I have fished Lake Anna maybe 15 times. I have had very little luck out there. The most luck I had was fishing Valentine Cove in the cold of winter this year. I was throwing a 12" red shad color "Culprit" worm carolina rigged, and I bagged a decent 4 lb lmb but other then that I get very discouraged out there. So any help would be greatly appriciated. I'm trying to become a better fisherman. All the advise I've gotten here before has really helped me out so I'm looking for some more good advise.

It all depends on the size of your jon boat. I have a 17ft Nitro and some days I don't even come out of the creeks. I don't like messing around out on the Potomac unless the water is calm and will remain calm until I can get back to a smaller body. I was stuck out on the Potomac around bouie 33 during a h*ll of a storm and trust me its no fun. The wind brought abot 3-5ft waves coming over the top of the boat and it takes alot for me to worry but I was. Just becareful if you go and good luck, make sure ALL of your equipment is up to date!!!

I was told that there are Wednesday night tournaments on the Potomac luanching out of leeslyvania state park. If anyone has any contact information or anything about the club please let me know. I was told they start today but I have no one I can contact about the tournaments. So if you can help me please do. Thank You

I went out on Aquia Creek Monday May 5 and Tuesday May 6. Monday we luanched out at first lite went striaght to the grass bed and we had a terrific day. About 615am we started to catch them and about 10 am it slowed down a little. But all in all we probably caught about 25 good keepers. It has been a little while since I have caught that many fish let alone good size keepers. Then Tuesday we went out about 1pm and we had a good day again we caught about 15 bass maybe 2 keepers but I was still happy with the progress I have made. Where were you fishing Vekol?

I did on my disposible camera, unfortunately I left my cell phone at home so I couldn't get a pic up online. I didn't think I would do nearly as well as I did due to the conditions. But they are definately hitting!!!!

Just an update for anyone who fishes Germantown Lake; I was out on Friday and it took me a little while to figure out the fish but once I did it was game on! They are biting on 8" chartruese lizards. The biggest I cuaght was 5.4lbs. They are up in the shallows where the creek runs in from. just outside of the weeds.

The best way I have found to stop your line from getting tangled up is by taking the spool off the reel itself once you have filled it full of line and put it into a pot of boiling water for about 30 seconds and then take it out and let it cool until you can pick it up with your bare hands. That way it loses it's memory from the original spoll and grasps the memory of the spool on the reel. Trust me it works on ALL line no matter what size

Where is the best place to catch shad? I have been wanting to go after them to have some good catfish bait but I have never known where to fish or what to use.

Has anyone started using topwater lures yet? I havn't been out on the river since last Friday and I was wondering if the topwater bite has started yet? The last time I was out the bass were slapping the top but I could never get any to bite on a buzzbait, spook, or a popper. So can anyone tell me?

Money is starting to really get tight with all the tournaments to be fished and all the prefishing. I live about 45min to an hour away from the closest river and I drive a diesal truck. Just last week both my truck and my boat were on empty and it costed me $250.00 to fill up. So I am starting to just wait it out until the weather is just right and I can feel confident I'll actually do some good.

Ron, Thanks but I usually leave the river by 3pm since I have to travel about an hour to get home. But once it gets a little warmer and the topwater bite starts hitting I will start staying a bit later. I try to start out at dawn, and stay as long as I can take the frustration. If your ever out in Aquia I have an older model 17' Green Nitro. I would like to fish Mattowoman but the water is usually so rough it would beat the crap out of my little boat trying to get there from Aquia and not to mention with my 115hp it would take a while.

Has anyone tried to catch any catfish on this lake at night so far in 2008? I fished it last year during the night quite a bit but I didn't catch many. And the ones I caught were small. If anyone can give me some advice I'm all ears.

I have met several people out of hope Springs where I usually put my boat in. And I've also come in contact with a lot of totally rude people. I usually go out by myself and I will probably be out mon and tues by myself also so if any one wants to go let me know, I really need so help in fishing this river I want to think I have tried everything but I still cannot do any good PM me or post. Yes I do have a boat and yes it is a Nitro. It aint a brand new one but it works for me. But when are you availible to go? The last time I was out there they had not started to spawn yet but hopefully by monday they will be. I will probably be going out there then.

I have been catching alot of bass out on the Potomac with a green rat-l-trap with an orange belly. Especially when the water is murky.
