1. Get to the service dept for your reel and order the parts. I usually double my order when I order parts. I feel if it can happen once it can happen again. I did this order once on a quantum Bill Dance bait caster and I ordered the assembly kit and received the kit and seperate extra parts. Just for ha, ha' s I ordered a out board ball bearing to replace the bushing bearing on the spool and it went right in. I measured it from a newer reel. Just a little upgrade for an older model New reel I purchased at a discount place. Sometimes I wish the reel manufacturers would offer a small parts kit with springs, gears and parts they know will wear out if they do any life testing on there reels in there R&D lab during there development. At my last engineering job we life tested everything. We designed equipment to last with regular standard maintence.
2. I went for the first injection on my left side were most of the pain was and the sharp pains going down my left leg are gone. Yesterday I got juiced up again on my right lower back which the procedure was more painful but I'm feeling better as the injection is working. I know this isn't the cure but it's a bandaid to get me fishing now. I have this awesome back brace too. I'm not sure how long the injection will last.
3. First if you don't have a boat that's ok I don't too for now. Say to your self you don't need a boat to catch fish. Now repeat it often. My point is do not focus and defeat / beat yourself up over not having a boat. We need to fish and be successful before you get a boat. I'm going to cover somethings. Others are welcome to add there knowledge too. What you have to do to start off catching bass. 1. SPINNERBAITS (shore fishing) WEIGHT mini 1/8oz. 3/16oz. or 1/4oz. Colorado blades gold COLORS BLUE GLIMMER and or HOT CHARTRUESE SKIRTS TRAILERS mister twister 4" split double tail grub Blue glimmer skirt gets a white trailer. Hot chartreuse skirt gets a chartreuse trailer. TRAILER HOOK SIZE. 2/0 Now the grub trailer must be trimmed on the grub body length to fit the 1/8oz and 3/16oz spinnerbaits. The grub body fits the 1/4oz spinner bait. Make sure you install the split double tail grub exactly on the centerline of the spinner bait. It's a learning process on setting up your first spinner bait. Make notes as you go and how you set it up and the changes you make. I find the gold single or dual Colorado blades seem to cover most water conditions I have here and work better in shore fishing. Some twin blade spinnerbaits May have one Colorado and one Indiana blade. That's ok too. Tweaking or tuning up a spinner bait. I have taken a 3/16oz single gold #2 Colorado blade and up sized it to a #3 Colorado gold blade. This was my very first successful fish catching spinner bait using the blue glimmer skirt with the MT 4" split double tail grub as a trailer with a 2/0 trailer hook. It worked so good on my last cast a giant pickerel came parallel to the shoreline out of the water to rip it off my line as I went to pull it out of the water. I was in shock and froze while watching him shake his head as he ripped it off my line at will. I was having my best day ever catching fish with a spinner bait. I was mad like Iron Mike Tyson when I seen my spinner bait gone at first. But I realized I got the setup right. PRESENTATION is the key too. I cast it out with a side cast so it hits the water softly but doesn't slam the water very hard so I don't spook the fish. Then I reel it just fast enough to make the blade spin and make the tails on the split double tail grub swim and look real. SCENTS I give the trailer on the spinner bait one shot of bass attractant. I use the smaller sized spinnerbaits more in the shallows and over the submerged weeds and along side the open water along the weed lines. Also up the Rocky points and across them. I like to fan cast across the Rocky points with spinnerbaits and jigs too. I find casting a lure straight down a rocky point into the deeper water can be successful too. But the lure speed is the key to success. Not too fast and not too slow. These two colors I find is a good starting point. Hope this helps. In clear or stained water watch behind your spinnerbait to see the action. The hot chartreuse kind of glows in the water. I finding in using the smaller spinnerbaits from shore gives me the knowledge on how to set them up and use them.
4. I been using the smaller 1/8, 3/16, & 1/4 ounce spinnerbaits installing the blue glimmer or hot chartreuse shirts with a trimmed mister twister 4" split double tail grub for added bulk width wise. This trailer with a 2/0 trailer hook rocks. The mini spinnerbaits are great from shore.
5. When camping nothing is better than fresh caught fish on an open wood fire nothing. Cats taste awesome that white meat of the catfish is great.
6. The crappie guys use a mister twister 1" chartreuse grub with a rattle bobber. It seems to catch everything. Mepps inline spinners, panther martin spinflys and joesfly. With joesfly match the hatch or close use blackgnat when in doubt.
7. I change my copolymer line right before fishing season. Then I put it between two fingers and check for abrasions regularly. I'm not sure if it's the water conditions but I find some bodies of water can be harder on line than other places are? One place is in a jet flight take off path. I have braid on two setups that feels very dry. I don't use them much. One braid setup gets used for my portable hummingbird fish finder for casting out the pod. As needed. Fishing line is a consumable. It's probably the most consumable thing we use. Meaning we use it, wear it out and replace it. Consumable. Just like welding rod. Lures are consumables too but we don't lose them that often. I have welding rod that's $300+ for ten pounds. I can run through 50 pounds of rod on an average day when I was running rod on big structures. I'm happy fishing line is cheaper.
8. I been using Excalibur silver thread copolymer for well over a decade now. I use ball bearing locking snap swivels too. Enuff said never had a problem yet.
9. I have a 48" long beaver do that to me all the time. He wants me to leave but I stay there. He ran by me onetime on the ground that's how I know how long he is.
10. From being a car mechanic in my younger days and working under dash boards I had no choice to become amberdexterious. I use a left hand spinning reel but a right and left hand on my bait casters.
11. On your topwater lures are you adding a scent to your lures? Topwater, top props, spooks, torpedoes, mister twister top prop. Cranks, bomber, redapplecraw, dark green craw, baby bass orange bottom, shad, from shore the 0-3' are ok. Rebel BIG CLAW crawfish crank chartreuse, rapala f7 orginal floater in blue or black. I try to keep my shallow running cranks around 2" long when I can. I use brushogs on my 1/8oz Carolina rig with a eagle claw weedless hook. I try to use weedless hooks on everything.
12. I been out there before with a boat rod with a roller tip and a Penn 49m reel but I'm not sure if modern braid would be better than mono or copolymer. A lot has changed since I been out there. I just picked up these awesome Penn deep sea fishing reels really cheap too.
13. We drive to RI so it's less of a boat ride to go deep sea fishing in the ocean. I just picked up a PENN 49m and two PENN master marnia 349 deep sea fishing reels. I haven't been deep sea fishing in decades. I'm not sure what brand of line or line test or mono or braid to use??? Does anyone here go deep sea fishing for cod, blues, stripers and Pollack?
14. I could fish with any fishing rod that's cheap or expensive at first. Now fishing rod actions and tapers are so refined and tuned for using certain lures now. I'm finding out one rod can't do it all. I feel the rod manufacturers are doing the work and selecting for us. They tell us we use this rod for this bait. The only choices we have is do we want a one piece rod and what length. When we define it more it's what action and taper? It can be confusing to someone that's new too bass fishing. I remember the day the ultra lites first were the hot ticket to have for trout. We didn't have the selection we have now. A medium action would cover most fishing. Now it's how much do you have to spend. I been fishing with $3 to $5 discounted older stock fishing rods all my life. I was happy to have a fishing rod. Now I'm up to the better $100 rods on sale for $50. Little by little I'm seeing the difference between the price and quality.
15. I use the eagle claw weedless hooks on most of my plastics. I think it's the #449 eagle claw needless. I go larger in size like 2/0 & 3/0 on the senko and larger on the bigger body bushogs. The bigger hook the better chance on a hook set.
16. What are the best producing brands do you use? 1. FROGS? The best all around Plastic colors? Green pumpkin? I want to try different lures, colors and presentations. I have this new whizz bang high tech back brace to try out I figured I'd go fishing. It's got two Velcro pull start loops. It feels awesome support wise.
17. I had a 13" pickerel grab a 12" black shad colored culprit worm by the head were the hook was. I was reeling it in as he took a shot at it. Then a bass hit my live bait night crawler as I reeled it in. Seeing this told me the fish wanted something moving. We both put on mepps spinners and or bass fishing with lures started.
18. What color was it? I can't look if I'm not sure of the color you lost. My magnum soft sided is full of lures I haven't seen in more than a decade. If I have one I'll send it to you.
19. I hear something similair to wind chimes coming from to deep woods. There are no houses near me. I'm fishing off a low bridge in a channel when I hear branches being moved at my car that's 100' away. I'm on the road with guard rails on both sides with no where to go. I'm in the dark at 4:am. I stood my ground and fished till dawn. There was a bear sighting not far away from me. Bears are very noisy when they think there alone. I spilled some bass attracting on the bumper of my car and inside the hatch. I spilled obstinate garlic scent. My car smelled like an Italian salad. I hear bear hoots at night there too. Bears hoot because they can't call 1-800-collect. It's there way to talk to other bears. It's three short hoots and one long hoot at the end. If you listen closely you will hear the direction of the first hoot then the answer hoot will come from a distant direction. On another trip I heard tree knocking. Early in the morning. Again the first tree knock and another one from a different direction. Bigfoot? Never seen what it was. At my camp in vt. My first experience was while cooking my bacon cheese burgers in the wilds of the green mountains. The screams we heard were so loud and intense like someone being skinned alive. This was the middle of October. In the third week in November it was back after I cooked my bacon cheeseburgers again. I contacted the BFRO BIGFOOT researchers and they sent up a local rep to investigate it. He found Bigfoot beds up on the mountain above my camp. I'm watched day and night while on my land. It follows us in and out of the woods when we hike. Next time I'll make some cheeseburgers for him too. I'm not afraid. At home I have a 359#/400# black bear on my property. As long as it doesn't grab me. Now when I was logging in the winter time I seen something move through the air like predator. From one stone wall across the dirt road to the stone wall on the other side. This went on for a few days while I was logging there. I asked my buddy who is the forest ranger what's going on up there and why didn't the first logger there finish his job? He told me to walk up the hill there till I see the many piles of rocks there because they think there graves, very old Indian graves. I found them and they covered the hill side. I stayed away from them and finished my cut. I found out this area did have an Indian tribe.
20. I'm very insulting when I'm fishing. I'm in my own zone, I got my own zipcode, when I'm alone. I don't talk to anyone. I'm thinking fishing that's it. Me and the fish. Unless my family is with me or there are little kids with there dad then I may help them. I go out of my way to help others when I can to promote this sport. I help others while evening fishing. In the early mornings I'm in my zone.
21. Smokey and the bandit, the country singer truck driver I seen him on Bill Dance. Charlie Moore has the red Sox and Bruins hockey guys on time to time. If I can get my back fixed I'd like to challenge Charlie on my home turf.
22.
Does anyone use this awesome quality spinning reel?

23. I would go with a hot chartreuse skirt with a 4" split double tail grub trailer in chartreuse from mister twister.
24. I figured this out already. I'd have to lie about where I caught it. Otherwise my smaller places would be so crowded they would shut them down. I weigh in all my bigger bass at a local deli. On his state certified scales. There adjusted by the state standards weights and measures. My last bigger bass was 6# 1oz. Exactly. My only problem the other fisherman in the store wanted the info about where and how I caught her. This bass gave me the best fight ever. She gave my topnocker a tour of the open water. She covered every square foot of the place. I didn't think she was going to tire out. I do not tell anyone where I'm fishing too. They beg me too. I told my so called buddy. He told everyone. I told my son's buddy and he told everyone. Thank God this one place is so hard to catch fish you would swear there are no fish in it. If you bass guys here went there you would catch fish. We really have very few good bass fisherman here.
25. Ditto what they above said,,,,,5:1 - 1 ratio. Any 5 ratio will do when I want to chill out and go slower. The 6:3 spinning reel tires me out. I bought it for burning spinnerbaits but I didn't tell the fish.
