  1. I somehow found a bass forum down south in the gulf/delta. They accepted me years ago with the same welcome as here. One talked about using a bannana colored spinnerbait skirts. Does anyone use this color?
  2. Any tips on fly fishing for bass?
  3. Good guys and ladies here. We're a class act.
  4. Topwater popper Shallow cranks Bottom bouncing crank. Spinnerbaits Inline spinner Rapala f7 C rig plastics Jig n pig No action kitchen sink lol
  5. They have a pin that locks. I moved from a small town == trust no one. I moved to the rural farm area, horse farms == thieves will be shot I been told. Yup depending on where u live in northeast. I heard of a house being burned down in vt. He posted and chained his driveway the hunters had no access to there forest. Not good to upset the natives. I go with the flow share my viddles were all cool.
  6. A quantum Bill Dance 20 spinning reel. A few marked down inline spinners. A quantum Bill Dance med action spinning rod A new fly rod. A shakespear black beauty med/hvy spinning rod. Some birthday , Christmas presents kids.
  7. Give me many dinks I'm happy. It doesn't matter bigger is good too. Even those chain pickerel 12" to what ever I'm happy.
  8. Creme worms natural color or black. Then they went to purple that's a lifetime ago.
  9. Creme worms natural color or black. Then they went to purple
  10. Using Excalibur silver thread line 8#/10# test I can outcast anyone. In shore fishing that matters. In my beginning of bass fishing I lost to many bass of all sizes do to poor quality line. I could fish with a dropline as long as it had good line. I pulled in a snapping turtle the size of my 235-15 jeep tire with 8lb test.
  11. I learned to throw a ritual of different baits. I start out at 4am. Topwater, shallow cranks, deeper cranks etc. By twilight I'm still throwing spinnerbaits, inlines. Now day break the bass move from the shallows to there deeper haunts, cover. I use a Carolina rigged plastics to chase them. Do u have a portable fish finder?
  12. I even liked InFisherman and the Dime Store Fisherman guys too up in Canada. Are we losing fisherman who watch these shows too is it declining? Where's grandpa Hank Parker? Great show. Glenn where's the Bass Resource fishing tv show?? We have our guys here on you tube.
  13. Well patterns can change from 15 minutes to anytime it has no limits. My two cents. I fish the same places every year. I fish from shore in one area. The rest of the place is private. I notice what's the hottest bait this year might not be hot next year in the same place. It's time to find out what's the next hot thang. I through a ritual of different baits till I get action anyway. Different styles and colors. I have confidence in ever bait. I use because it worked in the past. If still no action I vary my presentations from the norm. You can have one pattern or multiple patterns. To me this is the challenge to myself to figure out the pattern and presentation. I enjoy it. I'm serious and don't give up. One time I went through my tackle box twice. I found out we could have different water conditions as we go deeper in the water column. I threw all my normal hot colors. The water was slightly stained. I put on, like I preach a firetiger crankbaits and caught bass. Ever since my motto is when all else fails throw firetiger. It's not just the pattern it's the color too. I caught bass in this one spot all the time I know the bass are there. The spinnerbaits, inline spinners, cranks to c rig senko/brushogs etc have always caught something. Change your normal tactics. In using plastics I install a rattle even in my jigs too. A scent, a rattle and the right color they can see is a given. I go after all there sences. When the bite slows down it might not be a change in the pattern. Change colors in throwing the same bait. Try different sizes too. I notice when the light conditions change so can the colors too. Sorry if I bore u ill go away now.
  14. One of Bill Dances tips covered this but being old now I can't remember. I think the Ph 7 is the best to look for. But the TC factors into this. I have four or five Combo C Lectors they measure water temp, PH and recommendations on color patterns. The wrong PH will shut them down. I know that the heavy rains can stir up the bottom and cause the bacteria to rise in the water column changing the PH. but does it affect the TC too? There's more than one reason and cause why a tough day is a tough day. I ask myself sometimes why does a feeding frenzy occur when a weather front moves in. But it also shuts them down too sometimes. I've fished during many rain storms trying to figure this out. I've seen the frenzy before and during the rain. I've seen it between the rain storms when it calms down. But never seen this feeding frenzy after the rain storm stops. Maybe it's a combination of the weather front and the moon phase that causes this feeding frenzy. Frenzy like standing in one spot on the shoreline catching 19 bass all different sizes. At the swamp it happened one night too but mostly dinks to 1 1/2lbers. At my other spot it was an assortment of dinks to 5lbers non stop action. I caught a crappie the size of a five gallon bucket lid.
  15. It's a early Castaic 9" rainbow trout floater $30. I gather that everyone casts these out? Or do you troll with it?
  16. I can use either one. I'm amberdexterious do to working under dashboards on cars. Changing light bulbs as a young mechanic.
  17. I seen that game warden here let a family of about 8 people go Scott free no one had a license. Then he checks mine. I pay they go free. Then I see the warden on the tv local news receive an award for doing an outstanding job. Funny. The wife has no clue. I was talking about night vision. She got me a head band with a LED bright lite called night vision. God bless her little heart she tried. But I told her that good night vision can run into many thousands of dollars. Don't even get into tackle with her. I'm having encounters with something in the dark.
  18. Does the PH play into this too? I'd like to learn
  19. JT, guys/gals, That's my point buy what up can afford, hit the tag sales and flea markets. Remember to haggle the price. Make sure the reels work. Buy good decent line. Just get out there and fish. I started out with trout tackle. That didn't last long. I was using Garcia river mist line #4 $1 a spool. The bass killed the $7 spinning reel. I upgraded to a shakespear rod 6' and a Wal-Mart quantum reel and Excalibur silver thread line. This setup caught my PB.
  20. I even liked watching the "Fishing Hole" show with Jerry McKinnis. Even the old reruns when he built his own boat was awesome. I try to catch Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston on espn during the week. I wish we had prime time fishing shows. Why did they do fishing shows on Saturday mornings when where out fishing? All these Monday morning quarterbacks with sports. Where's the Fishing? I look to this site for info and videos. Thanks to Glenn who planted this seed and let it grow. Without this today we'd be lost. And thanks to Hank Parker, Iaconelli and the rest of the pros who help us here too. I watch the videos, listen and watch what they do with the rod and bait closely then go out and mimic them. This stuff really works when we do it right. I been on this site since the very beginning. Glenn was giving me tips on using spinnerbaits. Again I can't thank him enough for sharing his knowledge.
  21. Here it's two baited hooks.
  22. Zebco reels are easy to learn. They won't be so frustrated.
  23. It looks real swimming in the water reeling it slowly in.
  24. We were tracking a sow in the upper elevations in the green mountains of vt. Then the cub tracks came from the left in the fresh snow. The sow walked in a straight line while the cub zig zagged. The a mountainlion track was following the bear tracks. We backed out of there.
  25. I use a caistic 9" trout soft swimbaits. I was just wondering if there is a better was to cast it.
