Spinning Reels
I prefer less bearings in my spinning reels that i use with spinnerbaits. The spinning reels with more bearings(up to 10) plus the drag of the spinnerbait wears me out by the end of the trip. I like to use my four ball bearing fin nor ahab lite spinning reels on my spinnerbaits, inlines, crankbaits. I use the 10 ball bearing OKUMA exiptor and metaliod spinning reels with plastics, topwater, jigs etc.

Bass Fishing From Shore
Sometimes the points are submerged. Look for the shoreline making an arc or a round radious corner. The point should go out from there. The point can go wider under the water too. The smaller funnel shape starts at the shoreline and goes wider as it goes farther and deeper out. Sometimes next to these deeper holes on the sides can be found. Using a topwater bait popper or spook skip fan cast the whole funnel area as far as u can cast. Don't miss the action farther out on the radious. If you use a hummingbird portable cast out fish finder make sure you use braided line. I would hate to lose the pod. My point is I like to see everyone catch fish. And take advantage of the water that's in front of you.

Spinning Reels
Ok do you think the quality of spinning reels since the 90's has become better or worse today? I don't think we're seeing the cheap low quality that didn't last anymore from the 90's. Today were seeing more reels with more ball bearings. The bail spring design has changed from a circular spring to a longer coiled spring. On the other hand we don't get an extra bail spring with a new reel. Some don't come with an extra spool today. Does anyone ever use that extra spool? Any thoughts?? Newer? Older?

Bass Fishing From Shore
Now most of the time there are points, submerged points, sand bars or transision areas between the drop offs as we move away from them. We find Deeper holes, flats, shallows. Fishing points. Fish up them parallel, skip fan cast them, fish across them, Fish the quiet side or current side. With jigs, shallow crankbaits. Inline spinner, spinnerbaits. You can throw plastics too

Best Line For 1/4Oz Beetle Spins?
I'm not saying your breaking them off but rather to avoid breaking them off. Sometimes we miss the little things like resetting the drag. Or checking it. Clutches can stick. It's good to check the break and run of the church (drag)often so we're sure it's not stuck. The drag has a higher static pressure when it first breaks free than when it's constantly pulling. Line, Excalibur silver thread copolymer clear color. 6lb I use a 5'6" med spinning rod for my light baits with 6lb test. There is a 5lb test that's offered but I never tried it.

Bass Fishing From Shore
Fishing from shore we are stuck with what it is. But it can be fished with success. These places with man-made dams can be very productive areas. These dams have drop offs. All along the drop offs can hold bass looking for an easy meal. These drop offs can loop around the shoreline where we can easily cast parallel to the dam and main drop off. We can use our position on the shoreline to our advantage. I'm talking the smaller bodies of water. Fish from both sides of the dam area if you can. The quiet water is on both sides of the dam. It funnels out from the dam. Ok not every place has a dam it can be a large culvert pipe too that drains the excess water.

Well what did I say that's not simply isn't true? There's more to it?? What? I like to feed info slowly so everyone can digest it. Like a thanksgiving dinner. We're on the first soup course right now. Location, location, location. We'll touch everything in time. With everyone's help too.

Bass Fishing From Shore
I'm saying your fishing the same water and areas from shore as the guys in the boats do. Just casting in a different direction. Overall I'm trying to build up the skills of our shore fisherman. I'm not a pro, I'm not perfect. We can have success fishing from shore too. If any shore or boat fisherman wants to chime in with advice please do so this is a open friendly forum. Let see everyone have success from shore.

The difference between using 12lb test and 6lb or 8lb test is before a bass hits it remember to reset your drag. I play the fish a tad easier too.

Winter Gear
I was hunting all my life with a woollen shirt and those trap door one piece long johns. I had pneumonia three times when logging in the wintertime. I found out the one piece long johns stopped the chill on my back when I bent over running the saw. Now im older and feel the cold I purchased insulated hunting camo. I have the one piece suit, the bib and matching jacket. The heavy Rocky and carhartt socks. The 1,000gram insulated boots. I use the danmart gloves inside mittens. In ten degree weather I'm as warm as a bug in a rug. Even ice fishing. I buy the insulated and non insulated camos after hunting season is over at cabelas, bass pro shops and sportsmans guide when they clearance the over stock. For as little as $59 one piece insulated suits, $59 bib insulated, $59 jacket insulated. It pays to wait and shop around. The guide gear stuff is good. I bought it for me and my son's.

Catching Record Breaking Fish.
I regret I can only report my fish here when I break the state record for LMB. I can't report it to the state because it will draw unwanted attention to the place I'm fishing at. Even if I lie where I caught it I hate to see a body of water get hammered. What would you do?

Finesse Fishing From Banks???
Look for a rocky point or Rocky/ gravel bottom to try it. I have a 5' med rod also with a 1000/100 size spinning reel with 6lb test it's also perfect for smaller baits.

Japan Rods?
O gosh I said something wrong. I felt a while back I could use any fishing rod. But after reading here I got into trying different power rods for certain baits. I'm learning. I have a few new LEWS SPEED STICK rods that feel good.

A Bear Cub Ran In Front Of The Car Tonight.
Ct I'm in the rural area with water shed land and horse farms. A few years back we had a 400lb Bruin in my back yard. Now the sow and cub is running around. Seen a large bobcat twice so far. We have no open season on the predators. One woman had a bear in the house through the door and it left through the window they think she opened the door and let it in. Older lady. I have three tamed feral cats that are well aware of there surroundings outside. When there ears are going 360 degrees with there heads and walking low to the ground ready to spring that's the sign a bear is near. I don't trim there claws so they can climb trees faster. I listen to my dogs tones of bark. It's different between a person walking by or a predator is near. He sits in the house and sniffs the air near the window. Knowing your pets body English could save your life. Just have to be aware there out there. The first sign I seen was I tilled the corn patch. The next day I had bear tracks in the soft ground and scat in the field at the same time.
