What Time Of The Day Is More Productive To You?
First. Early morning before first light, it's still dark. First from dark, thru twilight, till dawn. The bait fishes eyes take longer to change from the dark conditions to the lighter conditions. The basses eyes adjust quicker to the change in light. Thus they feed. The bass are near the shoreline feeding on baitfish, eels, lizzards. Then the bass move to deeper cover. Second, 11:00/1:00 noon time feeding. The plants give off plankton which the Baitfish feed on. The Baitfish come out to feed the bass feed on them. Third, As evening approaches the bass leave deeper cover to feed at the shoreline. Again the bait fishes eyes are slow to change the bass feed. Till dark. I been told once these pressured places get quiet the bass turn on around 10pm again. I never tried it. I'm in bed by 8pm to get up at 3:30am to fish. My PB 10lbs was caught at 4:30/5:00am. I switched from evening fishing to am fishing because of the pressure at one place. Nothing is out there but the bass and me. I find in the evening as it becomes twilight change from natural color baits to a brighter color baits till it gets dark. I find the chartruese color will land a few more bass. The bass bite didn't shut down they can't see your bait color.

Shut Out

Removing Hook... We Got A Bleeder!
I had a long stem hook tear up 8" of cut in my shin. Finally it dug in and stopped. Luckily my dad was a medic in the army. I was casting a open Penn reel saltwater. It happens.

Spinning Reels.
I went to using a better quality spinning reels decades ago. I been using the FIN-NOR AHAB LITE, OKUMA EPIXOR and the OKUMA METALOID. I Found these reels are built to last. The only model that's still available today is the OKUMA epixor. What hurts a reel manufacturer is when they put out a quality product we don't buy it over and over. The sales go down there goes the model. Too bad the fin nor ahab is a good quality reel. The OKUMA metaloid is another good quality reel. I guess good quality reels come and go.

Broke A Rod This Morning... First One In A Long Time!
I've taken a steel rod and insert it inside the rod with glue halfway in one side. Then glue the other half together line it up straight for a cheap fix rather than throw the rod out. Or just add a new tip.

Suspiciously Cheap Lures
Some of the lures on eBay have the rough finish like the cabelas or bps brand has. It makes us wonder if cabelas or bps influenced them to do a spin off brand.

No Deer Yet
Turkeys came through again this afternoon. The deer here should be around. Almost time to setup the molasses coated corn feeder.

Broke A Rod This Morning... First One In A Long Time!
I was so careless as a teenager I broke one rod per year. Luckily a cheap spinning rod. I picked up a expensive flyrod setup at Kittery trading post while on vacation to Maine. On clearance. What a nice 3/4 wt rod. They filled the reel with line and tied the leader. I took it one evening panfishing. First time out I had a blast. I never used a flyrod before. In the dark I put it in the hatchback. I didn't see the tip sticking out the window. I put the electric up and heard that crack that sounded like it went around the lake. That was an expensive crack. I feel for you bro. I saved over a $100+ on this buy but lost $100 to replace it. I do not purchased rods that cost more than $100 now. I haven't broken a rod in over a decade but if I listen hard enough I swear I can hear that costly crack noise faintly.

Suspiciously Cheap Lures
With these cheaper lures be aware of the metric sizes and lengths don't get duped. The actual size of the lure can be smaller than we expect. With reels I like trying something different just to see if it works.

Suspiciously Cheap Lures
Coming from a engineering r&d lab background I like testing new products. I'm retired its in my DNA. These reels work. If a cheap reel gets a kid away from the computer and out fishing for a cheap $10/$15 reel that's my point.

Suspiciously Cheap Lures
Now there $29 & free shipping. I feel this manufacturer in China was a vendor who made this reel for someone in japan(example) when the order was done they still had the tooling so they manufactured the reel for themselves. It's a decent reel.

Suspiciously Cheap Lures
Inline spinners for trout in rivers with rocks were we tend to lose many buying cheaper is good. We thought the made in Japan was junk once look at the fishing industry there now. I have a lot of different stuff from China. Some of there casting reels and spinning reels work great. I think in a few more years all the made in China stuff will be good Look at my 99 cent casting reel. It a clone of a higher reel.

Bass Pro Shops Vs. Walmart
I don't understand walmart(FLW) each Wal-Mart fishing department is different. The Wal-Mart in Bristol,ct when it first opened had everything in there fishing department. I was impressed so much I sent a email to there corporate CEO. Why can't every Wal-Mart look like that. The only difference I can see if a Wal-Mart is near the ocean/saltwater then they need to add the saltwater fishing stuff. I was up in Maine at a super Wal-Mart. The gal in the sports department knew modern guns, military guns, ammo and fishing too. It was a pleasure to talk with her. We talked about hunting too. Why don't these stores hire sports minded sales clerks. Each chain store I find is different.

Suspiciously Cheap Lures
I been buying some of these. Most of what we purchase is marked made in Japan. They offer some nice looking hard swimbaits. Sometimes cheap works.
