  1. Haven't seen our #400lb bear lately in the back yard. But our new predator is a large bobcat.seen him twice now.
  2. I feel bad for the lion if it was done illegally. No ethics, no morals, just had to kill something. But it's over blown because it's an American who did it.
  3. What rod setup do you use? Med/heavy freshwater? Heavy freshwater? Inshore saltwater? Saltwater? 10' rod I cast it out and been wondering how u guys use it?
  4. I use five spinning setups from shore, Topwater Crankbaits Plastics c rig Spinnerbaits, #3 inlines Smaller baits, spinflys, #1, #2 inlines, small cranks Number six baitcaster. Jig setup.
  5. I'm hooked on the fin-nor AHAB LITE spinning reels. I been buying used ones too since there no longer offered new. Recent buys, I just purchased a fin nor #200 model. Panther Martin spinflys I new spinning rod from Japan. A Japanese manufacturer. There quality looks good. Spinning reel from China the lettering on it looks exactly like a $100 reel. I feel the big name manufacturers go to China teach them how it's done then they go on there own. My Chinese baitcaster from a few years back is as good as any $100 reel. It's awesome. I have some older name brands that cost more. You can say what u want but someday the Chinese will be in the fishing reel business like Japan is to cars today. There stuff looks good and is decent quality. The fish don't know in using a $12 spinning reel from China. I like testing products. I did this at the engineering r&d lab. I enjoy it. The 5yo grandson will end up with it for the drop test. Lol.
  6. Ebay for some models. My online guy had speed sticks marked down they didn't last long.
  7. I grew up in the 50's, 60's 70's music era. This went from rockabilly, to rock n roll it was the best time for music development. I like all music even hard rock, heavy metal, ozzy, even Beethoven at times. Ill never forget the 50's But my wind down music is Enya the Celtic music the voices of angels. I sleep to that. She cleanses my mind and soul.
  8. When I'm out there fishing at 4am in the dark. As the sky starts to light up while it's still twilight I think of Louie Armstrong's song what a wonderful world. Who has a better view than me. When I was logging. I shut the saw off and sat on a stump while the snow was falling. It was so quiet I could hear the snow hitting the ground. Who had a better work place than me. My point it's nature painting a picture or natures music. I'm happy to be a part of it. There to see it. There to hear it.
  9. Smokey Robertson and the miracles.
  10. Maybe less kids are interested in fishing because of playing video games? I see lazy kids sit and play video games all day. The kids in my new rural area are country kids they go fishing, compete at local tractor pulls. I grew up watching gadd about gaddis the flying fisherman and his float plane. On Sunday night's. Soon after it was Jerry McKinnis which had my interest. But my older brother was my mentor he took me fishing in 1956 I was 6yo. We fished every year since then till he passed away two decades ago. I keep it going by fishing with my adult son's. I took them fishing when they were my age. Being Sportsman is in our genes, it's in our bloodline. My uncle's and dad fished and hunted together. We have a panfishing tournament between the three of us. My belly hurt from laughing. Try it with your family or buddies.
  11. I used a zebco till I was 14yo. We fished so much we wore one out per year. It cost me $5 for a new one. These had no bearings.
  12. I just upgraded to all LEWS SPEED STICK and tornament spinning rods and a few baitcasters. I have the one piece rods. I been out a few times with them. The first time out it was a big difference between cheaper older medium action rods to these better LEWS rods. The spinning rods are ok with me. I didn't try the baitcasters yet. I'm happy so far.

The Russian barnaul 7,62x54r 203gr soft point was $4.95 a box of 20.I've hunted with that a few times.

    I hunt bear with a 338wm.
  15. Our fishing licenses are puter print outs. We make two copies incase one gets wet. We're in the deep(law) puters too. I turn 65 next month. I think I get a free license.
  16. A nice 5' or 5'6" rod maybe good for the boy. For saltwater fishing for stripers or blues there going to tear up freshwater tackle. You need inshore tackle for that.
  17. I went to my first concert this year at 64yo. The Moody Blues were awesome. I enjoyed it. There drummer is 74yo. My misses got me the tickets for Christmas. One more thing off my bucket list.
  18. Diet coke causes cancer in lab rats. I been drinking coke all my life. Two years ago I developed prostate cancer. I'm not sure what caused it but a lot of stuff we eat has cancer causing chemicals in it. As soon as I took the testosterone meds my prostate cancer flared up. The prostate cancer feeds on testosterone. Go figure a combination of everything causes it. I drink water and energy drinks.
  19. Bomber FAT A size 05 Bomber Model A size 05 In these colors, Redapplecraw, greencraw, firecraw, browncraw, Silvershad. Rebel crawfish in chartruese or match your natural colors. Norman thin N violet, chartruese, sunfish, perch, redear. Norman Fat Boy same as thin n. Rapala F7 original floating minnow blue or black Mann's baby1 crawdadbrown (hank parker special) seen him killing smallest in NH with it. After the show drove to Wal-Mart to get it in a snow storm bought the whole rack. Rapala f7 original in blue. (Blue Max) it's a bass killer like mad max. Reel it slow or twitch it. Sorry I nickname my hotter baits.
  20. Note, A noisy reel will actually transfer the noise down the line like a guitar string. Fact, I'm fishing a hidden in the woods a new place. I had older equipment. I'm using a lure and the sunfish are near where my line comes out of the water. There listening. My spinning reel had noisy gears. I went back with a new reel and they didn't listen. Lube your reels and make sure there quiet. I'm fishing new unfished ponds. The fish seem to be more alert.
  21. I read to take the used line and spool it on to another reel. The line is still new on the inside. I replace my line on the rod setups I use every spring. I check the last 20' of line often during the season. I cut it off if the line has abrasions. I retie my knots often. The line/knots is the weakest link. I store my spools of line in a cool dark place.
  22. My goal is to have fun now. But on my bucket list is to break the state record of 12lbs.14oz. I been really close. It's time.
  23. Sirsnook, I think big bass are out there more than most think. I was having fun bass fishing just buying lures to see if they caught fish. Then the pb10# showed up. I'm not sure if it was a good thing or not. I became more serious, more intense in bass fishing figuring there's more out there. It took some of the fun out of it. I been addicted ever since. Now I had bigger bass on and lost them plus seeing bigger bass swim by me on the drop off man I'm sure that we have bigger bass in every state. There not being caught. Anything is possible, never say never we can catch them if we do it right. Stealth is the key. No noise just the frogs croaking.
  24. Two buddies seen my 10lber. That's all I need. One said holly cow and the other said wow. Thank god no one else was there. I hate to bring attention to the place. That's the poo problem once it's posted in the newspaper or state record list the place will be hammered. We're lucky that the public doesn't know how to bass fish. They think a ball of night crawlers on a hook will do it.
  25. Thanks. I recently tried one at a newly opened reservoir. But none of my baits caught anything. It was flat and shallow. Need to scope out the new place with the cast out fish finder to learn the bottom and depths. The chatter bait was naked. I need a trailer I figured that. Thanks guys.
