz weight. they have a very erratic fall and they never land in the same spot. just fish it like a jig! I love fishing with these lures they have definatley been my goto bait this year!
  18. The worst lure I have used so far this year is deep diving crank baits!!!! I don't know if I just don't know how to use them but I can not get a hit off of them! If someone knows alot about these lures could you please let me know? I se KVD throwing his "Sexy Shad" and I just cannot get it to work for me please pm me if you can help me!!!
  19. Okay ron thanks alot for the info. I'll be sure to read up on it!!
  20. Well one good thing about where we were is that we were up in Aquia creek. We stayed out closer to the "no wake" zone from Hope Springs. Alot of the other guys went out alot farther then we did. I think we could have done pretty well without the weather problems. We had 2 fish in the boat before the other competitors were even out of the "no wake" zone. Well I will most definatley NEVER stay out in any crap like that ever again!!! And for the record I wasn't in my boat I was fishing with a buddy of mine. He had even more nuts then I had about it.
  21. I am looking for a great club in NoVa where I feel like Im not a jackass trying to fish against a bunch of guys that really don't like the new guys who are not in their "click" I know that is a long sentence but i didn't know how to downgrade it. I just get tired of fishing tournaments where there are so many people fishing them that they just over look the new guy and don't want to help/pass-on any info on anything. I fish alot of the big money tourneys just so "IF" I win I can just take my money and walk away like I'm better then them. But in all reality I would like to be in a club that is all about fun fishing and big money... I know that is hard to find but maybe there is one out there.
  22. Holy crap!!!!!!!!! No kidding my buddy's 7' pole was making a buzzing noise. He was working a worm slowly and it would only buzz when he was raising the pole! That is soooo weird!
  23. HAHA No i just said that I would throw it all day cuz after about 15 mins I get ticked off and grab my old faithful worm and start slamming them. I just don't know what to do to make them work.... I even add garlic spray to all of them.
  24. HAHAHAHA I'd have to agree!!!! I hate that little talking thing!!!
