I use nothing but copolymer way less stretch over plain mono. Excalibur Silver Thread Copolymer line has served me well for decades now. No one encounters more abrasions from the bottom, rocks than a shore fisherman.(me). I use other brands of copolymer line but use more Excalibur silver thread. They had a test of bending, abrasions on there website against other lines at that time and Excalibur excelled. The only difference between Excalibur silver thread and the other brands of copolymer line is I find the others are stiffer and hard to tie knots.

At a Freinds place they had a low water situation. The pond was maybe 3 acres. The beach section was exposed with many little craters in the sand they were bass nests. I found it to be very interesting. I think the water was about 4' low.

I regret not researching the $50 to $100 price range on fishing rods better. To see what's better. I think the best buy out there in this price range is the No.8 Tackle Blackout rods. I should of looked for reviews first on you tube. And checked the reviews here. I don't go by price. I look how the rod feels from the handle to the tip. Right now it's the blackout and the LEWS SPEED STICK, lews speed stick tournament rods. But we're all different in what rod action/power/taper we want. Before you pick on me I'm disabled and can't go to the store. I buy online. It's hard with the ratings all different. It says what I think I'm buying them it's totally a different feel.

When I used the Shakespeare, quantum, eagleclaw and Southend rods I never had this problem. It was either UL, L, MED, etc. No taper, no guessing today it's all different. I fished with two rod setups for decades. Then I got into different baits which needed different setups, topwater a stiffer rod, stronger line test, crankbaits a tad less stiffness, lighter line test. Jigs stiff rod strongest like test, c-rig less upper stiffness strongest line test with leader. The test of the leader, weight dictates the rate of fall. Light baits, small spinnerbaits, shorter rod, lighter test. I couldn't get by with one or two rods.

Two more No8 Tackle Blackout rods a med/hvy 6'6" casting rod and a blackout med/hvy 6'6" spinning rod. They do feel awesome.

I been searching for the perfect affordable quality spinning and casting rods. A little at a time I been looking to upgrade. The rods I been buying are good $100 rods but not what in exactly looking for. I found this company No.8 Tackle. My gut feeling was to try them. I purchased a No.8 Tackle Blackout Spinning rod 6'6" med for just $79 what a good quality rod I received. Do we have a section here for reviews?? By our own pros here. I needed a course in fishing rods for dummies. I never understood all this stuff. The more I look into it, the more I get confused. I find a med rod in one brand is stiffer than a M/H includes l another brand. We need the fishing police on this one. Thanks RW and guys for clearing some of this up.

I started out casting Penn saltwater reels long before baitcasters. My thumb has a PHD college degree. I need to sharpen my skills as well with the newer stuff. I had a how to video from years ago. I can do it now but need to practice for better pinpoint accuracy. Anyone who wants to learn just stick with it till it's achieved. I'm good with jigs with a casting setup that's all I use. I been casting the Penn open saltwater reels since I was 14yo. No brakes. I can use any casting reel. Anyone can adapt to anything if you willing to learn that's my point.

She just might learn quickly. I find the student turns out better than the teacher in most cases. If she's willing to learn teach her. Set the reel/rod up with a casting plug. Use your setup to teach her now. Once she gets the hang of it hit the water.

You are so correct. I purchased a large 6" glass perch CRANKBAIT on a closeout from one of the online bass shops. It has caught quite a few bass for me. Go big or go home (not really but the go big is true) right now there feeding prepping for the long winter. They want a bigger dinner with less effort. Lure speed is the key not too fast, go slow. I have like 20 muskie/pike lures custom painted in bass colors. In my soft tackle bag for pike I have all kinds of large minnow baits,bigger rapala, jointed big rapala, other brands in larger minnow baits. I'm gonna try them. I have larger pike inline spinners and monster spinnerbaits. It's time to put everything in the pool. Don't forget the pictures and tape measure in the picture. DONT FORGET TO SET THE HOOK HARD. I upgraded to rods that are stronger in the upper section. I can bury the hook on the hookset now it's more solid.. Sorry I get exceited when we talk bigger bass, fall fishing. Stay fishing till the ice is on.

I understand the multiple spawns. I want to learn what triggers the feeding frenzy phenomenon. Funny when it's on at one place every place is turned on. I caught 19 bass at one spot on the way home at another spot I caught two 3lb smallies which I never seen before and one 3lb large mouth. Then the heavy rain came I left. This was three casts three fish in a few minutes. I just wanted to see if the frenzy was there too.

Question in the springtime the bass migrate to the most northern part of the body of water due to it gets a longer sunlite on it for most of the daylite it's warmer there first. What happens in the fall when the water starts to cool off where's the warmest part of the water? Do the bass follow the PH too?
