Foul No partial spools sitting around my house. Now days, most fluorocarbons onthe market are "acceptable." I simply stick to a few proven ones and avoid all the nonsense. Not much different than the guys on here always asking about the best braid or the best copoly. Lots of partial spools floating around these forums for all types of line.

Enjoy trolling - do it frequently. If you’re just dragging baits through the water, you’re doing it wrong ? Much tougher to be a good troller than a good caster.

So only 30 remaining would fish on day 3, taking top 10 again? Zero everyone’s Day 1 weights for Day 3 or carry over? What would Day 1 top 10 guys do on Day 3...not fish again until Day 5? I’m actually the reverse - never even turned on coverage of the Hartwell Elite event. Very little interest anymore.

Just depends on where I go and what I expect conditions to be. Could be topwaters, frogs, shallow cranks, etc. Last year it was predominantly blade baits through winter/early spring, then wacky jighead worms the rest of the year. Those baits just fit the places I fished well.

I do carry extras stuffed in a pocket...never know when you might break off or hang up ? I don’t change lures though unless necessary.

Being shown during the 2019 season, but was shot in 2018 before the formation of BPT. Still a couple more carryover shows when they filmed one year and aired the next.

Johnson Thinfisher & Damiki Vault Usually use a spinnerbait rod (baitcast) to throw standard sized blade baits, often MH rated. Smaller ones go on spinning outfits (M action). Straight fluoro on casters, 10 lb. usually - sometimes 12; braid with a leader on spinning; 8-10# to 8-10#. Almost never have an issue tangling on baitcasters. Spinning outfits - just get your casting technique down so the bait doesn't roll or spin in the air. Also, tighten your line right before the bait lands, then give a quick 'pop' so you feel the blade vibrate to assure it landed correctly, then keep a taut line on the fall.

Yep - Skeet did a video a while back on casting distance and that was about the furthest he could get too, if I remember correctly (50-52 yds).

First time bass fishing this local reservoir in over 3.5 years. Spent the afternoon checking out some old holes and was happy to see fish still using them. Here’s a couple of them. Good structure stays good, year after year ?

They did some testing when they were gathering data for the Precision Casting book, and I believe they determined a ‘short’ cast was 70 ft and a long cast was 120’ based on averages and lure size, or pretty close to those numbers.

Add a soft plastic and hook to it just for extra mass to be able to cast further, and maybe even catch a fish or two, then just assume everything sinks at 1 foot per second, because that's about what every article I've ever read claims most baits to fall at. It's what I do. I pulled your lake up on Google Earth and the pics only go back to 1998, and it had already been built. Not near as many houses around it back then though, nor was the walking trail. Looks like it might have had riprap on some of the banks, and even some shallow shoreline grass.

You're overthinking it Pick any standard sinking bait (~3/16 too 3/8-oz), cast, click in gear, let fall and count. Doesn't have to be exact or precise, and catching fish isn't the primary concern. Pendulum is fine. You simply want to know where the deeper and shallower areas are, and where you might have bars, extensions or holes. That lake has been there for over 20 years. It has a lot of drainage lines running into it. Good chance those have all formed small bars or flatter areas. Some might have dug out holes. These are all the simple things you need to find out. As an example, I have a decent sized pond that I fish that looks like it is about the same depth everywhere. However, when I went through the routine I'm explaining to you, I found that they had actually only dug a hole out of one end of the pond. That end is probably about 10'-12' at the deepest. The rest of the pond, which is about 3/4ths of it, is all one giant flat about 4'-6' deep. Never would have guessed that if I hadn't checked it out. Needless to say, in winter, all the bass gather into that deep hole and so I rarely even bother fishing 3/4 of the pond that is shallow. Iin spring around spawn time, it's the exact opposite.

First thing I do in those situations is walk the entire pond casting a jig, worm or blade bait (something that sinks) and counting down my bait on every cast. One pass around that place and you'll be able to have a good picture of what it looks like under the water. You should be able to make a general map and quickly learn where the deep water, the shallow water, as well as the flats, etc. are. Also pay very close attention to what you see in the water (bottom substrate, weed growth, clam shells, etc.), as well as any fish you see or catch. Once you know all that, you'll be able to formulate a game plan on how best to fish that lake at different times of the year, and it only takes a few hours and a single trip.

Take ‘me all out. Too many mouths to feed at one table You won’t be able to catch them all, so some will still get left to carry on.

I think you’ll see a variety of scenarios tried out this year. Next event on Chick will likely be all Chick, every day in some fashion. By the end of the year, they’ll probably be able to solidify a format going forward that everyone (competitors) likes.

It’s way more interesting than what is being speculated and assumed at this point ? Give it time - it will all come out eventually.

General consensus seems to be that St.Croix rods run slightly heavier than rated. I’ve got both Premiers you mention and would lean toward the ML for what you are looking to do. The M is noticeably stiffer, on par with several of my other rods rated as MH.
