  1. I made a post couple days ago bout some MossyBacks I found online, Thanks to all whom reponded. Im planning on BCR802 & BCR803, going to run one for topwater and the other for Senkos. Will they handle it? What do the Loomis guys think? Sorry to sound like a broken record but $360+ bux is alot for me to drop on 2 rods. I just want to be pleased. Thank You Very Much. AC500
  2. all my rods have been 1 piece right up to my 13 ft custom surf rod, I no longer do the surf...but 1 piece is much better.
  3. wow...I've been bangin my head for a couple weeks now about a couple new rods....found a guy on ebay selling the GLoomis MossyBacks for well under the retail, read great things but the Avid's, Crucial's,Kistler's and E21's, lotta guys say go Powell and B&R Outlaw. So many rods, so many choices. I dont know where to turn???????
  4. Im thinking for the price Im going hop on the 802 & the 803. Thanks guys.....I'm sure these are decent rods...have to be better then my BPS's.

  6. Thank You Uncle Leo.....PM sent.
  7. My LTS is having trouble getting ahold of the Shimano Crucials I ordered. I'd like to stay in the price range the Crucials are and was looking into a couple Kistler rods. They offer rods under the $150 dollar mark, can they be compared to the Crucials? Thanks.
  8. I was going to use the CRC-D70M for Senko's and baits alike, the other 2 would be a topwater and something for spinnerbaits, would like to have an all around goto rod that could most anything. I use 14 to 17lb test. Thanks.
  9. I've decided to go Crucial, Im looking to add 2 more. If the Crucial guys had to pick 2, what would they be? I got a line on a CRC-D70M and courious what else I should add. Setting them up with Curados. Thanks
  10. I decided to go for 2 new Shimano Crucials at the LTS, and Im buying one from a fellow BR member. I'd like to go Avid because of the high praise the rods get here, but with my store credit in exchange for surf rods I wont need to take any cash out of my pocket. Now Im faced with which Crucials I want. I'll have the CRCD70M but havnt decided on the other 2 yet....looking to the Crucial guys for advice. Please.
  11. At one time I had 22 hanging in the shed, and reels for each, grant it most of these were my surf rods in which those were custom made. They were made in the early 80's all the way up to the 90's. My fresh water gear too was custom and I still have and fish with those...the others consisted of a couple St Croix UL's, and BPS's. All the reels were Penns, Garcia Ambassadour's,Shimano's a Lews Childre BB-25SS, I loved that reel till it got stolen out of truck... and a couple older Daiwa's thrown in the mix.
  12. Thanks for the rapid responce, if you were to pick 3 Avids to give a wide range of fishing styles what would they be.....TY
  13. Im looking to upgrade on my present gear and I've already added two Curado's to the arsenal. Im goin for a couple new rods and havnt decided on weather to go Crucial or BPS. I do have a couple BPS rods and I like them but I've never fished with anything in the high end range. Like to keep my rod choice under $150 mark, any thoughts. Thanks......
  14. you guys are right....I stand corrected...
  15. Tiger was skinny lil kid not very long ago, all of a sudden he jumped in size....do a litlle homework, hunt down some ol pictures of him, compare them from season to season, No doubt the boy has talent, but come on here guys are we all blind?
  16. Well said my friend, well said. If half the playing field had as much steriods in them as Tiger does, well then they'd be great too.
  17. sounds like a good excuse to take a trip to Foxboro
  18. I couldnt find a rebate from Shimano, where did you find i?
  19. Thats how he pays his bills........[br] I can understand that.....I actually own one, it was given to me when my dad died, he bought the TopWater Combo version and I like it, Im sure I wont feel the same way about it when my Crucials & Curados come in but all in all its not bad. But so true The Reel Mechanic it's all about marketing. I work for Stanley Bostitch, we make the same exact tacker for Sears as we do with our name on it, it's actually to see people say" I'm buying the Sears it's better.
  20. not nearly as avid fishermen in here as most of you guys but I dont see it either, if that was the case then why does Rick have his name so many different rods over at BPS... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90575_100003001_100000000_100003000_100-3-1
  21. I own 1, it too predates the blue color, it was Dad's before he passed last year and he fished the heck outta this thing, it never gave him an ounce of trouble, I've been throwing it hard n often and it's served me well also. This reel prompted to look into higher end reels. Im no expert but it's not bad.
  22. is something like that worth the upgrade, these reels have served me well for years.
  23. I've been using the Ambassadeur reels for several years now, I'd like to try something new but dont want to be disappointed, looking at the revos or curados.
  24. thank you TRM..aftr speak'n w/my brother theres anothr guy somewhere in westerly that does some custom work as well....Im going to hit up the guy in wickford 1st, he's a lil closer. thanks again AC500
  25. I hava 6ft Lamiglas custom graphite rod I had made probably 15 years or better ago. Ive been out of the custom rod thing for a long time and I dont know who to turn to for it...anyone know some local RI'ers who can help? thanks
