BIG BAIT, BIG FISH
I would have to agree with the majority of ya'll, however the largest bass I have ever caught in my life was a 10.7 lb. LMB. I caught it on a purple/black 4" renegade worm t-rigged. I even caught it on a small 5ft. cheap-o rod from good ole wally world. And like some of the others I have caught fish that were half the size of the bait also.

Looking for Good Areas to Fish
I have off all week this week and I am looking forward to spend every minute out on ANY body of water that is a decent fishery. I usually fish the Potomac but I am quite tired of not catching big bass. I want to catch a big bass I haven't been able to catch anything over 5 lbs. this year. I want a good place where I can put my 17' Nitro in. I don't care if it is a lake where you can only use a trolling motor I just want to catch some bass. So any suggestions would be great!!! I just want to have a fun week off. And if anyone wants to go with me I'm sure I will have a spare seat on my boat. Thank You ahead of time for any info you can provide me!!!

Well with fishing the occaquan rez, instead of Fountian head, can you use a big motor there?? I want to find a good place to fish that I can use my motor. I have been fishing the Potomac alot but I like a variety. I like big bodies of water and I would like to catch a big fish bigger then 5 pounds, Im about sick and tired of catching small one haha

Fountain Head
What type of battery did he get? I need some good ones so I can fish all day instead of just a half day worth.

Fountain Head
Thats no good!!! I have been having problems trying to use just my trolling motor in many lake close by to my house. My batteries die 2 quick and with the high gas prices its hard to go out and buy new ones!

Fountain Head
Ron, You say that a 9.9hp is the biggest motor allowed but I have a 115 on my boat can I still use it to get from place to place if I don't cause a wake? Like driving as slow as possible?

Fountain Head
I hear all this talk about how great Fountain Head is, but I do not even know where it is? Can someone please tell me a little bit about this body of water, like where it is, how the fishing is, and what types of fish are in it. Thank You I live in Remington, Va and I dont want to travel too far to fish but if the fishing will be worth it then I will definatley give it a try. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And if someone wants to take me up there and show me around that would even be better!!! PM me if you are willing to.

Anyone in Remington, Va
I was checking out the old forums and I came across this one... I live in Remington,Va and guess what.... I have internet lol. But if you're looking for great smallie action the Rapp is a great place. And like the other guys on here I wouldn't advise wading. I went one time wading last year and snakes were everywhere. Now I hate snakes like crazy, pretty much everytime we would walk farther downstream we would run across more snakes I think all in all we saw about 30 snakes in a 2 hour time period. The only reason we stayed that long is because a buudy of mine that I went with wasn't scared of snakes. But minus all the snakes we had a blast. We must have caught over 80 smallies. None were that ig but it was fun. Now when I was younger I was in the boy scouts and we rented canoes for a whole weekend. We went all the way from Remington to Summerduck which ended up being about a 3 hour canoe ride. We fished the whole time and that was so much fun. I do not remember the place where we pulled the canoes out of the water but we camped there that night and the next day we took the canoes back up the road to Remington and did it all over again. I need to go out there and try it again. This time of year is the best to go.

I Feel Horrible :(
Well my suggestion to you is to buy you a GOOD pair of wire cutters. I know that not all the wire cutters can cut a treble hook. If nothing else have a pair of needle nose pliers and also buy a strong pair of wire cutters for incidents just like that. If you own a boat after you have cut the hooks from the bass put some rejuvinate in your livewell, it is a product yu can order from basspro to help the bass heal it's wounds. That should help you out alot. But if you cannot keep the bass alive at all, never just throw it back in the water, eat it or find someone that would want it. I'm sure if you talk to many people on this forum they would be more then happy to eat it if you dont want it.

Motor Question
It all depends on you. If your a finesse fisherman then yea it should be fine. But if you like to power fish and move from place to place I would look into a small gas motor. Just my 2cents

Motor Question
My best advise to you is not to buy it. You shouldn't have to ask questions about a boat that is good enough for you. I am only speaking from experience. I bought 2 POS boats. trust me, looking for boats is a long drawn out task if you're not going to buy a brand new one. If there is anything wrong with the boat I wouldn't even think about it, just like the "Way2slo" said. Walk away. Think about how much fun are you going to have if you are always working on the boat and not out there on the lake/river? I got lucky and bought an older model Nitro bass boat last year. I looked at it for a long time but the thing that sold me was the guy who originally bought was older and he was crippled and couldn't fish. When I first looked at the boat it had been inside a garage since 1995 and only used about 3-5 times. The carpet looked new and the upholstery was in mint condition. Its the little things that will show you how well the previous owner took care of the boat. Well good luck on getting the boat you want.

Wildest Thing?
About 3 weeks ago I was out on the river and my buddy noticed about a 3-3.5 ft black snake swimming across the water. We hadn't been able to catch anything that day but as we watch the snake a hawg bass came up and grabbed the snake. I looked at my buddy in shock! Not a second went by and the snake was back on top of the water hualing a$$ to the shore when the bass slammed him again. I thought for sure the snake would be done but the snake got back up and got to the shore. It was with out a doubt the coolest thing I had seen out on the river in a long time!

Educate Me PLEASE! Lilly pads, & shallow muddy water.
My thought exactly!!! Try WHITE spinnerbaits! Trust me on this one!

Please diagnose this
It could be many things. Maybe the color wasn't the one Mr. Bass wanted. But either way I wouldn't have quit working the lure no matter what. Have you ever just quit working the lure when you were fishing a depth where you couldnt see the bass? I haven't. I always work the bait the way it should be worked and if the fish doesn't want it then you have to give another bait a try if the fish shows any interest in the bait you need to change colors to appeal to the bass. Dont give up just because a bass doesn't act like he wants it. keep trying all different kinds of baits. You will catch him!! Good Luck!!!

How often to you accidently kill a bass??
I have killed to many to even say. It took me a long time to really think about why I was killing them. I have hooked several with a jig-n-pig in the belly and that really sucks. But here recently the more I have been out fishing the more respect I have gained for Mr. Bass. To this day if I have a bleeding fish I will put it in the livewell until I am completely done fishing and if it is still alive I hope it survives but if he's floating I take it home and eat it. If I have a bass that has swallowed the hook I usually cut the hook in half and get the hook out that way so the fish will survive. There are to many people that take the fish home even if it is not in any risk of dying. To me that makes the sport of fishing more difficult for the new bass fisherman out there. But in a way it also make you a better fisherman for those private lakes that gets hardly any lures thrown in it. Thats just my 2 cents.

Potomac
Hey how has the fishing been on the Potomac with-in the last couple of days? I haven't been out much due to the weather and of course all the good days I had to work. I plan on going out Tuesday if the weatehr permits so any help on the change in pattern would be great thanks!

Baby Brush Hogs
For lily pads, I would throw a frog ,like the new yum topwater baits. they are awesome. They move alot of water and attract bass from a good distance with the splashing. Or you could just try a popper, try walking the dog, or a buzzbait depending on the amount of pads, try a floating worm. You are not limited to anything but I'm sure you know that the bass will tell you what they want the most!!

Baby Brush Hogs
The best bait in my opinion for lily pads is a WHITE spinnerbait make sure you use a white one. No matter the color of the water. Use a large spinnerbait that moves lots of water. and dont throw it into the pads (you will get hung up big time trust me haha) throw it along the outside the flash and the water movement will attract the bass. If that doesn't work well for you try pitching/ flipping a senko. Good Luck to you.

Backing off Drags
I have been fishing for over 10 years and this is the first i have heard of anyone talking about loosening the drag after fishing. I have never changed my drag even for winter storage. But I think I will start that now. I usually only fish cheaper reels, but I just recently bought a nice quantum reel, it was so expensive that maybe loosening the drag will give it a prolonged life. Thanks for making me think.
