I tried the U.S. REEL super caster spinning reel a few years back before I became ill. Using 8lb test I did cast farther than a standard size spool. Now my idea is can it cast farther with 14lb/17lb line. If it puts the 14/17lb test line as far as the 8lb test or farther with heavier lures I'm golden. I can toss baits well within the reach were no bait has been before. Private place only fished from the road. In the past I've lost probably four record breaking bass. I upgraded my rods, reels and line test.

The shocker works on big fish but the shocker doesn't work in deeper water so they shock in shallower water. I weed chopper in one of the lakes hit a 12 lb lmb. They killed it. Seeing this should of woke everyone up in ct we have big bass. Who knows what's in the waters.

I ran into talking with the electro shock boat guys on a ct bass sight. I'm seeing more big bass than anyone is catching. Even the electro shock guys aren't seeing them because the shocker doesn't go deep. It's a shallow working devise. I caught one 10lber, lost bigger, seen bigger swim by me at the drop off. No one believes ct has big bass. I push harder to say every state has bigger bass there not being caught. Congrats Eric

I'm amberdexterious, both arms are strong. Left or right hand no biggie. I see guys cast casting reels then switch hands(pros). Do what ever your comfortable doing. Seek your own nitch.

I shoulder holstered 5 1/2" & 7 1/2" barreled redhawks for years. I just purchased a shoulder holster for my ruger super Blackhawk 44mag with 10 1/2" barrel. The shorter barrels are easy to carry.

The experience we have from the sandbox is the 9mm round isn't a 1 or 2 shot stopper. It takes Manny rounds to disable a bad guy completely. This is really worse in a close quarter conflict. My choice is the 357mag, 41mag or 44mag. I have a CZ85DB with 20rds. I still prefer the Magnum. Most likely with one shot one bad guy is done. At the range I only shoot 25yds. When the 25yds shoot is over I go to 100yds just to remind me how much Kentucky Windage is needed to make pin point hits at the small rocks on the berm. Practice, practice, more practice. I was carrying redhawks in 44mag for most of my ccw life.

My new spinning reels showed up. The larger diameter spools are rated up to 16lb test. I'm thinking the stronger test line will come off the spools much easier and allow me to cast farther with heavier test line. I use 17lb test for jigs, c-rigs. I would like to use 14lb test for topwater. My question is do larger diameter spools and longer spools make a difference in casting heavier line. Does anyone do this here?

I use a cast out hummingbird fish finder to see the structure and depth. Plus if any fish are there. But mainly to see how to fish it. I see deeper holes, flats, droppoffs, shallows, transision areas too. Now I know what depth crank to throw where. I adjust my reel speed so the blade baits run deeper.

I been wondering if a weighted Carolina rig can be used with a shallower 15' running CRANKBAIT to fish it deeper?

That's my stash. Now I have 18 or so tackle boxes full of stuff with a Denny Bauer Magnum boat bag. I'm ready for a boat.

I was hoping this was a thumb saver. Lip grabbing all these bass are thumb feels like sandpaper.

I have about 15 of those large spinnerbait plastic boxes full of plastics. I have cardboard boxes full of plastics, cranks, line, etc. I don't think I'm gonna win.

Fresh, gutted, catfish on a charcoal/wood mix fire = tasty. Salt, lemon, plain they eat good.

The four of us were heading up a mountain trail. With little flashlights. In the pitch black dark we had a BlackBear on our left side and a bobcat or mountain lion on our right. They were growling at each other. They followed us all the way up the mountain to the Apple orchards. When daylite came it was quiet. On the way out at lunchtime the bear followed us growling at us all the way out. My brother was with us for the first time. Of course the tracks in the mud look bigger. He didn't come bear hunting the following year. I was carrying a marlin 444s. It will blow a hole through 3/8" boiler plate steel. No need to worry.

Well I maintain every mechanical piece of equipment. My 1973 D.A.M. Quick spinning reels still functions and looks like new. One is on its original Garcia five star rod. Back then the reel was $30 and the rod was $22. That was a lot of $$ back them. The paycheck was under $100. I bought this with my first income tax return. Take care of your equipment. I don't like being a throw away society.

The catfish hit this color too on the drop off as they move up it as it gets dark. In a few minutes we had hush puppies. Add a little bass scent to the inline. Not the hush puppies.

Mepps Anglia #3 Strike King #3 Joesfly 1/4oz bass size Panther Martin #4. Smaller ones work great in rivers. Remember when the action slows down to upsize. The bigger fish come in to see what's going on but won't hit the smaller size bait. I switch to a #4/#5 inline. In the evening as the bite is on and it slows down as it gets darker go to a brighter color inline you will land a few more bass.

GREAT tip.

I hate to do it but I let it go for many years now. I have boxes of new baits, fishing line, reels all over the place. I have never been this messy. I need a overhead rod rack. I made a 40rod rack but it's over flowing. Can we have too many rod setups. How much tackle do you keep on hand?

Stay trying them with different presentations. Speeds matter too. I find myself going too fast too sometimes.

I picked up two affordable hurricane inshore rods for tossing bigger heavier baits. These were about $9 each at fishnsave. One has braid and one copolymer line. The bigger reels can be found on sale too.

I have over 35 setups for all types of freshwater and saltwater fishing. I have shore fishing and boat fishing setups. They go from UL Trout to deep sea setups. Do you keep a maintenance log book on your reels? My setups cover panfishing, trout, white perch, catfish, lmb, smb, pickerel, pike, saltwater, stripers, blues, cod, Pollack, blackfish,

Take it all apart for a good cleaning and lubing anyway.
