I throw a variety of lures till I get action. If I stay with one lure that catches nothing I'm missing out on the reason I'm there. I throw most lures. From hard baits, to spinnerbaits, to online spinners, to c rigs with plastics. I'm shore fishing and carry five rods. Using the wrong line test can influence the lures action. Why throw just one lure? Patterns can change too. Accept the change, the challenge. Learn each lure along with the different presentations and you will become a better bass fisherman. Learn everything we can.

Look for Rocky points, sand bars, transition areas. Fish on the back side of the current. The bass are lined up waiting for the current to push some bait by. When fan casting don't make the casts close together. Skip fan cast. Make your casts far from each other. My first jig bass I was hopping a green pumpkin football jig with a uncle Josh pork trailer straight up a point. I used a inline spinner and fan casted across the point. There were bass from shallow to deep. It's about finding the structure that's were the hot spots are.

I fish from shore in small places and man-made dams constructed for water power 200 years ago. I have access to fish larger lakes too. I fish anywhere I can throw a line. Spinning reels my Fin-Nor ahab lite, OKUMA exiptor have been awesome for decades. I also use the Viva and Globe reels too. When I first purchased the smaller viva it was a exact match to the smaller OKUMA. Odd. Baitcaster I can use anything my educated thumb was broken in on casting open Penn reels saltwater. I do find the spinning reels with 10 bearings tighter. I use these with plastics and topwater Till they break in. The lesser bearings for cranks, spinners, spinnerbaits.

I mainly use bullet brass weights with a clicker. I have lead, tungsten and brass weights.

That hot sun on the water is intense. Burned to a lobster red. I just shaved my head for the last time. I wear a hat now. The hair and beard grows for the winter.

I was using new old rods with chrome eyelets. I still have some. They were $5 each discounted online. A have a B.A.S.S. rod med/hvy action rod. I retired most of them for new LEWS spinning rods. Half price for older model speed sticks of course. Bill Dance says buy the best quality rod we can afford. He's not paying quantum for his. But maybe he's right. I'm up to the $99 baitcaster rods and spinning rods. But on sale and I'm not going any more $$ wise. I miss my older shakespear and south bend rods. I use FIN-NOR, OKUMA exiptor, viva and globe spinning reels for decades. I retired my D.A.M. QUICK spinning reels there antique now. I bought them with my first income tax return in '73. I'm trying the U.S. REEL super casters right now. The jury is still out. Fishing from shore casting distance matters. The farther the scent trail gets out there the better. The weakest link in your setup is your line we need good quality line. I use Excalibur Silver thread copolymer line.

I use different brands because they last longer and for certain colors. The BPS STIK O WORM lasts longer but BPS doesn't offer all there colors. They offer you what they don't sell. The popular ones are sold out and not being restocked. I use the gambler ACE for the electric blue. Cost isn't a factor I want the color that works.

I'm ok casting the lighter wt rod with the smaller flies. Btw. I collected a old bamboo fly rod and a steel telescopic fly rod. I collect older fishing stuff it's interesting. This stuff doesn't leave the house. I have old steel broadcasting rods with reels. I have the original thread line on there spools.

When I was going at it 24/7 the only break I had was sleeping. Till I got completely burned out around 3 months. I'm retired and have the time. I purchased plenty of supplies before I retired. I planned ahead. My kids laugh but I keep them supplied too.

Change your knot often. I run copolymer line three times thru the eyelet.

If you have a boat fish Candlewood. Lake Zoar I fish from shore. I fish smaller places from shore.

Yup been there like really burnt bass fishing in a rental boat on my honeymoon. We went to Niagara falls and it rained 24/7. I asked my new misses ever been camping?
