After we moved to the new place in the country built in 1957 I woke up one night to an old lady standing next to my bed. She was smiling at me. I said go away as I pulled the covers over my head. I see shadows often, dark shadows moving around the house. I seen a little boy peeking at me from the closet do it. I don't tell the wife anything not to scare her. The dog acts strange sometimes looking at something I can't se Now the freaky thing is I get touched all the time. Sometimes it's a pointed finger tip and others it's a finger laying on its side. I'm laying in bed and it touches my foot but there's nothing there. I'm not afraid of nothing on this earth. Nothing scares me. I've been to one of the most haunted places on the earth and seen fresh cloven hoof tracks in the snow. No biggie. If it appears well do the dance him with his pitchfork and me with my 41. At this place with many empty foundations and forest I left a recorder running as we entered. I had 400film in the camera. I caught many orbs around us as I took pictures. The camera even went off by itself sometimes without me touching it. On the voice recorder I caught a twang noise like a bow string. There were no birds sounds, no sign of deer tracks too nothing throughout the whole town. Something called my dog a few times from a hill top as we left many times. The next trip we lost the dog. It heard something and ran off. As we went to leave it showed up and was run ragged. The next trip my neighbor with his camcorder came. He shut it off and it turned back on by itself. Again something called the dog from up in a large tree. Many times the dog ran back to the tree as we left. We caught something moving thru the air on the camcorder. They closed the place now so the public can't go there. Search for dudleytown in ct. They try to down play it on some posts but it's real it's no joke. I wish I could do more research there. I believe the devil worshipers went there with there wee-jee boards and opened up portholes into our present day and left them open. The ghost hunters the warrens said it's a very evil place and don't go there. Listen to your dog, learn the different tone of its barks. Watch we're its looking. Watch how it's reacting. Read your dog it's telling you something is wrong. The dog has body English too.

If you ever come to the northeast and I can get out and get there count me in otherwise I'm stuck here.

I made the mistake of taking two of my buddies, so called friends to one of my favorite honey holes now it's crowded.

My favorite fishing spots and lure training ground is fishing from the roads were man made dams were built over 200 years ago for water power. It's like standing up in a boat I have a view of the whole place. I wear polarized glasses so I see the short strike flashes behind my lures. I love testing new patterns with different lures. Seeing the weeds and the submerged pockets is we're I stop my cranks and do a river dance with my rod tip to call the bass up for din-din. This is how I seen the hogs hit my lure and go deep in the weeds. I lost a few new state records this way too along with some lures. Sometimes my long casts are my downfall with losses. But now my rod setups are longer and stronger plus my line test for topwater lures is stronger too. I should be able to turn there heads much faster and stronger now. I have learned through the last decade+ fishing from shore can be successful if we fish it right. Where we cast and how we cast is very important. Most of my smaller places are brush free so I can cast 180 degrees. I cast parallel to the shoreline too. I stay 2 to 3' from shore. My PB of 10# was caught 2' from shore as I casted parallel to the shoreline off a low bridge and brought my lure from the shoreline into the open channel she hit it. I find the channel areas along side the weedlines rock in any body of water. But it's being stealthy that matters the most, no noise. If you stand still and listen that's all the noise you should hear. My whole trip is libruary/church QUIET. I make no noise walking up to my spot, putting my rods and tackle boxes down. I clear my throat on the way there in the car. I seen a big wake from a big bass going away one morning as I cleared my throat. Make no noise, keep your noise footprint at zero minus. Nada, nothing. Just the birds chirping. In the dark as the sky starts to light up when we do it right we will see freshwater otters first. Then the deer will show up with their fawns to get a drink. If your quiet you will see wild America at its finest right in your own back yard.

I bring when were on the lake some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches easy one handers to eat. Or some salami & cheese which could end up as bait on a slow day. The panfish May like a visit to an Italian deli? My question is why when the sandwich tastes so great is when I get a strike? I usually time eating when I'm Carolina rig worming.

But what I'm trying to say if bass can see lure colors than line color matters too. If I'm fishing a small unfished pond which I have. My fishing foot print on the water needs to be very small. The more I blend in to the natural surroundings the better off I am. I use clear, green or Cajun red for a reason it blends into the water conditions. The fish aren't spooked by it. My cats are predators like the bass are if I add one thing New inside the house my cats will pick it out right away. Now your invading the basses home don't you think it knows your there. Think about it. The more invisible we are the better. Heavy test line. I was catching bass like a pro on 6#, 8#, test. From shore? When I bumped up to 12#, 14# & 17# test I caught less fish. Seeing this I switched back and the bite was on again. The fish are line test sensitive. The big bass aren't dumb or stupid. If they weren't smart they would never be that big.

I'm starting off this year with the most expensive fishing equipment I have ever purchased. I have all LEWS spinning rods with US Reel Super Caster spinning reels. I have casting rod setups with US Reel Super Caster baitcaster reels on $50 to $100 rods. I have a mix of different bait casting reels too. So now we will see if the more expensive equipment ups my game.

Bass can see colors, which certain colors can be limited at times with lure colors. Yet I have seen bass on a frenzy so bad any color works but even a large bare hook might work too. Seeing and understanding the colors of lures why not having the line color influence the bass too? It seems correct to me between Dr Loren hills tests with different colors with bass why not line color too?

My saying is fact; It's not luck in fishing, the luck at the casino, it's skill in catching fish. A tough of fishing is still better than a good day at work. I'd rather be fishing than sitting on my easy chair watching fishing shows, maybe unless it's Hank Parker, Jimmy Houston, Bill Dance, fisherman guys, dime store fisherman, Jerry Mckinnis. Charlie the mad fisherman too.

I been using five rod setups from shore. The longer rods to cast out farther with heavier line test for topwater action, carolina rig rod heavier line test, crankbait rod setup, spinnerbaits rod med act 6', & light/med act setup for smaller spin fly &inline spinner. Choosing the correct line test is a factor for the best lure action.

I purchased last fall all new fishing equipment. This time I bumped up to a little better quality rods and reels. I have all LEWS rods and US super caster spinning and bait casting reels. I'm very interested on how much farther I can cast from shore now into the Lilly pads. I just need that extra 25' and I'm golden. Time will tell. The extra 25' will put me in lunker city for sure. That's were these record breaking gals are hiding just out of reach where they think it's safe. "R" "U" RED. DEE for the 2014 season yet? I'm not looking forward to those mornings of getting up at 3:30am and going fishing but once I'm in the groove the thoughts of breaking the state record for LMB will keep me going.

Remember Dr. LOREN HILL of Ok unv. During his tests on the development of the color & combo "c" lector proved the bass can see certain colors sometimes and all the colors sometimes depending on the hues in the water, the sunlite and time of day that influences the water conditions. He used different colored buckets. One color had feed where the other bucket had nothing. When he dropped the feed colored bucket the came to feed. When he dropped the empty colored bucket they didn't come. Then he dropped the feed colored bucket they came. This told him under lab tests and conditions the bass can see different colors. I use either clear or green copolymer line. But I do use a Cajun red line for my leaders on my Carolina rigs. Yes I know in deeper depths the red line doesn't disappear. But I'm shore fishing at 10' of water. The best fishing times for me is in the early mornings, midday, and evenings. But I did my tests in the mid morning in the same exact spot at that the same exact time. On blueberry days I got lucky I had the same test conditions for a few days. The combo c lector chose red only red cranks worked. I through every color then went back to red and caught fish again. Another day only Brown worked, another day green only worked. Inbetween those days I had days were the brown, the green and the red all caught fish at the same time and day. This proves Dr Loren Hill was correct. The bass can see certain colors on certain days and more colors on other days. But when the colors are limited or when all colors that are seen one color could out produce the other colors. It's figuring out that sweet spot color for that time of day and water conditions. All I can add is take notes in your log book. Remember on a tough day, an overcast day, a light rain day that a chartreuse color is your friend. Try a inline spinner like joesfly in firetiger apache or glo-tiger. Then ask me if color matters. Now we covered lure color and what influences the colors that bass can see. We established that bass can see different colors at certain times and sometimes not. So line color does it matter. I try to use a natural colored line as I can get. I have noticed when I switched from 8# test to a stronger 12# test my bite slowed up. The lines were both clear. I think since I'm fishing smaller very quiet places the fish are very aware and sensitive to changes in vibrations and harmonics of the larger line. It's the only thing that I could think of why my bite was off. The smaller lighter test line is more shuttle. I had a cheap noisy spinning reel. I'm fishing a three acre pond that's deep in the woods. There is no outside noises. I casted my lure to the center. As I'm reeling it in a sunfish was tilted sideways at the point where my line entered the water. I'm thinking he is feeling the vibration from my worn out reel. This tells me in quiet eco systems anything out of the ordinary can trigger a warning to the fish. My line is like a guitar string as it sends vibrations into the water. In the smaller unfished quiet ponds. We must be very stealthy. Ok they can see colors. They can feel the vibrations from the heavier test lines. Does line color and line size matter? I'm no pro nor will ever be. I just wanted to know why a fishing spot can be hot one minute and ice cold the next. I think it's all about color. If it was easy it wouldn't be called fishing. It's skill in fishing not luck. We are in charge of our success in fishing by using our skills. Do not leave your skills at home. On a tough day "think" about your next move. Never give up. Walk softly, be quiet when handling your tackle, be stealthy. For you little guys and gals practice putting your tackle boxes down quietly at home. Remember to keep your tackle box organized so you can find lures easily when your fishing in the dark Keep the glare of your flash lite low too. Do not sound any alarm that your there be very quiet and stealthy.

We pack P&J sandwiches some slim Jim's, we get egg/bacon fresh sandwiches on the way to fishing. The usual morning coffee and soda to drink. But lately I drink more coffee and water. Being a diabetic I bring chocolate just incase or regular soda if my sugar goes too low. I like the p&j so I can hold them in my hand by the wrapper. The slim Jim's too. I'm going to fish very hard this season. Bill Before the season begins a new can of bug spray goes in a plastic bag in my tackle box.

I'm a tackle hoarder, a tackle junkie, a man hooked on fishing equipment. But a man who could fish for any species in my area in a minutes notice. I could lose my two stuffed tackle boxes and still be able to refill it three times over maybe more with what I have in-house. I have large boxes filled with bomber cranks, Norman cranks, plastics etc. I take my fishing very seriously. My tackle room is so stuffed I can just about walk in there. I drop 2k+ in a heart beat in a month on new tackle and equipment. There opening up a never fished water shed soon here for fishing. It's minutes from my house. I'm ready to go. I fill my kids tackle boxes too.

Great, Awesome news Stitch I told you we would make it while the path wasn't on a paved road we both did make it to our goals. My blood test cancer rating went from 8.0 PSA/Gleason score before radiation to 0.2 after radiation to 0.04 this past week. We're going to make it stitch we did it with the help from our forum members here and there prayers and support. I still have back pain that comes and goes but I had it for years. Just waiting a few weeks now for that first few casts to see how these new US Reel super caster spinning reels workout. If I can get 25' farther out from shore I'm golden. I need a row boat, a new Harley, a new cabin at my camp. I have a lot of fishing and hunting to catch up on besides riding. Life is good finally. I'm going to fish 24/7, that new state record has been on my line twice now the third time is the charm. I'm not rich money wise but I'm rich when it comes to support from my family and the support from you gals and guys here. My support group couldn't get any better. In fishing in ct too I stay with the redcraw pattern in my cranks because the crawfish are reddish in color. Where matching the color of the natural food they prey upon. The Bomber redapplecraw is one of my hottest cranks. To me size matters when it comes to the length of our cranks. It seems for me the 1 3/4 to 2 1/8" lures seem to work better for me. I prefer 2" long lures. But I find that chartreuse can be as hot as red can be too under certain conditions. I carry bomber cranks in all colors.

From my hottest crankbaits to my hottest senko, stik o worm colors why do they sell out to the point they end up being discontinued? I tried the Amber flake stik o worms from BPS and they are the hottest color in my area. I no longer see this color and flake combination being offered. Even the senko brand no longer offers this hot color. Why?

That's what I'm talking about. It's the eyes lit up and the smile of joy of catching that fish. My grandson was over the house after we bonded looking on the net at toys and he has respect for grandpa now. I need to breakout the fishing cataloges next. Once I get him hooked on looking at fishing cataloges a trip to ducks sporting goods is next he needs a tackle box. He watches videos when it's nap time. I'll slip in some educational fishing videos. If he shows a strong interest in fishing maybe we'll have a young tornie fisherman. I'll give him the equipment and some education and the rest is up to him. It's time on the water.

When we have a great day of fishing or some awesome days in a row. My question is do you tend to purchase more fishing tackle at this happy, happy time? I can't be alone. I tend to purchase more tackle as my success continues. Just hoping my success will continue. What do you guys/gals do?

I can remember standing in the pouring rain at six years old in my yellow rain coat when my older brother my mentor took me fishing for the first time. He caught some Spanish and took them home and fried them up with eggs for breakfast. He taught me if you kill it you eat it. I let everything live for sure like animals. I taught my son's the same thing so they wouldn't kill anything with there BB guns. I told them only take what you need to eat from the land. And so far the local market has everything we need. Those good times with my brother I'll never forget about fishing with him. We were fishing a popular trout river here. We walked down the river bank and found a back wash off the main running water. My brother was up stream from me. All of a sudden a large trout came out of the water. I turned to my brother and said did you see that? My brother goes yup it's on my line. There was gravel in the shallows in front of us. He had the trout in these shallows up to him when the line let go. He panicked and went on the gravel on his hands and knees chasing this 21" rainbow trout. I never laughed so hard in my life. But he caught it in his hands. He never did break that record. I suggested mounting it but he insisted on eating it. I went hunting with him for pheasants too. I was too young for a shotgun. So I learned from him. As we walked into the forest there in the road I said there's a chicken. He said that's a pheasant. I said shoot it. He said it's n the ground and we can only shoot it in the air. Well we finally flushed it and he shot it. Again he ate it. Another time we were bear hunting. He would kid with me all the time when he seen a black tree trunk in the shadows in the woods he would say look there's a bear. This one day he was right. The bear was 30 yards from us. Then he said I own the camp up here so I should shoot it. I said you seen it first so you shoot it. Well he has the bear rug. Nothing got wasted. Even the left overs got recycled back to the forest. Everyone had bear meat at my camp. I'm glad I let him take the bear about 3 years later he passed away. His daughter has the rug now and is very proud of it. He passed away 19 years ago. He was an awesome sportsman, a great brother and mentor plus a good husband and good father to his daughters. I'll never forget him. I always think of him and his sporting ethics. I have to flush up pheasants. My point is take the time to mentor someone and you'll have a fishing and hunting partner for life. Make the time to give back. You can change a kids life forever.

I started talking to my 3 1/2 yo grandson about bass fishing. He stops me and asks when are we going fishing? Then I had to open my four stuffed tackle boxes and explain topwater poppers, zara spooks, propbaits to him first. Then we went through every other tackle box looking at colors, types of lures and every word I said he repeated back to me. We spent a lot of time bonding today. I believe we may have an up coming bass tongue fisherman. He liked the plastic frogs and mice lures. At his age he can pick up lures look at them and put them back without getting hooked. I explained to him to be extra careful. I think it's going to be an awesome summer of bass fishing with him. I got him a nice spin cast setup to start off with. I will week the lad on walking the dog with spooks first. For Christmas I gave him five remote control construction equipment vehicles. We got on the subject he needs a bigger dump truck. I put Amazon.com on my tablet and the young man is faster at finding stuff than I am. We sat for some time looking and talking about dump trucks. The lad loves quads he has two gas powdered little ones, dirtbikes, tractors(my farm tractors) and construction equipment. He operates my mower and snowflake with his dad. I figured I get the boy hooked on stuff at an early age. I watch him closely. He watches everything we do to start the machines. I hide all the keys now. I hope I'm around to see him fish tornies. I been saying my smaller spots hold bigger bass because there unfished I didn't have a pink rod too.

So it's not the size of the rod it's the color of the rod. Do I need different colored rods now? Do all women have an advantage with pink tackle? Seeing this will the price go up now on pink tackle. www. fish and save . com has plenty of pink rod setups.

I fished a shallow puddle after the heavy rains stopped and the high water levels left puddles in the trail near the waters edge. I dropped my line in the puddle when I seen movement n the water. I caught a 2 1/2" bass. I released it back into the river. I tried every puddle after that. That one little bass hit the lottery that day. I also fish in small bodies of water like mall drainage ponds(manmade). Swamps that can be first fished by me. The drainage ponds can hold up to 3lb bass. Funny I got my hands on the flying lure on clearance years ago. It worked awesome in the drainage pond. The drainage pond was near my wife's gym. She would feed the ducks bread. She told me there were fish eating the bread too. I first tried a panther Martin spin fly there. I caught every bass in the place. They were 6" to 8" average size. Every year I fished at least once there. Every year the bass were getting bigger. The last time I was there they were 3lbers.with the flying lure.

When I first read about using scents/attractants I decided to purchase a few different brands to see if one was better than the other. I found the orginal baitmate, crawdad, baitmate, worm/crawler baitmate, garlic baitmate all worked really well. I had the correct flavor for each type of lure. I started trying other scents too like bang, and most of the other brands. They all seem to work if you have fish near you. With running current scents seem to attract fish to you. Different flavors? I was using the baitmate orginal bass scent and it was a slow bite. This is one of my usual hot spots. When I switched to baitmate garlic scent the bite increased. This tells me to switch scent flavors too. With using senko's that are salted my first cast is with no scents. If I get strikes were the bass aren't committed and I miss them a shot of scent makes them hang on long enough on the next cast to set the hook. My rules are; 1 Wash your hands before going fishing. 2 Do not handle gasoline or oil before going fishing. 3 Pick the correct size and color lure. 4 If the lure has a rattle that's a plus 5 If we use a scent were masking any foul oders it may have. Use all the fishes natural predators senses, sight, sound, smell, vibration. When we use the correct size, color with the right presentation we catch fish. It's skill not luck in fishing. Btw; Tackle box oders can also effect your fishing. I wash my lures with a mild dish soap. My tackle boxes too. I make sure nothing has any foul oders. Do not be discouraged if you do all this and not catch fish. There might be no fish in that area. Now you left that area scented so let the scent travel and do its thing. I would fish another spot and comeback later. (Shore fishing isn't easy)
